We stayed at Kidem Villas for five nights, and it was one of the most special parts of our time in Ubud.
I’m very glad we stayed here rather than downtown, because it let us experience a completely different side of Ubud. The villas are surrounded by rice terraces, with the sounds of animals and insects, water constantly flowing through the fields, fireflies at night, and mornings where you simply wake up with the sunlight. It is peaceful, relaxing and wonderfully slow-paced.
The villa feels a little like a very cool glamping tent, with a rustic charm. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom is lovely, and the large glass windows bring in lots of natural light and beautiful views. There are a few small things that could be improved, but you have to remember that you are staying right in the middle of the rice terraces. Having breakfast on our private terrace and reading on our daybed were some of the most magical moments of our holiday.
The staff and Kidem, the owner, were wonderful hosts. They made us feel very welcome, helped us with our luggage on arrival and departure, rented us a scooter to explore the subaks, and Kidem even cooked us a delicious dinner.
We will definitely come back. I highly recommend Kidem Villas if you are looking for peace, nature and a chance to slow down from the chaos of city life. If you are looking for luxury and all the comforts of a high-end hotel, this may not be the place for you. But for a beautiful, authentic and peaceful experience in Ubud, it is truly special.
I think the breakfast could include some fresh fruits to make it perfect.

It is the real paradise in Ubud. The place to go and have a great expierence. The location is magical and the stuff is really firendly and super helpful. Amazing views and really chill place to relax. Really good breakfast and incredible room. Highly recomend

Good size room and bathroom.
Interesting wildlife sounds at night, no bother though, to be expected.
Hard to find the place, I only got directions a couple of hours before arrival, could have done with that information the previous day. This should really be pointed out on Booking.com description.

The area is very beautiful and idyllic. There are a few small cafés and shops, and it’s nice for a leisurely walk. Short hikes through the rice fields are also easily possible from there. It feels as if the area was only built a few years ago (including the road).
The staff is very friendly and attentive!
- Since three sides of the hut are made of glass, it gets very hot inside. Because the hut is also quite drafty and the heat comes in easily, the air conditioning only provides noticeable relief after several hours!!!
- Accessibility should also be highlighted: the villas are located away from the main road, and reaching them requires a walk (with luggage) of about 500–800 meters. The adjacent road is beautiful but very narrow, and therefore not accessible by car. Arrival is only possible by scooter or on foot.
- No trash bin in the hut.
- Very little lighting, especially in the bathroom.
- The pool has four loungers but no umbrella, and without any shade it becomes impossible to relax by the pool.
