Its the second time we've stayed here. Location is fabulous, apartment is very clean and comfortable. We stayed here in Nov. Heating was great as it was very cold when we got there. Beds are comfy but pillows are pretty poor. Nice touches like leaving you a torch, some tea bags and coffee sachets and hot chocolate, salt and pepper. Lovely that you have the whole of the grounds and gardens to walk round especially once the house is closed to visitors and is empty.
The apartment was very cold when we first arrived and had to wait for a few hours for the heating to warm it up, but after that it stayed nice and cosy. Keep the kitchen door closed all the time if you stay in winter as the heater doesn't work in there and the draft from the kitchen window flows through the apartment but if you keep the kitchen door shut its fine. They only give you 2 loo rolls, which was the same last time so we had to go and buy some more. The WiFi didnt work even though the green light was on the router. This is a problem as your in the middle of nowhere and the service reception is pretty bad for your mobile phones and we couldn't use our laptops. These are pretty minor things in the grand scheme of things and certainly wouldn't put us off staying again. Its a perfect getaway.

Excellent quiet and atmospheric property in historic location. Extensive grounds and gardens to explore and interesting tour of the Georgian house. NTS staff in the shop and house were very helpful and welcoming.
