La Guaria is constantly improving and has been my choice for years. It is comfortable, clean, and the staff is always pleasant and helpful. I choose this hotel whenever I’m in Alajuela. It is centrally located.
The breakfast could use a few hot items.

Most of the staff was friendly and helpful. It was low cost and they did offer one way transportation to the hotel from the airport.
The breakfast was a step below continental. Very few options, only healthy option was bananas and oranges. Could hear all the street noise.

Very close to SJO airport. Value for money. Clean , nice breakfast, helpful staff and airport shuttle. Great place to stay for a night or few hours when you come from SJO

We requested a 1st floor room, which they gave us. Room was small but had two beds, a plus. Free ride to the airport---great! Room was clean and air conditioned. Check in was easy. Price was very fair, given how close the hotel is to the San Jose airport---and it included taxi service that was prompt and helpful. Neighborhood is ok, not great, but a short walk from La Calle Street Food with a number of restaurant choices---and other ones too within walking distance.
Bathroom sink had no hot water--there was a faucet but no hot water came out of it even when I turned the valve underneath. The shower, thankfully, had both hot and cold water. Wifi in the room was virtually non-existent; we had to sit in the small reception area to get connectivity. Breakfast was very disappointing: coffee, tea, milk, corn flakes, a few thin slices of deli ham, toast, packaged jelly, bananas---just serve yourself.
