Location was fantastic - well placed in the old town with easy access to waterfront, zona velha/market and many local bus stops. We took an easy walk to the west side of Funchal and beyond, as there is a nice coastal path around to follow.
Loads of restaurants and cafe to select from and you can access many other areas of the island independently using the bus network if you don't hire a car.
Plenty of space for my husband and I. Bed was super comfortable (firm) and the bedroom + bathroom were a decent size. The bedroom has a small balcony coming off and an air conditioning unit (which ran quietly). Bathroom was clean and modern. Upstairs, the kitchen was well equipped, the sitting area open up onto a large terrace that caught the sun until 1.30pm (in December). Its a great use of space - well designed and styled! We were really pleased with the location and comfortable staying in what felt like own own little home in Funchal.
We booked a taxi through booking to take us into Funchal from the airport and the driver was literally able to stop right outside the door.
Water in the shower took a long time to drain, but otherwise it was a very clean and modern bathroom!
