Would book again

Lovely house although very cold in the living room end especially near the bathroom. Great fire and logs provided to warm it up Good beds, nice bathroom and kitchen Great wee location and good size garden for the dogs. Would book again

A great place to stay in Ballater

Ballater is a lovely place, and this cottage is in a peaceful location. There is also plenty of parking on the large drive. The cottage makes a great base from which to explore the local area. The cottage is spacious, and we loved that dogs are welcome. We would highly recommend a meal at the Fish Shop, which was recently opened by Queen Camilla and is fantastic.

A couple of things that could be improved are: - the gate is not secure, which makes the garden unsafe for dog guests. It was constantly blowing open in the wind, and it wasn't very relaxing to keep worrying about the dogs getting onto the road (they were supervised at all times, but it was still a worry). - the shower in the main bathroom does not match the standard of the rest of the property. It really needs a revamp and to be kept clean to prevent it from having dirty/mouldy grouting. - the kitchen was missing a few things such as salt and cooking oil, and we would have liked soup bowls and a few other bits and pieces to make cooking meals easier.

Always like our stays here

We have stayed here a few times, it being my husband’s first family home. We love the area, off road parking. Away from the road. Love the open fire.

My daughter slept on the sofa bed this time with the two toppers and a quilt underneath as it is not the most comfortable of sofa beds.

It was a home away from home

I was able to key in the number for the keybox but found the release key too small and it was difficult getting the key out.

The kitchen items were adequate but there were no salt and pepper or cooking oil

Another great short break in this property

Perfect location, allowed in slightly early as property was ready, just an all round diamond of a cottage for a break in the area, our 2nd stay and will definitely be back.

Great cottage, excellent location. Would benefit from few minor adjustments

Very spacious, clean and comfortable. Fabulous kitchen space. Good location for distance to main amenities. Great parking in own drive. Easy to communicate with hosts.

The shower in the main bathroom needs a revamp. Bed in main bedroom creaks. Doors out to garden from kitchen are great asset/fantastic but they stick on runners at times

Good location, good vacation rental.

Location for this space is great. Easy to walk into town for dinner and groceries. A lot of things to do around the area as well! Would stay here again.

Moldy smell in second bedroom and livingroom was unbearable. Could not sleep in the bedroom due to smell. Also, no window other than skylight in 2nd bedroom so no 2nd escape in case of fire. Skylight looked like it could open but too high to be of any use. No instructions were provided for anything, Kitchen garbage was 1/2 full when we arrived. Recycling under the sink had liquid in it that looked and smelled like beer. No patio furniture provided though shown on pictures in ad and in written text of ad. Overall, a huge disappointment and probably not a healthy stay due to mold.

Calm and relaxing, good location.

Cottage was very cold at night and the heating never came on despite turning all the radiators up. There was a open fire made up ready for use but husband not keen to have to clean the grate the next morning. No ash bucket or instructions when cleaning up the ash.

A beautiful cottage in The Cairngorms

Fantastic facilities with a wonderful bed, excellent en suite shower, a comfy lounge and a well equipped kitchen. The log fire was a bonus during our snowy stay. Kiera was so easy to communicate with too so if we were staying in The Cairngorms in the future I would stay at Dormie Cottage in a heartbeat.

A coat hanger on the back of the en suite door would be handy to hang your clothes as you shower, but I'm struggling to think of any real negatives about this beautiful cottage.

Good location for for exploring the area by any means. Ballater is an attractive village with Good range of shops for food.

Beautiful kept property at a good price. We had a brilliant, cosy and relaxing stay at Dormie and are hoping to return soon. Almost instant replies from the hosts, who were very helpful.

A very enjoyable and pleasant stay.

Dormie Cottage is located in a quiet street but within easy walking distance of Ballater village centre for shopping, eating out etc. It is tastefully furnished and very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ballater itself is charming and an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area.

The smoke alarm is over-sensitive and was triggered twice during our stay simply by using the toaster. Other than that, no complaints.
