At Elusive Daydream, the beach permeates every moment! This Cape Hatteras home is perched directly on one of the best beaches for surfing, fishing, and swimming on Hatteras Island, with the famed Cape Hatteras Lighthouse less than a mile away. You can even see the lighthouse from the top floor, and watch the light sweep across the ocean at night as you listen to the waves crash from your comfortable living room or bedroom. The views here are spectacular. If you bring your binoculars, you can see the wild waves of The Point. You can also catch regular glimpses of dolphins swimming just offshore and seabirds diving for fish. The oceanfront great room on the top floor has beautiful tongue-and-groove cedar accents, comfortable furnishings, flat screen TV with Roku and Spectrum cable, a gas fireplace, and decks with outstanding views. Sweet dreams await in the oceanfront primary bedroom on this level, which includes an attached bathroom with a jetted bathtub. You can watch the sun rise up out of the ocean without getting out of your queen bed, but you might want to sneak out through a sliding door to the attached deck to get the full effect of the magnificent sunrise. Head up to the furnished, third-level tower to watch the sun set into the sound. This is also a great place to play games and do puzzles, surrounded by water views everywhere you look. On the first level, there's an oceanfront queen bedroom with an en suite bathroom and direct access to a deck overlooking the ocean. The second queen bedroom on this level also has access to the deck. This room shares a hallway bathroom with the third bedroom on this floor, which has two twin beds and a slider to its own private deck. Sit down to eat indoors in the dining area adjacent to the well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, or head outside to the picnic table on the deck next to the kitchen. You'll have a pool table, a foosball table, and a ping-pong table in the garage for rainy day fun, as well as outdoor shower and high-speed internet. You will not be able to check in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement. After reading the reviews from the past, we planned for the worst and hoped for the best. Surprisingly maintenance issues still abounded, despite the numerous complaints of maintenance shortcomings. To the positive, the air-conditioning worked great, the hot tub was in perfect shape, the deck is newly redone and very good. The pool table and game area was usable and functioning well. Unfortunately, some basic maintenance issues still abound. The dishwasher worked once or twice and then was non-functional for the remainder of our visit. A repair man did come on Friday. The Vacasa maintenance man said that he had been out previously submitted a ticket but to no avail. The master bathroom upstairs had a non-functioning handle on the main sink faucet and it actually fell off. The faucet on the lwhirlpool tub was broken and fell off as well. The shower curtain was in a condition that reminded me of living in a men’s dorm in college. The screen door on one of the downstairs bedrooms was corroded shut, preventing egress from there. And a number of the windows had this fuzzy wooden thing happening, which was disconcerting. I feel nitpicky mentioning all these little things, but at the same time, it seems a handyman could fix most of these rather quickly. Nonetheless, the house is very comfortable and cozy, location was superb. We would be stay there again- it truly is a very special spot in the world. I think the Dolphins we saw each morning would agree!

This house has major plumbing issues that were not being addressed. We had toilets that did not flush and we had to empty buckets of water from a leak in the plumbing. The house is not safe and has a garage door that is ready to split in half. Our tv could not be used because it was missing the power cord. The toilets seats were disgusting and we had problems with major insects in the house.

Great view! But the house is a little rundown.

We loved our time at the Elusive Day Dream. There were a few issues with broken screens and things that I expect at the end of season, and with short staffing issues: the hot tub was broken (we were refunded for that part of our stay), and I wish that a few things could have been fixed, mattress pads and pillow cases that were missing could have been delivered. Still the view was unbeatable, and the layout worked perfectly for our family. We also loved that we could walk to local restaraunts, grocery stores, and custard. We would love to return.

The house needs maintenance. I had to keep my toddler from playing with large slivers of wood that were chipping off the doors inside. Hot tub was broken, lock on the sliding glass door was broken, and the drains downstairs were clogged. Even worse the property manager never tried to notify us that beach nourishment was scheduled and stadium style lights shined in our windows all night while the hodge shook and heavy machinery kept us awake. Nobody slept all week, and everyone was happy to end the vacation. If Vrbo or Vacasa offers an appropriate response I will update this, but don’t stay here.
