Located in Elk Lake, this charming house for $332 per night is a great choice for your next trip. This two-bedroom, one-bathroom log cabin on Elk Lake is a perfect small family or couple vacation spot. The location off a quiet road in Williamsburg is wonderful. Enjoy the sparkling blue, hard sandy bottom water of this all-sports lake. The main space in the home is a living room and dining area. Outside there is a cute little porch that is perfect for morning coffee and watching the sun come up. Talk about relaxing! The yard is spacious enough for kids to play and to walk the dog too. The main road to this house is pleasant to walk or ride your bike on. There is also a dock and fire pit. The house is near the Great Lakes Equestrian Horse Show, Turtle Creek Casino and Elk Rapids. It’s an easy trip to Traverse City. One pet allowed. -- THE PROPERTY -- Sleeps 7. The view of the lake was so relaxing. The Cabin is definitely old. But it could have been cleaner. There were spider webs inside by the fireplace, dust and dirt under the furniture. And on the small porch the table and chairs were dirty as was the grill. Also when the 1st person would take a shower they ran out of hot water so the next person had to wait for it to regenerate. But we stayed there to be right on the lake and it was only for 3 nights so we managed. The land was great just the cabin needs updated.

Bait and switch pricing. For the poor condition of the cabin the price was way too high. Wonky floors causing tripping and the smallest water heater known to man. Could use a dresser as there is almost zero storage. Closet storage is taken up by a fold out bed and a vacuum. Large private lot with a nice view, though. Beautiful sun rises.

We enjoyed our time at the rental cabin we had great weather and the lake was amazing. However the cabin was pretty dirty we even found mice nest we took pictures of and can send you them if you’d like. I was just about to post a review but wanted to inform you of these problems and see if there was anything you could do for me before since the group avoided being inside not knowing how clean it actually is.

This place worked out for us, but I want to emphasize it is VERY rustic. There are parts of it where you can see the light of day, which does let insects and critters in. We greatly appreciated that it was dog friendly, our dogs absolutely loved lounging in the sun lake side. One caution is there were several critter and bug traps which I had to pick up, because the gels are poisonous to dogs. We ended up meeting some of the neighbors in the area and everyone was great! You pay for the lake view, its so peaceful. I think the owners could put in a little bit of money to really make the place more cozy. Additionally we could have done with some house directions. Every rental we have ever stayed in has had them, but this didn't. For example it got chilly at night and we weren't sure which heaters to use and how. TV could have used instructions as well. We were likely the first up there for the season as the lawn needed mowing and the landscaping needed a spring clean up. The propery management company is really great to work with!

The cabin is lovely, great location on a secluded spot on a gorgeous lake. Do be aware that the bedrooms don’t have ceilings or proper doors, (sliding barn doors) so it’s a bit of a bunk house with interior walls. The little kitchen is just fine for what you’d expect and well stocked with what seems like 50 years worth of miscellaneous dishes and silverware and dullish knives and etc. the shower is the thing people should know about. It had one of those low flow shower heads which, in reality, is basically a vegetable mister like at the grocery store. So whatever hot water there is at the tap is a cold mist by the time it travels the foot or two to land like a gentle dew on your hair and body. Due to the age of the cabin and it’s rustic charms, the electric wiring is retrofitted and a bit touchy. We had to use several of the space heaters (which do get the job done) but it blew a fuse immediately which cut the power to the whole cabin. The problem was, couldn’t find the fuse box so had to call the rental company for help but they didn’t answer (yes, it was Saturday, but still business hours according to their voicemail message). I did eventually find the fuse box (it’s up in the rafters) and fixed the problem, but I never did get any call back or acknowledgment from them for the remainder of the stay, which included Monday and Tuesday. Overall, the property is great, just be aware that it has its quirks that you’ll hVe to work around, and I’m a bit disappointed in the lack of responsiveness from up north.

Property was not clean. Dust all over the gas fireplace front, crumbs and spots on the tables showing it had not been cleaned. Hair in shower drain and on shower floor. Several other things that showed the property had not been cleaned properly. Smoke detector chirped the whole weekend. Also, really wanted a working fireplace. Could not figure out how to turn it on, turns out the fireplace does not work. I did call and report these things to the rental company that night and they sent someone out the next morning, but not everything was taken care of. The chirping smoke detector was one of the things not taken care of. Really disappointed for as much as I paid for it and the "Cleaning Fee".

We picked this home with hope we could access the lake using the dock provided. Dock is more suitable for accessing the lake via ladder for swimming rather then for boat use. Several piles of boulders were in the path to access the dock. No mooring options were offered. The cabin is very rustic and ideal for use by a small family. Parking very limited and u most likely will not be able to drive in with a trailer in tow due to the narrow driveway. Suggest bringing a couple extra fans, multi plug electrical cord becuase there are limited outlets. Overall if your looking for a place to rest your head and don't want to stay in a hotel try this place it will provide enough to unplug and relax.

First off I don’t like giving a bad review. Let’s start with the good points. The cabin is quaint. Furniture is in great condition. The bed and mattress was comfortable. Now for the not so nice aspects . The cabin was not clean when we got here. There was food particles and dust under all furniture. Cobwebs all around the place. The freezer door was left ajar and water was on floor and inside the fridge. Which we had to clean up. After the second day, I needed to vacuum. The vacuum was so loud I had to use earplugs to run it. They did surface cleaned well. The top of the kitchen table was cleaned, while it was still wet a magazine was placed on it which left the magazine paper all over the top of the table top. Have photos to prove this. Thank goodness I brought magic eraser and got it off. According to the anemities, they have a hairdryer. None to be found in cabin. The most disturbing point was when my husband and I left for a day to go out and have a picnic. We noticed when we came back that the very small blue plastic bag, that I had left on the back porch, had been removed. It did not contain food. The reason I left it there was because it was garbage pick-up day and the garbage can was not brought back yet. Also, noticed that inside the cabin, the spare bedroom door was closed. This is where we kept our clothes and personal belongings. We never closed that door!! I asked the neighbors if they saw anyone at cabin today. The gentleman replied “I’ve been in Mackinac all day I didn’t see anything, why is there a problem”?I said actually yes there is , I left a small bag on the back porch it’s gone. At that point his wife fessed up and said “oh I was deadheading the flowers over there and I noticed it, so I picked it up”. Funny thing is there are no flowers to deadhead at this cottage. I continued and said well the second bedroom door is closed which holds our belongings.(Ran

This rustic cabin is a great place to hang on Elk Lake. Morning views are spectacular. Renters beware that there is no central heat, no ceiling in the bedrooms (ultimate open concept), and plumbing in the bathroom is reversed for hot and cold water. If your looking for a quiet rustic place, this cabin is for you!
