YHA Grasmere Butharlyp Howe

Conveniently situated for bus stops which are a 5 minute walk away. Buses are frequent between Windermere and Grasmere ( every 20 mins during the day). Good flow of buses passing through the village between Keswick and Kendal. Shops, cafes and a Co-op grocery store also in the same vicinity. Grounds and location of hostel are quiet with nature on your doorstep. We were in the annexe, room 15 for 4 nights where the toilet and shower room were next door so very convenient and we never had to queue as this building holds only a few guests. However there is a well equipped kitchen with ovens, hobs, microwave, fridges and freezers etc in the same building so no need to walk to the main hostel area. There is even a cosy lounge where you can relax after a day out in this lovely scenic area of the Lakes. We met a few interesting and like-minded folk whilst staying there and found the staff helpful.

A YHA signpost would have been helpful in the village itself, particularly useful for those walking. There is wifi but a bit erratic.

The property was very clean. Our room was ready, it was comfier than expected, we slept till 9 and had a panic 😱 The curtains kept all the light out. It was very quiet. Plenty of toilets and shower rooms. Fantastic location, for the price it was brilliant. Nice welcome from the lady on reception. Had tea and crisps, didn’t have breakfast there. Would happily return.
