Hôtel du Château

Staff very pleasant and welcoming. Quiet location.

Beautiful location! Right next to the castle, with a wonderful panoramic view of the city. It is also away from the crowds and noise of the old town. The lobby is lovely, with plenty of books and tourist information leaflets.

It may not be ideal for guests who are used to having air conditioning. The room has a fan, but it struggles to keep the room cool (It was a particularly hot day, with temperatures above 35°C/95°F).

Brilliant location

The only real advantage of this hotel is its fantastic location right next to the château. I would strongly advise travellers to avoid Room 4 on the ground floor.

We arrived shortly before 12:00, check‑in is scheduled for 13:00. Following the reception’s direction to use restroom, I accidentally walked into Room 4, which would later be assigned to us. We came back to the hotel at 21:05. This ground‑floor room was extremely noisy. On the left side of the window there were groups of people dining outside, while on the right we constantly heard children shouting and playing. One window faces the car park, the other looks straight onto the hotel garden path at eye‑level, leaving zero privacy if we open the window. There is no air‑conditioning in the room, so we could not open windows for fresh air. I messaged the hotel twice via the booking platform, requesting to move to an upper‑floor quieter room for the next day. There was no reply until 10:36 the following morning. Their reply stated room changes must be done before 11:00, but we were already out sightseeing and impossible to return in time. Our request for room change could not be fulfilled. Facilities also have practical drawbacks. The bathroom has no window; the light works together with the extractor fan, which produces very loud noise when running. There is a kettle in the room, yet no power socket on the table where the kettle sits, making it unusable.
