The Tinners House was by far our best vacation rental in our many years of visiting Florida in January . It is located in a stylish, quiet friendly uptown neighborhood a short walk to San Marco Avenue, the fort, the water, Fountain of Youth and old town. The home comfortably accommodates large groups and multiple generations with a first floor bedroom and bath and 2 upstairs bedrooms and a bath. The home was exceptionally clean. Our hosts always responded in minutes and we met the lovely property manager when she quietly dropped by each week to take the trash out. Plenty of outdoor space to enjoy with the two screened in porches and lovely courtyard behind the house. We really enjoyed the gas grill.
My favorite part of the home was the large kitchen with abundant storage space and everything a cook would need to prepare meals.
We look forward to returning to The Tinner house or another St. Augustine I trip property.

Home is lovely and spacious! It’s a short walk to downtown St. Augustine. Recommend this property.

This house was the perfect location to visit St Augustine. We were able to walk to everything downtown easily under 10/15 minutes and return to a quiet neighborhood. The house itself was spacious and never felt crowded, even with 7 adults and 3 small children. Check in was super easy! There is street parking available if you have an extra car, which would have been nice information to have up front, instead of stressing about the parking garage. I would absolutely stay in the house again and recommend to friends and family visiting.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The home was clean and very well kept with plenty of comfortable sleeping space for our girls weekend getaway. The screened in porch on the first and second floor were wonderful to keep the mosquitoes away while enjoying the peaceful neighborhood. My only suggestion is more seating on the porches. We were a group of 6 and wanted to spend time on the porch together but seating was limited. Check in and check out was incredibly simple and we had no issues. I would stay again and recommend it highly! We have already suggested it to some other friends because of our experience. Thank you for opening your rental to us!

As Mary Poppins is described….this place was practically perfect in every way!
Of course the location was perfect - walkable to the fort, St. George Street, the hop on hop off trolley stop, as well as the ever awesome Itty Bitty Donut shop.
From communication, to cleanliness to check-in, we could not have asked for a better home away from home. A place we know without question that we will book in years to come.
The home was exceptionally clean, comfortable and a well stocked kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed an unseasonably ‘not too hot’ weather anomaly; enough so we could enjoy the outdoor chairs and fire pit.
The only suggestion we can think of for others is to say - if you love it dark like I do, bring a sleeping mask if you’re upstairs. While it is lovely to have tons of natural light, some black out shades would be cool. But no worries, as I always travel with a mask, so I was ready!
We really couldn’t think of anything that would have made our stay better, other than wishing it was longer!

We had a great time with our friends at the Tinner’s House. We appreciated the proximity to the city and the great shops a block or two away. The kayaks and the rollers included with the stay was a nice touch to be able to paddle around the intercoastal. The large room with two twin beds and a queen was great for all the kids to stay in. The other two rooms with king beds was great for the adults. Beds were comfortable but a little old as they were squeaky. We loved the screened in porches! Great stay overall and would definitely stay here again.

Great house and location. Well water does tend to give it a bad odor ever once in a while. However, we would stay there again

What a wonderful experience my family had at the Tinner's House. Being in such a great location in walking distance to Historic St. Augustine made our history lovers very happy. The Tinner's house was clean, spacious and up-dated to all our needs. Thanks for the use of the Kayaks which was such a special bonus. Being so close to the Kayak water entry point made the journey easy. Looking forward to booking again next year.

Great property, great location, great all around! The house was very clean and cozy, and we had everything we needed for our stay. Within walking distance from downtown St. Augustine and all the historic sites and attractions, and only a 6 minute drive to Vilano Beach. We also loved the convenient bay access at the end of the street for kayaking (kayaks were included with the rental as well). The property owner was very attentive to our needs and responded promptly when we had questions. We were so pleased with the Tinner House and had a great time in St. Augustine!

Such a nice house in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of everything!
There's enough parking for 2 cars in the driveway, in case anyone was wondering. The house is well furnished and had all the amenities, including TV and fast WiFi. We had a great time here and would recommend it to a family or multiple families like we did.
Hope to come back again!

Our family really enjoyed our stay at the Tinner house. The house is spacious and beautifully decorated. We loved all of the natural light from the windows and two screened porches. The location is perfect, on a quiet side street, and an easy walking distance to restaurants and the historical section of St. Augustine. We had an issue with the water heater at the beginning of our stay, but the property manager was very prompt to respond and fix the problem.

This property was perfect for our get away with our adult children. We only drove our vehicle once or twice. We could walk or catch the trolley to everything! The fort was close by and so were restaurants and shopping. The home has so much character and lots of natural light. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! It met all of our expectations and we would gladly stay again!

Loved our stay! House is conveniently located and exactly how described in listing. The upstairs toilet is a little finicky….runs for a very long time before you can flush again, but once figured out, worked out fine.

Our overall impression of this property is excellent! The house looked just like the pictures. The bedroom are very spacious. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc. Excellent check-in in/check out procedures. Great communication with hosts! The location was also perfect! Would love to stay here again. Thank you!

This lovely house was a great location. Everything was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay very much. Compared to other VRBO rentals I’ve had in the past, We all felt the house could have been better stocked/equipped, especially in the kitchen. Additionally, we were unable to access the kayaks. We were not sure where they were but assumed they were in the garage which was padlocked. Not a big deal though and certainly not a deal breaker. For our group, this house was an excellent choice.

We really enjoyed this property. Its so close to the Castillo and all sites in that area, 5 stars from us. We brought bikes and rode almost everywhere, even to some shops and restaurants over Lions Bridge. The kayaks were a nice addition since the put-in spot is about 4 houses away. Just be careful not to get caught by low tide. We came back in from a kayak outing at about an hour before low tide and barely had enough water level to make it back up the creek to the landing (the other direction of the creek was totally bottomed out).
One note on the house- there is alot of light in this house. The window in the upstairs master that faces East doesnt have shutters or curtains at the top, so sun-up is full on in the room. Also theres a note by the switches downstairs to leave the front porch light on all night (this is apparently the custom in the neighborhood), but it proved to be too much light in the downstairs master so our group cut it off. Finally the third bedroom has a window overlooking the kitchen and this window has no treatment, so when the kids are bedding down the adults downstairs have to keep the kitchen lights down so they can sleep. Id suggest the owner might add window treatments in the various rooms to manage the light.
Finally there are a number of cooking pans in the kitchen all of which are non-stick and are totally scratched up. Non-stick pans that have damaged finishes can leach carcinogens into food so Id suggest replacing them with a stainless pan or two. We bought our own and thoroughly enjoyed cooking on the gas stove. The kitchen is nice and otherwise stocked with plenty of dishes and utensils. Theres a nice new fridge with a great ice maker.
Again we loved the place, 5 stars.

The house was fantastic and the furniture was comfortable. We parked our cars in the driveway and was able to walk or Uber anywhere we wanted to go. It was a lovely trip!

Ultimately not responded to in time to help us. The gas was probably very unsafe to breathe but . . .
Opening doors and windows was also not an option as the neighborhood is subject to prowlers and petty theft. The shed at the back of the driveway was broken into on Monday morning before sunrise, and the local police woke us up at 7:00 a.m. that day to tell us about it. A maintenance man (who came out Monday afternoon to look at the plumbing to track down the odor's source) said he had to clean up some broken glass in the shed, replace lightbulbs, other...I had stopped listening at that point.
Also want to note: the living room was very dirty -- the floor underneath the love seat & chair were filthy, covered in dirt and dust bunnies. Beware of you have to dig through a couch cushion for anything you may have dropped -- all kinds of ick under every cushion. The master bedroom had a dirty sock under it and lots of dirt, dust. (Not sure if that's the same sock in an April review but have to wonder.) And it's all so visible because the furniture is raised on 6" feet.
So if you do stay at the Tinner House, be prepared for a potentially very stinky experience, little sleep, a bit of dirt, weak response from the management company, and possibly theft.

Loved the Tinners House
We loved staying at the Tinners House. Beautiful house with large bedrooms and great decor. We had 9 people and it accommodated us well. The neighborhood is so pretty with close access to the fort and downtown St. Augustine. The hosts were very nice and communicated well. We hope to stay here again. Highly recommend!

Rental process was great! Property was excellent for our two families. Cleaning company should be re- evaluated as there were dirty dishes, mold in kitchen and food left on the porch. Location to downtown is amazing.

Wonderful St. Augustine Location
My wife and two children spent five nights in St. Augustine. This house was wonderful. Check in was a breeze. Walkable to all of the attractions (Castillo, St. George St., Lightner Museum, Fountain of Youth). Just walking through the neighborhood admiring the houses surrounded by oaks with Spanish Moss was wonderful. Screened balconies on two levels were great places for our morning coffee, reading, and watching afternoon thunderstorms pass by. The beaches and boat tours were only minutes away and the property offers kayaks that can be put into the water in just a few minutes. We would stay here again if in St. Augustine in the future.
One note about dining out in St. Augustine - we hoped to avoid the weekend crowds at restaurants by dining in them on Monday and Tuesday only to find that most restaurants are closed on Monday, Tuesday, and sometimes Wednesday.

Overall we had a wonderful time at this property. It was very spacious and light-filled. There was always a good breeze from the balcony. We loved watching sunsets in the morning, taking the kayaks out, walking in the lovely neighborhood past the fort into town for dinners and driving the quick 7min drive to the beach. We would definitely recommend this property and would stay again in a heartbeat.
