Simple auberge in the centre of Poueyferre, a village some 5 kms or so north west of Lourdes. A warm welcome from the host, an aperitif on the terrace, an excellent dinner, a good night’s sleep and good breakfast.
We walked in to Lourdes (about one and a half hours via the Chemin du Lac and Chemin Henry IV [don’t attempt to walk on the main road]) and returned on the bus (two hourly to the Marie - a short walk from the auberge).
Overall an excellent alternative to staying in Lourdes and great value for money
The bed was small and the mattress protector a little noisy - but we selected the basic room

Une auberge de charme où on se sent comme chez soi et où l'on est tellement bien accueillis. La literie est confortable, les chambres joliment décorées avec un petit plateau d'accueil, c'est calme. Quant à l'excellent petit déjeuner très copieux avec les produits locaux et les viennoiseries toutes fraîches, et le dîner avec les plats fait maison, savoureux et bien cuisinés, un vrai régal !
