About this house rental
Located in Dauphin Island, this charming house for $350 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. This house is a new rental in 2020. Ain't Life Grand is a 1800 sq ft house located on the Mississippi Sound side of Dauphin Island. This house is very special in that it has a private beach on the Mississippi Sound and a ground level pool. The "Gulf" side of the island is just a 7-10 minute walk or a 1 minute golf cart ride. The house has been recently renovated. Included in the rental are 5 sea kayaks, including single, tandem and kids kayaks, for exploring the canals and Sound. Dauphin Island is considered the sunset capital of the south and Ain't Life Grand gets some of the best views of sunsets on the island. For the fisherman, Ain't Life Grand has a mooring post for your boat and will handle a boat up to 28 ft. The Sound is full of speckled trout, redfish, flounder, triple tail, ling (cobia), crabs, shrimp and much more. In the Gulf you will find all of the above, plus snapper, grouper, king mackerel, spanish mackerel and many other off shore species. There is a full fish cleaning station on the pool deck with sink, washdown and cutting board. Ain't Life Grand is perfect for families and kids. The Sound, where the private beach is and house are located, is shallow and calm, perfect for kids and adults alike. For more surf and Alabama's famous white sand beaches just head to the Gulf side of the Island Ain't Life Grand also has a Crow's Nest on the top of the house with 360 degree views The large back deck overlooks the pool and private beach. The house layout is a 3 bedroom/2 bath. The master has a connecting bathroom and queen bed. Guest room 1 also has a queen bed and guest room has 2 sets of bunk beds so 4 can sleep there. Both rooms have a shared bathroom with shower and bathtub. The house sleeps 8 comfortably. There are 3 tv's, one in the main room, one in the master and one in the bunk bed room. Outside you have a huge deck around the pool, a hot and cold outdoor shower, access to the beach and on the front deck, the house is a gas grill for cooking your catch. Under the house is parking for you ca, the golf car and the sea kayak rack. Also included is a large drum fan for those warm days and a compressor to blow up floats and tubes. Please be aware the Wharf was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and is not usable at this time. You can charter most any size boat for fishing, cruising, dolphin watching, etc. And you can also rent boats at the Dauphin Island Marina. Ain't Life Grand also includes all linens, Dish Satellite TV, and high speed internet. The kitchen is fully stocked with microwave, toaster, stove, pots, pans, blender, air fryer and even an ice cream maker. You can rent a golf cart for your stay directly from the owners after booking for additional price. We upgraded the Golf Cart to a new 2023 Aerctic 6 passenger with a top speed of almost 27 mph! Great way to see the island and access the Gulf side. The pool can also be heated to 90 degrees for an additional price, contact owner for more details. Please do not print, sign and mail the contract to me. It is just an example of the contract for you to review. A week or so prior to your arrival, we will execute the contract via Docusign and will take care of heated pool/golf cart rental. Finally, Hurricane Sally and Hurricane Zeta both did extensive damage to the house. We replaced almost everything, walls, ceilings, floors, much of the deck, insulation, subflooring, paint, etc.... This property is decorated very nicely, which creates a warm, comfortable feeling. The decks are perfect for the beautiful views. Pool looked great although we didn’t use it mainly because of the weather. We celebrated Christmas and Thanksgiving with local and out of town family. The Host, John, even surprised us by setting up a Christmas tree which added to our Christmas spirit.

Loved this house! The amenities and pool were as described. We have stayed in Dauphin Island but never on the bay side. We loved it. All 3 kids loved the pool and kayaks. Hoping to visit again.

First time on Dauphin Island for 4 adults. The home was very nicely decorated and conveniently located. Having the golf cart was a nice bonus as we drove it every time we went to the beach or restaurants. The pool was great! Owner was very accommodating and friendly and gave great instructions. Would stay here again.

This house was spacious and clean! Huge kitchen with everything we needed, even an air fryer. It was beautifully decorated and had great wifi sevice. We had the best of both worlds with the pool and then the beach with in 20 feet! My daughter and son in law really enjoyed the kayaks. It was a perfect week and we would definitely rent this house again!

We had a wonderful week and enjoyed staying at Ain’t Life Grand for a second time. The house is all inclusive in terms of something to do for every age and stage. We enjoyed the kayaks, fishing, swimming, shell collecting and more all right outside the door. John is a great host and the house is equipped with everything you need. Looking forward to visiting again someday.

The pictures don’t do this home justice… it’s AMAZING!!! I can’t say enough good things about Ain’t Life Grand and the owner John. My wife and our 3 kids (7-11) had one of our best vacations to date. One really cool thing we enjoyed of many, were the crab traps left for us! My son and I fished for crab all week and on the last night we steamed our weeks catch along with some fresh oysters we found on the dock pylons for dinner that night. It was a really fun learning experience for us. We’ll never forget Dauphin Island!!!

We had a wonderful time there. The islamd is amazing. We enjoyed the public beaches as well as our beach in the sound. This house was great. The gold cart is a must and the ONLY way to go about the island. We enjoyed the pool thoroughly and took the sea kayaks out. John was clear in his communication about the property and check in process. This was a perfect vacation.

Wonderful property with plenty of room right on the bay. Kids loved the pool and only steps away from the water. Owner John was very helpful and went out of his way to communicate with us. Would definitely recommend the property to others and stay there again!

Our family of 7 had the best beach trip ever. At first we were worried, never being on DI before, and thinking we were settling for less because it was bay side and not ocean side. We were so very wrong!! This bay side is the most relaxing, calm location, pure paradise! The host John keeps you completely informed and even goes out of his way to give you local eats and activity tips!! We were already planning our return trip before we left the covered deck above the pool by the waters edge. We woke up each morning to a beautiful sunrise and ended each day with the best sunsets ever!

We had a wonderful time on our stay at the beach house! The house is a perfect location. Private pool with a small area of sand on the bay water right behind the house. The kids loved the kayaks!! Short golf cart ride to the bigger beach with bigger waves! We had such a good time we booked the house for next year the day we checked out!!

Very nice, as described and clean. Had everything we needed for cooking, nice grill that was clean on back deck, plenty of linens and beach towels. All appliances, ac, hot water, ect.., work great.
House is right on the beach. Pool was clean & plenty big enough for 4 kids to play in. Outdoor shower and hose to clean off sand. Shaded parking under deck fit minivan easily. Restaurants we visited on the island were good and reasonably priced. Ample fishing opportunities on island and right at the house. Kayaks were fun to have available.
Owner communicates wonderfully. He called a few days before with all the info we needed to be prepared for our trip. Responds quickly & knowledgeable about the island.
Would defiantly stay here in the future.

This is our second year staying at "Ain't Life Grand" and both times were absolutely wonderful. The house was very clean and had all the necessities for a great vacation - the kitchen is fully stocked with everything one may need, the beds were comfy and clean, there were even toys for little ones that our toddler enjoyed playing with during our stay. John provided recommendations on what to do in the area and where to eat and shop, which came in handy. Overall, we had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to coming back next year.

John Pearson was a delightful host and had great communication throughout our experience. The house was perfect, well appointed. Maybe some new cooking pans recommended, but that's all. We cooked every day. The location on the bay was ideal for still sunsets without the wind, but yet easy access for beach waves whenever the kids wanted to venture almost literally across the street. Pool is a no brainer with kids! Kayaks were great as the sound is shallow enough even for the younger kids. Love Dauphin Island and we will be back!

The pictures for this listing are a bit humble - the amenities, location, and ambiance really are spectacularly perfect! The sunrise and sunsets from the deck are incredible. The home has everything you need for a perfect getaway - pool, kayaks, beach toys, a fully-equipped kitchen, and plenty of seating indoors and out to enjoy time with loved ones or friends. It also is located in a great area on the island. Just steps from the sound, it was a great escape when the ocean side winds were coming in strong. Yet, it is less than a 5-minute walk from the ocean side. We thoroughly enjoyed both - fishing in the sound and swimming in the ocean. The home is clean and decorated in a lovely beach theme. I enjoyed the 4 huge sliding glass doors - 2 in the living room and one in each of the sound facing bedrooms. Even when you were inside, it was like you were surrounded by water - amazing! John is a wonderful and thoughtful host. He gave us great food and restaurant recommendations (YES -we got Skinners seafood and had a shrimp boil!) The island itself is a great place for kids and very low-key. It was just what our family needed for an amazing spring break!

Beautiful property and comfortable accommodations. John had great communication with me throughout the entire process. We had paid to have the pool heated for our stay. The pool did not heat up and I messaged John to let him know we were never able to use the pool and he responded immediately and refunded that portion of our payment, and even let us know after our departure that the pool pump had gone out and apologized for the inconvenience. Regardless of the pool situation, we had a great stay at Ain’t Life Grand!!!

My friend and I took our boys (11-14) on a beach vacation. We were able to relax, and the boys enjoyed the beach and the pool. They also played basketball several times at the park nearby. My older son said the sunset on the beach was his favorite memory. The property was great, and the hosts clearly maintain it to ensure guest have a great experience. Great hosts! I definitely recommend it.

This was hands down the best vacation we’ve had as a family! The house and property were absolutely perfect - I could not find one thing we disliked or took issue with. John was extremely communicative and has taken great care with his home and amenities.
We 100% suggest heating the pool if you go in October. The golf cart was a nice plus, too. You can go over to the gulf side, but seriously…you won’t want to leave Ain’t Life Grand and the beautiful, peaceful, and quiet sound!

First of all, John is the absolute best host we have ever rented from. Friendliness goes a long way, and he is definitely that! Quick to respond to all your questions and concerns and even helpful to give suggestions and phone number for places around the island. We absolutely loved the beach house, plenty of room for our family of six, the private pool was perfect, and the golf cart is a huge bonus and even more fun for the family. We loved being so close to the water and the sunset and sunrise views are absolutely amazing! We will definitely be back!!

Great place! John called and texted to be sure everything was ok or if I had questions. Place is truly a hidden gem. Beautiful sunsets!! We used the Kayaks that were available 3 out of the 7 days for hours at a time. This location was perfect for my 7 and 10yr old. On our last day we met one of the staff for house refreshing and she was very friendly. 5/5 star rating from beginning to end!!

Perfect Place for our Family
Ain’t Life Grand was the perfect house our family vacation. It was our grandson’s (17 months)first visit to the beach. The location of the house on the Mississippi Sound side was definitely a plus for us. We could be playing in the water and sand in just a few steps off the deck. Our family spent a lot of time enjoying the pool as well. John was super great to work with and called to give us heads up of a possible Tropical storm. We were pleased that the storm never developed but glad that we had John watching out for us.
