The room was super comfortable and clean. I loved that I was able to schedule a manicure and pedicure in the hotel.
The property was fine but once you stepped away from the property, there was trash everywhere. Not Mövenpick’s fault but really sad to see such a beautiful place so disrespected.

Five stars on paper, three in practice
We stayed at Mövenpick Hotel Lalez Durrës expecting the standard the brand and the five-star classification imply. The setting and the building are pleasant, but too many basics were either broken, neglected or simply not followed up, and that is ultimately what separates a five-star hotel from any other hotel.
**The room**
The air conditioning did not have the capacity to cool the room properly, so it stayed uncomfortably warm throughout our stay. In this climate and at this price point, a room you cannot cool is a real shortcoming. We also reported that the bathroom scale was broken. It was never replaced — not that day, not later in the stay. A five-star property should close that loop within the hour.
**The pool**
What is not made clear at the time of booking is that the outdoor pool is shared with another hotel. That is information guests should have before they book, not discover on arrival. The pool itself is dated, and the sun loungers were properly rusty and far from fresh. Sun loungers are the first thing a guest touches when they sit down by the water, and rust is not something you expect to find at this level.
**Gym**
The gym needs a full overhaul. The equipment is visibly worn, and the treadmill belt slipped when walking or running, which is both frustrating and a safety concern. The water dispenser was empty, and I mentioned this at reception one morning. When I came back to train the following morning, the bottle still had not been changed. Replacing a water bottle is about as simple as hotel maintenance gets — that it was left undone for more than 24 hours after a guest reported it says more about the service culture than the gym itself.
**Spa**
We wanted to use the hammam, but it was not switched on. We were told it would be ready in five minutes; realistically it needed closer to thirty, so we had to give it up.
