Everything about the Anglers Arms was very good. The staff are friendly and helpful, the room/beds comfortable, the food and drinks were nice and the location is lovely with peaceful walks from the door. There are signs to St Oswald's Way which you can follow. The noise from the bar under our room could have been a problem for some guests.

Pleasant, bright room. Friendly staff and generous portions for Sunday roast
The mattress seemed a bit tired and worn. The scrambled eggs at breakfast were tasteless

Location was good for us as we were attending a sporting event nearby.
The little touches were nice decent tea/ coffee complimentary water in room, lovely fluffy towels and crisp white bedding, bedroom could do with a mirror on the dressing table.
On the surface it looks good new floors/ seating in bar but it is the attention to detail that needs addressing, just needs a good thorough overhaul, the carpet leading to upstairs looked like it hadn’t seen a hoover for a while… walls and doors in need of a repaint … our shower was blocked so over flowed…
