Situated in West Custer Township, this charming chalet for $199 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. Elk Haven is a collection of 5 cabins on a 7 acre property located in the Black Hills, on the edge of Custer, SD. Our Cabins are ideal for families, reunions, hunters and group gatherings ...as well as a romantic getaway for two. Because our cabins are centrally located to all the area's wonderful Black Hills and Mt. Rushmore attractions, it's only minutes until you're back "Home" to rest and enjoy the natural beauty and serenity right off the deck of your Black Hills cabin. There is a master bedroom with queen bed and closet, with direct access to a spacious bathroom with a shower. The loft area above is divided for privacy and has 2 queen beds. There is also a living and dining room area. Each cabin has a full kitchen with all the amenities of home which include stove, refrigerator, toaster, coffee pot, blender, dinnerware, silverware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, bakeware; everything down to spice rack, dish/hand soap, hand and paper towels. Each Cabin has it own private deck with outdoor furniture, BBQ with tools, and great views of wildlife! Elk Haven is a great space for a family to spread out and get comfortable and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Black Hills. Check out our newest property located just 3/4 of a mile up the road past the cabins. The Bluebird's Nest is a brand new garage apartment with a master bedroom and bunk room. It has one Twin XL and one Full size bed in the bunk room, Queen bed in master bedroom, and queen pullout couch in the living room. The kitchen has a full size refridgerator/dishwasher and microwave. Bathroom with double vanity. This location has heat and A/C. Property backs up to Forest Service and view of Crazy Horse. Peaceful and beautiful location.

The Blue Bird Nest cabin was the perfect choice for us. It was clean and comfortable with a well-stocked kitchen where we cooked our meals each night after a day of hiking the various trails in Custer State Park. The views from the cabin are picturesque and we saw lots of dear in the area. The owners live on the property, but gave us complete privacy and were available by text if we needed anything (which we didn’t). The town of Custer is a few miles away and has lots of nice restaurants and a supermarket. By the end of our stay, we felt like this cabin in the woods gave us the complete experience.

Stayed with a friend and used it as a base for exploring the Black Hills and Badlands over four days. Incredibly convenient and central location while safely and quietly located in a quiet neighborhood, just minutes from Custer.
The property is gorgeous and the amenities were all as described with generously proportioned rooms. We were very pleased with our entire stay and would recommend highly.

You can see Crazy Horse from the hill on this property! Close to Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Very clean and new construction. Great hosts.

This apartment is set in such a beautiful setting, surrounded by the best Black Hills hillsides. The kids found plenty of fun on the rocks and hillside surrounding the cabin.
You are technically right beside the property owner, but you feel miles away from civilization with an entrance that opens facing away from the homeowner's home. The house is clean, easy to use, and had plenty of room for our family of four. The property owners were available when needed and were friendly to chat with. We hope to make it back again someday!

The Blue Bird's nest was such a perfect spot for our family of 5. We did lots of sight seeing during the day, but loved coming back to a picturesque spot to relax in the evenings. Such a beautiful property, off the main roads, fully stocked apartment, and wonderful accommodating hosts!

This was our first time doing a vrbo and it worked out perfectly for us. The location was central to everything we were doing and the place felt almost like home. Kitchen was supplied with everything we needed to make our meals. Would rent again if we return to the black hills.

We really enjoyed this Private apartment. The property owner was very nice and helpful. The private fire pit and spacious outdoor space was a nice surprise. Great Custer location served us well as a Basecamp for all the incredible places to see in and around the Black Hills.

This was an absolutely beautiful home. I visited with my husband and kids, and all of us loved it. The family enjoyed sitting outside under the stars by the fire pit, and playing cornhole. There was more than enough space for all of us. I especially liked chatting with the host - she was so welcoming and made us feel right at home.

This home was in a beautiful and convenient location close to everything you want to see in the Black Hills. The unit was well appointed and very clean, and the hosts were quick to respond to any needs.

Three of us stayed here for a week and it was an enjoyable location. It is an apartment above the garage and the owners live next door. The space and kitchen are all very new. It is very quiet, as it is at the end of a dirt road, with only a few scattered neighboring houses. There are lots of trees, a campfire area, and the stars are very visible at night. The road connects directly with Highway 16, is close to Custer, and provides easy access to all of the many sites to visit in the area.

Beautiful Relaxing Location
We had a very enjoyable staying in the Bluebird's Nest during our trip to the Black Hills. It was super clean and had a well stocked Kitchen and Bathroom. Loved that there was a table large enough for my family of 7 to sit around. The hosts were very conscientious and checked in with us to make sure that we were all set. The location is a little out of the way in Custer, but it was a beautiful property and really cozy. The kids were always wanting to go back to just hang out. It was a great launching off point for all the sites we wanted to hit. Thanks!

The Blue Birds Nest was the perfect place for my family to stay while visiting Custer and the surrounding area. The location in the woods is quiet, with plenty of opportunity to see wildlife. The apartment is beautifully decorated and the kitchen is well-appointed. My family enjoyed playing board games and relaxing in this cozy space. The owners were detailed in their communication both before and after our arrival, checking in to ensure all our needs were met. The Blue Birds Nest was a lovely place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet restful get-a-way.

At one with nature.
The place was absolutely stunning! Was neat and clean which is the most important thing to my family when renting a place. The place was a little off the beaten path but was so neat to see all the deer along the road as we drove to our place every time. I am use to the deer around where I live always running away from you but there they would literally stand 10 feet away from you and act like you weren’t even there! The place was close to all the local attractions and was a nice relaxing place to come back to after a long day of enjoying the local attractions. I would recommend this place over and over again!

We are a family of 5, and had PLENTY of room to run! The hosts were WONDERFUL!!! They were two of the kindest people we have ever met, and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect! Nice 2 bedroom loft
Nice, updated 2 bedroom loft. Enough room for friends or a small family. Bathroom was big and very nice. It was a secluded area tucked away.
