Friendly and helpful staff and close to the beach.
According to booking.com the unit I booked comes with minibar, refridgerator, iron, mosquito net and electric kettle, but it didn't. I could use the fridge and the kettle in the kitchen though.
Total room price according to booking.com LKR16,422.60, but I was charged LKR 21,000. Even with 18% government tax I do not reach that amount.

The AC in the room makes a plus.
The owner can drive you anywhere by tuk tuk and rent a scooter.
Upuveli is definitely the place to stay on the east coast
The food wasn’t good at all. We only had breakfast and the coffee, pancakes and porridge were really bad. We didn’t eat there afterwards.
Also, when booking transportation with them make sure you check prices in the town because they tried to make us pay more than the market price.
Location is a bit far away from the center (10min walk)
The walls are really thin and we could hear everything.
Also there was a water shortage and wifi wasn’t working.

Positif : chambre propre, bonne clim, grand lit
Négatif : chambre petite et sombre, vue sur le parking et fauteuils devant la chambre utilisés par tout le monde, douche sans pression, pas de table de nuit, pas de frigo, pas de bouilloire, draps et serviettes très usés, oreillers moisis qui ont été changés à notre demande. Chemin vers la plage très sale. Restaurant sur le toit de la Guesthouse qui semblait fermé, il a fallu chercher quelqu'un pendant 10 minutes pour qu'ils ouvrent, allument etc. Personnage très particulier et de mauvaise foi. Je ne recommande pas.
Ps : chambre triple de luxe, 31 dollars par nuit
