About this house rental
1 story, 3 bedroom, 1 bath home with living room, family & eat in kitchen. In the back yard is a working horse farm / barn (In town Ranch) on 7 acres of pasture. There are horses, chickens & kitty cats. This home is near Sky Dive Chicago, Starved Rock, Matthiessen, Buffalo Rock, Illini State Parks, the Middle East Conflicts Wall, & the Illinois & Michigan Canal Heritage Corridor. Downtown Ottawa has a beautiful river walk, historic murals, & many restaurants, pubs and brewery.

We were given the wrong key code for the house which didn’t start our trip on the best note but Katie called and gave us the correct code. The house was a nice 30 minute walk to the downtown and 20 minute drive to Starved Rock State Park. The house appeared clean on the surface but after a closer look there was crumbs on the floor in the kitchen, dust under the beds and a dust covered face mask behind one of the beds that was left from a previous guest. Small brown ants were on the kitchen table and counters. Katie brought us one ant trap, which was nice but didn’t help much. The fridge was old/rusty and leaked water on the bottom shelf. The house has a lot of potential. Katie was very quick to respond with any questions.

Everything was clean, cozy, and comfortable! My only suggestion would be handholds in the tub/shower and maybe a little railing on the two steps.

Katie was a great host. If you are looking for quiet trip to decompress from life or the city - this is the place. All the accommodations are there and we were close to Starved Rock for our hiking adventure.

This place has a lot of character! The amenities and decorations were really nice. Unfortunately, there were a lot of spiders throughout the entire home and in the cupboards and cabinets.
