When booking, they were very upfront about describing the rooms as "cosy" (i.e. moderate size), but they were clean, and comfortable with modern furnishings and a good sized shower in the bathroom. The pub/restaurant building is very well maintained. All staff I had contact with were very pleasant. Efficient check-in, bar service. A large free car park (no guarantee) with a public one just around the corner. A great location for the village and beach. They accommodated storing some medicine in a fridge on request.
The evening meal was fine, but they are not pushing the boundaries much beyond "better than slightly upmarket average pub type food". A shame, as there is still a real fishing catch as the harbour/beach. Breakfast was very good though.

The bed was super big but a slightly stiffer mattress would have suited me, but it was OK

The breakfast - the room, the options, the food itself was delicious. I had the full cooked breakfast and the bacon pancakes, portion size was good.
The service was good, nothing seemed like too much trouble.
The location is perfect, a handful of pubs, cafes restaurants to choose from, just a 2 minute walk to the pebble beach.
The room was fine for my needs, the shower although small had good pressure and heat
The complimentary water and tea/coffee facilities were a nice touch

The on-site car park is small and unfortunately was closed for an event during my stay, the next available car park was up on a cliff top a short drive away but cumbersome to walk down with a weekend case. This was not communicated to me before the stay so was a bit hectic trying to find somewhere to park (arrived on a Saturday afternoon during the summer holidays, was quite busy). I was reimbursed for the parking charges though which was nice.
The hotel was hosting said event and I was informed would go on until about midnight. Not a problem, except my room was directly facing out onto the carpark/courtyard and the walls/windows were very thin and the curtains not very thick - did not get a great night's sleep that night.
The evening food was just okay, I had the caesar salad and the fish and chips - didn't seem like they did table service so had to go back to the bar for condiments etc
Although it seemed like a lovely pub, I think the hotel side could do with a little work. But for 2 nights and the price it did the trick.
