Owner was super lovely and helpful. The building is very traditional and full of character. Nicely away from the center but one minute walk from the bus so doesn't feel out of the way. Room was clean and spacious. Highly recommend!

昭和5年に建てられたという重厚な歴史的価値ある旅館。
ポットなどの備品に至るまで当時のものを大切に保守していて、古い旅館好きにはたまらない。逆に言えば、最新の設備やサービスを求めるユーザーにはミス・マッチだと思う。それ相応のコストをかければ、ふさわしい宿が他にたくさんある。
若女将は気さくな方で、前日朝食の確認でお電話した時からフレンドリーに湯河原の食事情などをお伺い出来て楽しかった。旅は出発する前からが旅」を実感した。チェックインしてからもつかず離れずの接客にプロの女将を感じた。
レビューを拝見すると若女将の評価がいい悪いでハッキリ二分されているようだが、こちら側の態度に問題はなかったのだろうか。レビューはこちら(宿泊者)が一方的に書けるので、たまたまその人にとって悪い体験と感じたことも誇張して書いてしまう。
なお、メールを読んでいない云々というレビューがあったが、Boking.comのシステムにも問題がありそうだ。中継しているらしく、やりとりに遅延がみられた。こちらからのリクエストメッセージに携帯番号も書いておくとスムースかもしれない。デジタルネイティブ世代の人には対抗があるかもしれないが、こまかいリクエストは直接電話してしまうのも吉かと。
Wi-Fiは家庭機の無線ルーター(AP)を複数設置しているので部屋やお客様の入りによって快適度が左右されそう。2F奥では2.4GHz帯で50～60dBと電界強度は良好であった。
これは和風旅館のこだわりかもしれないが、和式便器しかないので注意。あと、夏季以外でも蚊がいるので蚊取り対策を女将に相談しておくとよいかもしれない。(4/2現在。居室にて蚊(羽音と痒み)を確認。それぐらい自然に囲まれた宿なのだろう。蚊ごときで目くじらを立ててはいけないw
