About this house rental
Located in Oak Island, this attractive house for $370 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. The Lazy Lookout has the perfect location for everyone! It has breathtaking views of the ocean and Ocean Crest Pier. Right across the street from the 9th street beach access, which allows you to step onto the beach in 30 seconds :) Also, the house is located right across the street from the 9th street walkway which is by far my favorite spot to watch the sunset and the Davis Canal! If you are interested in booking we ask that you please book Saturday to Saturday for convenience of our cleaning services :) The house itself has a beautiful front porch with a porch swing and rocking chairs, the perfect coffee spot for your friends and family! The crowd favorite is your own personal bar, The Lazy Lookout Lounge. This unique outdoor area comes with a full-sized refrigerator, an ice machine, and even a 60 inch smart TV. Also, we have provided surfboards, boogie boards, loads of sand toys, and beach games to make sure you get the most out of Oak Island! There is also free wifi, smart tv's, and board games for when you want to relax inside. We ask that you bring your own sheets and towels or there is an option to add linen services 30 days before your arrival. The linen service includes fresh sheets and towels for the price of $150. If you find that during your stay you need fresh clothes or towels there is a laundry room downstairs for your use. It is supplied with laundry detergent and dryer sheets! Our Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need! However, we do not have a dishwasher, but plan on adding that next winter. Our number one goal is for you to have one of the best vacations yet, and to feel completely at home! My family enjoyed a wonderful stay at this perfect home! My kids' enjoyed the easy process of walking across the street to the beach! The house was amazing. The best best thing ever is the bar and the ice maker!! You can not beat it! we spent every night hanging out downstairs watching baseball playing football in the yard and enjoying each other! we will be back!!

This beach cottage is so adorable and has all you need. Great view from the front porch with rockers and a swing! Big dining room table for meals and game playing. Plenty of beds for rest! So close to the beach! I truly love this beach home. So very cozy and relaxing

Great place for the family
We loved this place. It had something for everyone. Not only was beach access right across the street, the home was comfortable and had multiple spaces for family to enjoy: porch, downstairs yard for playing games, downstairs rec room for the teens to watch TV late at night was awesome. The open air bar was a fun touch as well for hanging out and talking while family members playing games in the yard. The home was comfortable and had everything we needed. Would love to see a dishwasher added but it was no big deal… We just got the teenagers to wash dishes. 😀 and I loved that there was streets in the back to ride bikes on away from traffic.

The beach access is right across the street which made getting on and off the beach easy for my husband who has a disability. The downstairs bar is great fun and we enjoyed coming off the beach and having a cold drink. For a family that hasn’t had a vacation in several years it was perfect, lived up to and surpassed my expectations and I hope we can go back soon. Leah was very responsive and helpful!

We had a great time at Lazy Lookout! As the name implies, it was a calm, cozy and relaxing vibe from opening the front door to closing it! The beds were comfy and we all rested well! The upper level front porch was so nice to take in the partial ocean views while rocking in the chairs or swinging on the swing. We spent most of our time at the lower level outside bar where we didn’t have to worry about running out of ice EVER! Truly a big hit and it was fun seeing all the different people walk by — although some may not soon forget the enthusiasm of some of our group watching VA Tech football win their game against UNC. The big event was baby turtles hatching, going the wrong way and ending up in the yard and bar area. What an experience to see a baby turtle up close! We loved the sand wagon, the availability of beach chairs and boards. A new larger umbrella or even a cabana would be a great added touch. The outdoor shower was really awesome to have and several of us preferred that over the house; on windy days the door will blow open and only needs an inside latch to help that. The kitchen was well equipped and we had what we needed to cook - though storage space is limited if you have a lot of groceries and it will be nice when y’all add the dishwasher. Washing dishes wasn’t bad except for the water pressure which required us to use the sprayer and that was a bit awkward. The other nice to have would be a large folding table for outside — we got steamed crab and shrimp from Pelicans (yum) and it would have been great to have picnic style dinner outdoors. This house was a great find for us and we so enjoyed it! The area is beautiful, quaint and easy to navigate. I was surprised to experience more people than not (whether at the beach or within the community) were not overly hospitable which was disappointing. This is not the case with Leah. She is absolutely easy to work with and responded so quickly to any inquiry we had. She also offers tips for being in the area, proactively shares what will be new and upcoming in the house and is genuinely the best!

The bar and large flat screen TV was on point for watching the Summer Olympics from the patio and/or front yard which was also perfect for a family friendly Spike Ball tournament or running with and chasing toddlers as it was a plush lawn. Added bonuses were the gas grill and the commercial sized ice maker. Leah, the owner and property manager, was so attentive and was extremely communicative. I highly recommend this property.

This, is an awesome location. The bar looks out onto the beach access meaning that you can greet fellow beach goers with an alcoholic beverage on their return.
The management was flexible and responsive. They gave great suggestions. We had a good time.

Lazy Lookout a great choice
Cottage has handy location near public beach access. We found the cottage clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well equipped and there's a hotel style ice machine down stairs. It came in very handy. The dining area and sitting area worked well for our party of eight. Although a couple extra folding chairs would have been helpful. Also, a lock box attached to the house where an emergency house key could be stored in case you lock yourself out might be a good addition. Should we return to Oak Island we'll most likely stay here again. In our opinion the Lazy Lookout's a winner!!

Enjoyed the week. Pictures don't do it justice as the sea is literally 30 seconds away and you can see and hear it while sitting on the deck. Would definitely come again.

Perfect location, Great View
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this home. Just steps to the beach and a fabulous view from the top porch. The home had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The highlight is the bar area below the house. We spent the evenings there playing games and watching The Masters. Leah was very helpful and quick to answer all questions. We all agreed we would definitely book this home again.

Cute house with a great view!
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Lazy Lookout! Our kids (and dog) had so much fun working/playing downstairs and listening to the radio. We enjoyed looking at the ocean from the porch swing. The owner was so nice and quickly responded to any questions we had about the property. Most importantly to us during the pandemic: the TV is great (we streamed our movies from our phone to the TV), Internet is great - high speed 5G and we were all able to work on our devices and there is a washer/dryer that works great as well. Having all the comforts of home plus the beach was exactly what we needed!

Perfect Beach Cottage!
We absolutely fell in love with this cottage! Leah was an awesome hostess - super accommodating & very responsive while still respecting our privacy. The cottage is so charming - perfect blend of old school beach nostalgia & modern comfort. The location could not be any better! Directly across from beach access! We loved hanging out & the “ bar” & spending evenings rocking on the porch after long days on the beach . We are already planning a return trip!

Absolutely perfect for our family
This house was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very short walk to the beach and many conveniences and small touches included to make our stay excellent. So nice to be able to enjoy the time together as a family as well as some time together but separate as a family (made possible by the layout of the house). The “bar” below was such a cozy place. The owners definitely put the thought into making our stay comfortable and it showed!! Leah was fantastic in her communications, and it was so obvious she wanted us to enjoy our time spent there. We will definitely be back!
