The cabin was quaint and clean. Great places to eat in Grand Marais. Can catch the Sunrise in front of the cabin on the bay and can catch the sunset on Lake Superior on the beach.

The location was great, nice to be on the water and hear the waves. The firepit was great too (but need to buy your own firewood at the store in town). However, the house itself is very dated (some might say "rustic" or "vintage") and could use a good dose of TLC and updating. The washer and dryer had notes on them saying they didn't work.

Very clean we had a nice stay. Grass could’ve been mowed. Could use some updating front door not lockable only with the latch hook up. Front stairs should be replaced. Dryer didn’t work. We would’ve left a tip for cleaning but the rules of the house made us feel like we had to clean it before we left. We are not dirty people we are 65-year-old women. I can see you putting towels in bathtub but to go and have to put them in the washer and get the washer going before we left dishes had to be all washed and put away. I don’t mind washing dishes but pushing people to do it that’s what you have cleaning people for. Tried contacting the host friend left something there have not responded I texted her on the day we came in to find out where the key was finding the front door with a rock against it to keep the door shut hence finding front door only locked by that hook latch. I know Grand Marias is laid-back town I have a place in Curtis Michigan, which is about the same. No response from host. Still waiting on response from her of missing item of my friend.

Overall we had a great stay!! Leslie took care of all issues promptly. The location is beautiful & perfect for rock hunting. We even found Yooperlites at the house. We booked it for 7 adults & 2 teens. 2 adults couldn’t make it and I was so glad. There’s no way we would have comfortably fit 9 adults in the house. We had trouble getting 7 of us to fit at the dining room table. We had to pull it out and every one sat one at a time as we moved chairs in. 2 left mid week and we fit 5 of us comfortably. Everything worked in the kitchen. They had pans big enough for all of us. There was not a lot of storage room for our food tho. I pack in giant black bins and I had to leave them under the table in the kitchen. I did mention that to Laurie tho so hopefully she’s working on getting more storage. We were constantly moving things in the kitchen to serve/make meals but I knew when I booked it would be tight. Coffee drinkers there was a coffee pot no Keurig. There was a little grocery/hardware store locally but it’s more for forgotten items than full shopping. The beds were all comfortable. My kids & husband are 5’11” to 6’5” so they had a little trouble with the height of the shower but they made it work. It’s definitely an older family home in the UP. There’s not a ton of plugs in the bedrooms bc of that. If you need a CPAP you’ll need to stay in the green room or bring an extension cord. Id definitely book again. It was a great value for the location with a beautiful view.

Loved the quiet location. Everything was neat and tidy. We enjoyed our stay a lot. Just sitting by the fire pit and the water was so relaxing.

Grand Marais is such a perfect, quiet little vacation town in the UP but come prepared. There is only one small grocery shop with very little selection. 1hr drive each way to get to a regular grocery store. Luckily, I packed our proteins/meats and just purchased what we needed at a premium cost in town. The house itself is exactly as described/pictured...dated but maintained. The bayside bedroom mattress does need replaced; it was very bent/curved. Check-in & check-out was very easy however communication in the months leading up to reservation was poor; I had to call VRBO to get the owner to respond to my numerous messages/questions so thank goodness I had no problems during the stay that I needed to reach the owner. The beach area directly behind the house does have large rocks so a bit tricky to get to the water from the house but the views are AMAZING! We had to launch our heavy kayak from the boat ramp right down the road. The houses on both sides are also rentals and backyards are very close. Overall, I gave this house a 4 out of 5.

My daughters and I enjoyed our stay in Northern Mi. The property was exactly what we needed, peaceful and serene, with beautiful views of the lake and sunsets right around the corner. We loved it!

Pros:This cottage is cute, has lots of sleeping options, is well furnished, nice water pressure in the shower, faucets, great location, gorgeous views, surrounded by beaches and the nearby attractions are amazing! Cons: Some things weren't very clean, some of the dishes, sticky stuff on walls near the sink, leaking & spraying faucets, lights didn't work, door knob fell off, we weren't able to find oars or a plug for the boat. We came home from the beach on the second day to find some men at the property. We saw a truck in the driveway with tools in it, and when we pulled in, they said it wasn't supposed to be rented and that they were there to do paint and work on the place. They said that it wasn't the first time it's happened at different properties. We let them know that it was rented and that they had to leave. The basement door was open and our stuff was inside the house, so I hope they didn't have access to our property. They were bothered because it's a waste of their time too and as contractors ourselves, we know that time is money and it seemed totally unprofessional. I tried to contact the owner via email on vrbo and their website, and even called, but no responses. It's unfortunate because the price is right for this property full of potential but this lack of communication and attention to detail for 200/day makes it feel like our business isn't valued at all.
