The guesthouse is basic but has everything you need. The bathroom and toilet are shared, and the rooms lead onto the kitchen, where you can meet other guests and exchange tips about your itineraries.
The guesthouse is very well located, just a 5-minute walk from the bus station, shops, and restaurants. Most people seem to stop in Kochkor on their way to Song Kul, or between Issyk Kul and other destinations, so it’s more of a convenient stopover to break up the long journey.
One thing to keep in mind if you’re not travelling light: you have to climb a few stairs to reach the guesthouse.
Breakfast was nice, with homemade dishes, and the staff were flexible with the breakfast hours, which was convenient.
Overall, our one-night stay was pleasant. The only downside is that the rooms are not particularly quiet, especially if other guests are spending time in the kitchen. This can make it difficult to rest.
The main issue during our stay was that the electricity, including the Wi-Fi, was switched off at 10 a.m., even though check-out was at 11 a.m. We were waiting for our driver to Song Kul and had planned to use that extra hour to recharge our phones and use the bathroom, so it was an unpleasant surprise to find that everything had already been switched off.
Aside from that, it was a nice and convenient place to stay for a night in Kochkor.
