About this cottage rental
Situated in Cortez, this lovely cottage for $225 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. The Gray House is a completely renovated historical cottage dating back to the early 1900s, in the historical fishing village of Cortez, Florida. The village was founded in 1865. The house was built on stilts by Mr. Ireland . He sold the house to Grey Fulford in 1933. Grey moved the house on to land. He married Priscila Pringle and lived there until 1983. The cottage has original hardwood floors, marble counter tops ,and beautiful views. The cottage has a king bed, pull out couch in the second bedroom , dish washer, built in refrigerator, gas stove, large microwave, grill, table and chairs on the back deck. The bath is spacious with a walk in double shower. There are 2 TVs with internet stations and apple tv. The house is located on a 20000 square foot lot with a 60 foot dock on Sarasota Bay. There is a deep water slip( for rent but costs extra,35$/night). Kayaks are available on the premises with fishing gear and beach equipment.. The cottage has plenty of parking and is landscaped with indigenous plants only. This is a perfect place to getaway and safely, relax. The cottage is dog friendly but sorry no cats or birds .

My husband and I wanted a relaxing, laid back holiday on the water after the busyness of Christmas and we got it!
This lovely restored home sits on the bay with a 60 foot dock in the fishing community of Cortez, FL. If you want the comforts of home in a cool historic community, surrounded by water and beautiful beaches on nearby Anna Maria Island, then this home is for you!
We walked to a fun restaurant in the neighborhood and bought fresh fish from the nearby Starfish Market and never had to leave the house unless we wanted to adventure on the beautiful Gulf beaches of Anna Maria.
Hope to be back soon! The owner is great with communication too!

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Gray House. Location was amazing, loved having access to the kayaks, bikes, and fishing equipment. Listening to the birds on the back deck was a real treat!

We loved staying here. The views from the home and dock are unbeatable and the home has all the amenities you need to cook/bbq. We used the kayak and enjoyed checking our local restaurants. Convenient location to AMI too!

The house is so charming,cozy, and modern. The architecture inside is very unique. There's a beautiful view of the water from the entire inside, and palm trees can be seen through all the windows.
We brought fresh fish back from the nearby fish market and grilled on the deck. We regularly took the provided beach chairs and umbrella to Cortez beach. My husband especially enjoyed fishing on the fishing dock. I loved seeing the birds there.We rarely saw anyone at other docks so it was super private.
The front yard is big which provides extra privacy at the house.There's an unattached garage out by the street which is very far away from the house-- which the owner occasionally visits, perhaps doing some quiet work inside of it. Briefly we saw him tending plants on the grounds but he stayed at a distance as if not to bother us. He was friendly when we approached him and was very accommodating and easy going. He provided countless perks that we greatly appreciated, from fishing bait-- to shampoo- to laundry soap!
There's the cutest pineapple growing out front that we always fawned over when we came and went. Lots of awesome wildlife, too.

This was a really cool property with some really cool features. I really loved sitting out on the dock every night and watching dolphins and manatees play in the bay. This little cottage has a lot of charm and I wish I could live here full time. Had a blast!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this cottage! It was beautiful and completely stocked with almost everything we needed - all we had to buy were groceries. It was in the perfect location, too! Almost everything we wanted to do was either within walking distance or just a short drive over the bridge! It was an absolutely perfect week and we cannot wait to return to the Gray (Fulford) House!

My husband, 17yo daughter, and I had a lovely 5-night stay at the Gray House cottage. We loved the view to the bay, our time spent watching birds and dolphins from the pier, and the fully appointed house that met all our needs. It was convenient and fun to walk through the neighborhood to the local seafood restaurants. We appreciated having canoes for our use (never carved out the time to use the bikes). Given that our daughter is set on attending college in St. Pete, we will likely have many opportunities to come back again. We would definitely choose this house again for a future stay.

Couldn't have been more perfect for us, enjoyed seeing boats, birds, quick to get to the beach and fish markets then landing in a quiet location. The cottage has been renovated just right. We had a quick visit to see family. This home is beautiful, comfortable, and well appointed. The covered porch was great for watching wildlife and the boats go by, and it is close to everything we needed.

This was our 3rd year and we hate leaving every time. The view never gets old. It's within walking distance to some of our favorite places to eat. The beaches are just over the bridge. Very convenient to everything. We'll be back.

Our family of 4 had such an amazing time at this cute cottage. Perfect location for us to dock our boat and visit the sandbars. We walked to swordfish grill for dinner and enjoyed the neighborhood. This house exceeded our expectations and not a detail was missed. Included so many amenities and felt like home away from home. We hope to make this spot a family tradition for years to come! P.s. we saw dolphins right in front of our dock :)

When we arrived we were like wooow couldn’t believe how private and quite neighborhood it was had everything for the beach chairs, umbrella, bicycles. Amazing views from the house and the deck. Felt very relaxing.
In a nutshell it felt like home away from home.
Thank you for having us.
Highly recommend for any family getaway. Also bring only few things with you Eveything else is provided by the owners even fishing pole and gear.
