Gorgeous view and good size property for large family gathering

Everything was as described in the description of the property. Karen wwas so quick to reply to all my questions. The place was clean and the kitchen was well supplied with the needed utensils. We did have to hand wash all dishes but that may have been a shortcoming on my end regarding the dishwasher (couldn't find pods or figure it out etc). The sunsets are so worth it and the game room downstairs is well stocked too. My friends and I had a great time. Great price for a large group too! Thanks Karen :)

It’s such a lovely place with an amazing view. Good thing we got to enjoy the sunset on our first night before it started raining for the rest of the weekend. Good thing Karen has a lot of activities and games for indoor.

This place was a great place to spend time with family. There were a lot of games to play as a family. We were all comfortable. We enjoyed the sunsets as well as the camp fires. The cottage was clean, comfortable and we had everything we needed. One small recommendation, hooks on the bedroom doors would of been appreciated. We were a lot of people and there wasn't a lot of places to hang our towels to dry. We didn't care for the weeds in the lake but it didn't stop us from swimming off the dock.

We had a wonderful time at the Sundown Cottage. Our kids enjoyed playing with all the inflatables. We had an adventure with the canoe and paddles boat. There were lots of cozy touches with blankets, outdoor seating. The check-in process was easy and Karen was attentive. The kitchen was adequate. Restaurants are about 20 minutes away.

Honestly, if it weren't for the flood in the basement and the owner's seemingly indifference about the issue, we likely would have enjoyed our stay much more. The place wasn't incredibly clean when we arrived, but I at least was willing to overlook that. The basement however had had a flood, and if you walked around, water would seep up from the floorboards. We were not informed of this before we arrived, and when we expressed concern, the owner became defensive and rude. If she had apologized, acknowledged that water seeping up from the floor was an issue, and tried to make up for the loss of space we would have been much happier.
It was the children's play area so we were not able to use it the entire week, and our vacation was more cramped than we would have liked, as we had a number of young children in our group.
I lodged an official complaint, and am still waiting to hear back regarding the result.
I would recommend staying elsewhere.

We spent a long weekend at this lovely, homey cottage with our children and grandchildren. It was perfect for us. Well-stocked, kid-friendly, so much to do and sunsets beyond beautiful!

The cottage is lovely, well furnished and decorated. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, soap, spices, condiments in the fridge. The downstairs was great with a big tv and seating area and game tables, lots of fun. The outside had lots of seating for everyone, we ate dinner on the front deck, where the BBQ was, it was so peaceful and had shade. There was a big dock with a canoe and 2 paddleboats.
There were 2 king sized beds, that were IKEA single beds with a pull out to make it into a king with thin mattresses. Not was we had anticipated. The lake is great for fishing, not for swimming. There were lots of reeds at the shoreline and beyond. We did drive to the beach which was small and the water was cloudy.
Our three generation family had a great vacation and I would recommend this cottage.

I stayed at Sundown Cottage with my four adult daughters and we had a wonderful time. The pictures don’t do this property justice! Access to the lake is just beautiful and the house had everything we needed.

Other reviews are fully accurate - the place was exactly as described and the pictures don't do it justice. A bit of a smaller cottage but easily able to accommodate 10.

Location was great! Shops were only 10 minutes away. Located right on the waterfront with some of the best fishing conditions you could ask for. If you dont like swimming with tall reeds and moss, there's a sandbar public beach only 10 minutes away. The basement was really musty smelling, could probably use a dehumidifier but everything was clean and in working order. Just dont forget to bring your own linens and towels. It had a fire pit and a fire bowl and everything to keep you active and occupied the whole time. The owner was sooo nice and easy to communicate with. Was perfect for our family reunion!

This was the best overall experience I’ve had with a VRBO property. Great amenities. Karen is an amazing host who went out of her way to ensure we had an amazing stay.

Karen is amazing to work with. She is very quick to respond to any questions. The kids loved the ping pong table, fuse ball and air hockey table. The huge sectional was a hit!
We stayed in the winter for a hockey tournament, summer would be great being so close to the water.

Lovely place for our family for a fall after-Thanksgiving trip. Plenty of room/space for Husband and I, Adult Children, a dog and a newborn Grandchild. The weather may have been cool and a bit wet sometimes, but the house was warm and comfortable, and the wonderful view of Lake Scugog greeted us each morning. Sunset was great too. It was well stocked with more than one coffee maker (we used both) and all the condiments and dishes we required.
The Wifi access was great and allowed some of us to zoom. I also appreciated that it was only an hour from Toronto.
Thanks to Karen for checking and answering our questions.
We had a lovely family get together.

Great stay with facilities to suit everyone. The house is very welcoming, as is the garden. There is something for everyone whether you want to relax or play. Would do again earlier in the season to enjoy the lake.

All around wonderful! Had our annual girls trip mid September and we had a blast! It was rainy the day we arrived so we enjoyed the games room - a little bit of activity and lots of laughs! On Saturday the rain cleared and we enjoyed the day on the dock and the night by the fire... we are already looking forward to our girls weekend next year! Karen thanks again for sharing your cottage with us!

We loved our stay at this lake front property. It has everything listed, and the amenities were top-notch!! The highlight is the breathtaking view of sunset, everyday!! There is plenty of room for many people. We were just 4 of us

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was clean and provided us with the space that our two families required. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate for the majority of our stay however the basement activities were exceptional and helped to keep us all entertained and happy when we could not be outside. We certainly look forward to an opportunity to return.

Great location on Lake Skugog, with a great view from the back deck overlooking the big yard. Cottage is well equipped with everything you need, lots of space on the main floor and in the basement games room. Granddaughter loved all the toys and games, including a huge chalk board in the basement. Karen was always available for little things that cropped up. Weeds in the water were a bit of a drawback, but otherwise it's a great place to spend a week or two.

Dream cottage you wish you could afford own.
My mom and their had the pleasure of renting this fine cottage in June 2022. The cottage itself was very well outfitted with everything we needed! Clean, spacious and comfortable! The views over river from the spacious deck were spectacular, especially the sunsets! The property itself was very private and sits far enough off the Road that you don’t hear any traffic. We had such a great time that we are hoping to return next summer! If you are looking for a family friendly, private, and waterfront cottage this is the one for you. Highly recommend!

A perfect place for family or group meeting
We had a wonderful stay at Karen’s place and she is a great hostess. We were seven and there was enough space for everyone. We particularly enjoyed the privacy of the yard and the decks where we could have tea, snacks, drinks and meals while watching the beautiful lake. The neighbouhood is very quiet and everyday I went for a long walk exploring the area. The house itself is well equipped, particularly the kitchen. A nice to have, would be a dining table outside on the deck in order to eat comfortably. The outer view is so beautiful that it is a shame to stay inside for meals. Thanks Karen for everything
