It's a very special little gem that we found, especially for a special occassion like my husband's 50th birthday. The setting is magnificent, the room was amazing, the food is a 10/10 and the staff are outstanding!
The only thing we would have changed which is quite a big one. We were looking for a holiday that was a whole wellness experience which is why we booked at FFS. I.e. somewhere different in a beautiful setting, with good food, wellness treatments and activities, a bit of art deco/ beautiful rooms and fabulous service. We got everything except the wellness part. The prices are prohibitive for South African guests. Had it have been affordable we would definitely have had at least one treatment each, every day, done a Yoga or Thai Chi class and definitely gone on an arranged hike. And the facilities were completely empty, which made us think that you have this part a bit wrong. So I'd still give the resort a 9/10 for everything mentioned above, but the 1 that was missing was a big one for us.

Amazing location, stunning architecture and landscapes, wonderful food and very happy, friendly and helpful staff. The sanctuary style place feels more like a private residence with an amazing blend of modern architecture and Eastern and African architecture and interior design, than a hotel. The heated pool, private underground cinema, communal dinner experience, feeling of privacy, spa and gym are all very memorable moments. It’s an absolute must to experience, and I would definitely go back again. It’s a place you go to relax, instead of using it purely as a place to sleep. You really feel the passion and care from the owner and management to make this a wonderful experience for every visitor.
Very little not to like. Shower water didn’t get very warm and had low pressure, even when turned to max. The entry gates are extremely slow to open and close, and unmarked as Future Found Sanctuary. It’s in essence 3-4 stunning houses on a very large plot of land in an residential area. And, if you stay at the Villa Verte (in our case) you get send to another gate higher up the hill to enter the property through another gate, making the arrival feel a little confusing and disorienting. It also doesn’t have your traditional reception, but rather a butler type approach where somebody greets you when you walk into the house. This could be guided better to make the arrival smoother.
