One of a kind!

I loved the lonesome cow overlooking the bed, and how there were some slightly antique flowers placed at the bottom of the empty shelves.... It was so quirky how the corner sofa was not in the corner and the lock for bathroom was on the outside so I could playfully lock my partner in the bathroom unawares! A good time was had by all.

No complete wall as we had glass slats to a random room that then had a hole in it so I could hear all the interesting goings on in the street quite clearly... Hairs on the bed !! 3 to be precise.... please do check when changing the bed next time....

Superb

The hotel has been renovated and is like new. Very secure and safe. It's about 4 blocks from Central Ave where all the shops are, parks and museums. Several restaurants right on the same street as the hotel.

The bathroom was very small and it was difficult to get in the shower.

Good location, but better places around there for same price

The location. Walking distance to bus terminals and city center

The room small with no windows. Close to reception, where there was very loud long discussions at night and in the morning. I don't like when the bed is not well made, with the bottom sheet constantly slipping off the mattress. Staff unable to provide basic information, such as transport to airport, or money exchange.

Perfect spot to catch the bus from Ticabus. Desk staff is super friendly. great food around the corner. Very budget friendly.

Room was awful - so many bugs and cockroaches running around in the room, even on the bed and under the pillows. The hostel was very loud with people running in the corridors screaming all night. Would not recommend.

Cheap. Close to bus terminal. You get what you pay for.

It's close to the bus terminal that takes you to Puerto Viejo... the reason I stayed there. There's not much going on there through. Only a couple restaurants near by and people hanging around the street corners at night.

It doesn't seem Iike the safest neighborhood so I didn't go out but felt safe in the hotel. Unfortunately, the power went out so I had no electricity, wifi or hot water. So... I think it was just bad timing.

SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA budget travel

Inexpensive accommodation. You get what you pay for. Staffs are excellent and helpful. Stayed 4 nights here. Will return here for a budget travel in the future.

Thin blanket , no air conditioner. (But ceiling fan was okay).

very very suspicious place in danger (after sunset) area, in fact this place is “a hotel for hours” as well, dirty, loud and uncomfortable place. I chose because this is the cheapest place in the capital but I advise against this accommodation

it’s a very basic hotel - the fan in the room worked really well, and it’s right outside the transnica bus terminal so it’s useful if you’ve just arrived in san jose

the toilet smelled very strongly, and the beds were very hard and uncomfortable

Staff very helpful. I was put in a room with no windows; i asked them if they could find me a room with windows. Around an hour later, they said i could move to a room upstairs (they finished cleaning up) that has window to the bathroom. I was happy. I needed air. Thanks.

Noise from the bar but taking into consideration the price of the room, can't complain!

Disappointing

Great location - Direct bus to/from airport, near bus station (30mims walking), near the city centre, next to supermarket. They left us to stay 30mins more in the room which was nice. Good Wi-Fi .

Very, very noisy. It is ok for night or two. We didn’t have sheets.

If you need to stay in San Jose then the Hotel Eldorado is great value

few dodgy characters around on the corner, but usual precautions ( street smarts) and nothing to worry about.

Great value for the money. close to bus stations

This is a very good location if you are traveling by intercity bus - it is in 4 blocks from one bus station and 12 blocks from 7-10 station with buses to Jaco and Herradura. 17 blocks from the bus to the Airport - about 20 minutes walk. So you are saving a lot of money by walking and not taking cabs or airport shuttle if you do not have a lot of luggage,. It is also very cheap - it was about 12$ for a night, you get a room with private bathroom for a price of a hostel bunk. It is safe, but I would not walk around late at night, or leave valuables in the room, but for one night it is great.

It is a basic room, small bed - about twin size, and it was rather stiff. There is no microwave or coffee maker, but you can buy some food in a bodega right outside or at a coffee shop nearby. This is more like a single occupancy room than a hotel - there are poor people staying there who can't afford to rent a place long-term. It gets very noisy, plus they were doing repairs there very early in the morning.

Great Place. Will go there everytime I'm in San Jose!

Great Hotel with super prices! I stayed there a few nights...Payed the same I sometimes do for hostel dorms but had a very good, clean private room. Location is 5 minutes walk from downtown area and the people are nice and helpful

We saw 6 small/medium cockroaches in a night, noisy hotel (they accept to rent room for 2 hours...can guess).

If you just want a bed and do not want to waste money, this works great!

Excellent value for money - we paid 11 USD in total for 2 people. The bed is OK and the room has a private bathroom, the shower has warm water. Nothing extra but everything you need for just spending the night and not wasting money.

Very shady area, don't stay here if you want to explore the nearby places walking. After sunset, not a good idea to walk here at all. The walls are thin and as they rent the place by the hour, you might understand what kind of people stay there too.
