It was the perfect setting! Very tranquil and as my husband said it "realigns you". We loved the Casita and the donkeys. Susan and Dan thought of everything that you can possibly need during your stay. We will definitely be back!

The Casita exceeded our expectations and was a great location for experiencing Arizona for the first time. We only had a few days, so the location was important. Getting there from the airport was easy and not stressful. Once there, the Casita had everything we wanted and then some.

We were completely blown away with the amenities this Casita offered! You literally need NOTHING but food since you have every single dish, utensils, cookware, spices, coffee, creamer, coffee, filters, dish soap, first aid kit, towels, toiletries, blankets, linens, board games, robes, pillows, Kleenex, etc. Seriously, the list goes on and on!! The amenities offered go well above and beyond all expectations imaginable! Susan and Dan are such gracious hosts and they are super accommodating. The donkeys are super adorable and so much fun to watch and feed carrots to. We had so much fun petting them and feeding them daily since it was just so cathartic. The wildlife was amazing to see since there were jackrabbits running all around and quite a bit of quail as well. Freda's Casita is just simply a favorite and we would most definitely return here again when we visit AZ again!!

This was the best place! Away from it all yet close to everything. Susan and Dan were the most accommodating hosts supplying everything we needed and more. We loved watching the donkeys and having them greet us when we came home. Don’t hesitate to book this place!!

The perfect home base for hiking, exploring and sight seeing. Everything you need is close by and there is no noise or lights from Phoenix. The host were amazing with communication and what things to go and do. The hike right outside the property was a wonderful way to end our stay there.

The casita was squeaky clean and beautifully decorated, with such special unexpected touches, such as water and snacks and little chocolates. Susan and Dan were the perfect hosts--super-responsive and so friendly when we had questions, but they respected our privacy. The property was just what we were hoping for, with little seating areas strategically placed so that we could enjoy our morning coffee and watch the sun rise over the desert and relax outside in the evening to watch the sun disappear. There are hiking trails out the door, and we followed one through quintessential desert terrain and to the top of a small hill we could see the casita in the distance. The donkeys kept us entertained. The property was ideally located, so that we were remote enough to see a sky full of stars (and even the Starlink satellite train--twice!), yet close enough that we were able to get to Sedona, Prescott, and Cave Creek during our all-too-short three-day stay. Can't say enough. 5 stars all around! Thank you, Susan and Dan!

We were beyond pleased with the Casita, grounds and hosts.
Susan and Dan were pleasant and helpful. I have been around folks that work with the BLM taming and caring for donkeys and horses. I haven’t seen a cleaner or more thoughtful set up.These folks are proud of their place and their work with the critters and it shows in every thoughtful detail.
We booked our next stay within a week or so of our last!
We are happy to be returning to Az to visit old and new friends.
They have a friendly cat that is happy to show off his swimming pool late at night to guests seeking solace and starlight. The pool is divine at night and in the mornings. A bit too hot right now for midday enjoyment, but soon…

There is a lovely pool on site situated with cactus and mountain vistas so beautiful they almost seem like a movie backdrop. There is also a hot tub in a private courtyard space as well.
The casita is situated within an easy drive of countless Arizona towns perfect for a day trip. We visited Prescott, Sedona, and Cave Creek during this visit and plan to visit Jerome, Cottonwood, and maybe Flagstaff on our next trip,

The pool and private hot tub are wonderful. The animals on the property--burros and mustangs--are beautiful, and their quiet presence was unexpectedly soothing.

Absolutely everything is provided and then some, from awesome bed, fluffy towels and fully stocked kitchen, to fuzzy robes and yummy snacks. We loved coming back to this place after exploring the trails or visiting downtown Phoenix. The casita borders public land and we went birdwatching out there. We have stayed in the Phoenix metro area several times, so were looking to get a little further out and see what “real life” is like…and this casita was the perfect place!! Great location if you are planning any trips north and fun local restaurants like The Roadrunner Saloon with real bullriding! Susan was a fantastic host and the casita is perfection. Lots of thoughtful items present like sunscreen (we always forget to pack it!) Super comfortable accommodations 1 we would definitely stay again!

We had the privilege of spending a week in this beautiful place. The space was beautifully decorated, so welcoming and exceeded our expectations! Being out in the desert was a special added bonus. I truly wanted to redecorate my house when we got home. Susan and Dan thought of every detail and we felt right at home. The donkeys that greeted us every day we’re a most welcomed bonus! Bottom line is you feel like you are lost in the country, but you are only minutes from all the shopping and other amenities you could want down in Anthem. Sue and Dan are awesome and makes it feel like your little paradise. The horses, donkeys and of course Trigger (the lab) all add to the ambiance.

It is outside the chaos of the city, but a great launch point to many day adventures; atv rental (awesome!), shopping, yummy restaurants and beautiful destination drives (incl. wine tasting & Indian ruins). If you are looking for a place to rest, the casita and surroundings are tranquil and peaceful. The casista itself is lavishly appointed with many thoughtful amenities. It is exceptionally clean and beautifully furnished and decorated. The nearby, residing burros are sweet creatures. Dan and Susan are unparalled hosts. They are warm, gracious, friendly, patient and extremely attentive to their guest's needs (and their communication is excellent too). Freda's Casita is a slice of Eden in God's country. We will be back.

A little slice of heaven!
We had the most wonderful stay at Freda’s Casita! The location was great and just beautiful, still a close drive to lots of restaurants and stores and to Phoenix as well, but up in the mountains and away from the city lights. You can sit in the hot tub in the small courtyard and look up at all the stars at night! The donkeys and mustangs on the property were adorable and friendly, and hosts Susan and Dan were so lovely and told us all sorts of interesting things about the animals! Instructions from Susan, as well as written info in the casita’s binder and communication through the VRBO app were clear and excellent. The casita inside is beautifully designed, modern, and organized, and Susan has truly thought of every detail to make your stay comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and all the linens were high quality and soft. The hand soaps, body wash, lotion, etc provided all smelled so nice! I hope we get to come back and stay again soon!
