Superb location on a tree lined street surrounded by interesting shops and other facilities. Very clean and modern. Confortble rooms. Excellent pool and gym. The buffet breakfast is comptehensive.
For breakfast you have to walk across the street to the sister hotel, also called Donghu.

Warm friendly staff. Rooms serviced daily. Modern comfortable and spacious room. The Decor and furnishings were lovely. Very quiet. Location could not be better, on the best street in the French Concession area surrounded by excellent restaurants bars and cafes. Good gym sauna and swimming pool.

The location is amazing right in the heart of the French concession.
The staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming. The check-in experience wasn't the best, and the receptionist came across as quite cold. Unfortunately, check-out was no better. There was no "thank you for staying" or "hope you enjoyed your stay", just a very bland interaction that left an unfriendly final impression.
I was told that breakfast was in another building and was simply pointed in the general direction. What wasn't explained was that it was actually across the road and not connected to the hotel. Knowing that at check-in would have saved some confusion.
The room itself was also disappointing. It was very small and the layout wasn't particularly practical. It would probably have been fine for a one-night stay, but I was there for four nights, which made the lack of space much more noticeable. I also wasn't keen on the layout. Opening the door gave a direct view of the bed, which made the room feel less private than I'd expect from a hotel. It wasn't a layout I found particularly comfortable for a longer stay. Storage was also limited, and the open wardrobe by the entrance wasn't particularly practical. It made the room feel more cluttered and offered very little space to unpack properly.
I never actually made it to breakfast. It was pouring with rain every morning, and as I had to go outside with an umbrella to get there, I decided to eat elsewhere while exploring the city. In the end, I found much friendlier service at the cafés and restaurants nearby.
