The location felt truly special without being forced or over the top. Decor was simple but worked with the location.
Needing to be dropped off down the hill was rough, but recognize the owners can’t do anything about protecting the streets around the property. Wish I would have booked an airport drop off that could have taken us to the nearby alley.

The view from apartment 3B was beautiful but requires a lot of stairs. The apartment was quiet and comfortable. AC was a plus. Host was responsive but off site. Peacocks in the castle area are a highlight. Kitchen is well equipped, and started coffee/milk was provided. Remote access was helpful, though requires a phone app.
From apartment 3B, be advised that the windows overlooking Alfama and the river are chest height and thus require a person to stand up to see. That meant no views while eating at the dining table or sitting in the living area. The apartment is off the beaten path and behind the castle walls, which means that access is by foot unless an expensive private car is hired. Walk will be approximately 1 km uphill from the river, and, once inside the apartment, approximately 45 stairs to apartment 3B (no elevator). The breakfast in a box was delivered late and was unimpressive. I canceled that portion of my stay after one day. The toaster did not work, but host replaced it the next day.

Climbing the hills to the top … but that seemed to be the majority of Lisbon!

The great view from the 3rd floor room (because we refused the ground floor room which has basically no view and were relocated to the 3rd floor - thank you), the great location, the cleanliness and confort of the appartment
1) The gap between the description on Booking and the reality: we had booked the "One Bedroom Appartment with Terrasse and River View" and had received a booking email highlighting "a terrasse with sea views". Reality very different: the "terrasse" is on the back and is just a small outdoor space surrounded by 3 walls 2m high, and the "sea view" from this appartment is basically none
2) the price: 610€ for 2 nights (mid-November!) is far too high in view of the above
