Nestled in Kawartha Lakes, this attractive cottage for $195 per night is a great choice for your next trip. Enjoy This Magical, Private River Front Cottage On Head River. This 2 Bed, 1 Bath, Open Concept Vaulted Pine Ceilings With A Wrap Around Deck Has Incredible Views Of The River. The Built In Bar And Large Deck Make This The Perfect Space For Entertaining Guests. Great For Fishing And Boating. This Large Lot Is Located On A Private Road Just under 2 Hours From The GTA. House Rules -No shoes inside the home. -No smoking inside the property. Cigarette butts must be disposed in the ashtray provided In the property. -Make sure to turn off the lights, fans and any electronics when you leave the house. Don’t forget to close the windows and lock the door. -Report any damages and/or breakages in a timely manner. -We have a sensitive septic tank, only flush toilet papers. -Please wash all used dishes. -Garbage will need to be disposed by the guest. -The wifi password is on the modem - ITS A SENSITIVE SEPTIC SYSTEM, ABSOLUTELY NO FEMALE OR MALE PRODUCTS TO BE FLUSHED.

This cottage was so beautiful and the neighbours were so friendly.

Place was exactly as listed! Clean, very well equipped! Host was very responsive! Couple of things though that could use a little thought 1: Is the TV is mounted in a awkward position for viewing from the couch. 2: Some solar powered noma lights to light the way down to the river and fire pit area. Overall, place is a total gem and would recommend to anyone who enjoys privacy, silence(other then the locals working on their properties during the day) and a great place to stay! Special thanks to Joey for her Saturday morning firewood delivery! Also to Abi for sharing this place with us, we will definitely be returning!

The property was in a great location and had all the amenities needed for a restful week. We had great campfires and delusions meals all cooked on the BBQ. We did many hikes throughout the week and bit of fishing off the property river.

My husband and our two kids (3 and 5) stayed for 3 nights and we wish we would of stayed longer. It is a true cottage with a huge amount of outdoor space. The area is SOO QUIET I believe there were maybe 5 more cottages and then a dead end ( when we went for a walk ) so the street is very quiet. The place had everything we needed and more. The amount of firewood supplied was amazing. My husband and I had a fire going for 3 days straight and big ones and it was more than enough. The little swing was an amazing addition for my daughter to enjoy swinging all day. The bbq and outdoor space very well kept. The linnens) I brought my own but didn’t have to change because the ones they have are very clean (white). The shower works great. Nice towels provided. We had wifi the whole time no problem. Overall…. We are definitely going back again!

Cottage - is larger than what I thought from the pictures. Large bedrooms with plenty of space to unpack. Kitchen/dining/living spaces are very comfortable. The cottage does not have AC but does have tower oscillating fans in each bedroom and living room. We were comfortable the entire time.
Yard - also very large. Great outdoor dining. BBQ works very well but probably could use a heat resistant mat underneath due to the rust dropping from it. That would protect the newly painted deck too. The fire pit is amazing. Perhaps it's due to the proximity to the river but the smoke was sucked out towards the water rather than our faces. The reception for cells isn't great everywhere on the property but we found the hot spots and had no issues receiving or sending text messages. The property gets sun but it's still very shaded so we chased it a bit.
River - I highly recommend exploring. Beautiful.
The cleaner stopped by to drop a new brush off for the BBQ and advised that if we needed anything at all to contact the owner who would contact them and they could be there in minutes. I thought this was a very thoughtful touch. The owner was very responsive and accommodating.

When we arrived I had to get back in my car drive back up towards the general store to get signal to retrieve the lockbox code! I should have had it the morning of not 2 hours before check-in! We drove over 4 hours to get there just to be disappointed how dirty it was inside… cobwebs in every room, windows clearly haven’t seen a rag in a really long time and I found a piece of fried chicken beside the stove! Grossed me out! If you have the livingroom lights on full brightness they flicker same with when they are dimmed…(we didn’t have the greatest weather it rained every other day) We also had the septic tank overflow into the shower while I was using it and couldn’t use the bathroom for 12 hours so that was unpleasant! When I messaged the owner I was told to try using the plunger and they would send out the septic people first thing the next morning… we won’t be returning!

Myself and 5 other 50+ year Olds had a wonderful reunion at this cottage on the river. Great property and lots of outside room to relax. No data for cells however WiFi was adequate. River great for kayaks and canoes mostly. Sleeping is fine for 6 if you are couples with kids. Overall Abi was great to deal with and enjoyed our stay a lot

Waked up early in the morning , Kayaking glides on calm creek that is hardly moving. I can see the perfect reflection of trees and houses on surface of water. Suddenly a big bird ( wooping crane?) flying away along the water. It was clear night , I could see so many stars are bright and shinny, along the milky way. It was a magical night.

We really enjoyed the river, kayaking, badminton, the firepit, and comfortable beds. There was lots of space for lounging, eating, and games. The kitchen could use a couple of large bowls, barbecue lighters and the main outlet for the toaster/coffee maker wasn’t working.

Very clean and comfortable cottage with some nice fishing up or down the river. Owner was very prompt and helpful with responses to our questions. Neighbour Tommy was a delight to meet and was a genuinely good guy. Would stay again :)

Excellent location. Mostly private. My only issue was with the neighbour's that own the lot next door that play music obnoxiously loud, ran generators all day, and played movies on projection screens at night. Thankfully they left Sunday and we were able to enjoy the peace for the rest of the stay. Would come here again!

It is nice place, but we think it is “luxury cabin”- biggest issue- no AC and this make sleeping very uncomfortable.
Another issue: if you want to swim - access to water and specially from water very very slippery, no deck or Pantone or ladder.
This is the only 2 “unlike”. Very quite. Fishing OK.
Good Internet . Clean, but garbage need to be taken with you.

Our family enjoyed our time here. We caught lots of fish in the river (perch & bass) & played w/provided badminton equipment & net. There's 2 kayaks: 1-person hardshell & 2-person inflatable (we opened new pkg). There's life jackets--size XL only. Look in shed if you don't see some of this stuff. Our kids discovered some animals: frogs, snakes, chipmunks & baby Robins. The internet speed is slow (normal in rural area?). We hit a max of 2-3 Mbps for downloads (ping 100+ms)--not ideal for a family of 4 streaming, video-calling & gaming. We had to disconnect all other devices first before streaming a movie to watch together. No reliable Rogers/Bell cell service (spotty w/no service for us most of the time). However, we brought walkie-talkies for communicating. Not the best place to be if you need to call 911. Tap water is filtered from the river & there is no air conditioning (listing's been updated now to more accurately state they have fans). A bottled water dispenser is provided, which helped during a heat wave. We had 35C humidex one night w/living room temp 28C. 3 tower fans helped move air around. Tried to open windows for a cool breeze at night but some screens had rips & could let bugs in. It'd be better if storm doors & window screens were replaced & extra fans provided. We used ice packs to cool down & cooked outdoors. BBQ w/propane & a nice fire pit w/wood were provided. General store w/an LCBO is 5 min away & Foodland is about 20 min. Some signage or labelled baskets could help orient guests. The cleaner could've done a more thorough job: cobwebs were in corners, kitchen drawers were sticky, drip coffee maker's removable filter was crusty & coffee pot had dried coffee. Looked like it wasn't washed in months. I was informed before check-in to clean the dishes we use before we leave. So, the guest before us & the host's cleaner didn't clean it. I disinfected & de-calcified the coffee maker w/vinegar for us & future guests. Host should state house rules up front before 1st cancellation deadline. I was told a day before check-in about the dishes & to take my garbage home or pay $20/bag to their cleaner. A garbage truck came by on Tues. Host should leave bins on driveway & give guests the info about the process for trash pick-up to avoid charges; we found out by asking the neighbour. Need compostable bags for green bin food waste. Despite a few unexpected issues, our family enjoyed this as our first ever cottage stay & will consider a return.

Beautiful, tranquil spot to get away to. Owner easy to deal with though some of their requirements should be posted in the listing or messaged well before the stay. Would have brought a few more everyday essentials had I known they were not stocked/missing eg. kitchen linens, bath hand towels, extra bowls. However many unexpected items were provided such as spring water for drinking, propane/bbq and a decent kayak though canoe was not there even though listed in the amenities. Bed and bath linens were provided and were good quality. Internet was great. Netflix provided. Nice bonus.
We truly enjoyed our stay but some issues in terms of maintenance need to be addressed.

Wow! If you love nature or want to love nature, this place is for you. Bring a canoe though as the inflatable kayak didnt quite cut it.

Exterior of the property is really old and need serious renovation. I needed a place for my son's golf tournament and did not realized that it was 1h away from the golf course. I asked the owner to cancel after a few hours and she said NO because it would affect her rating on VRBO... She would have had plenty of time to rent to somebody else. I rent VRBO all the time and would not recommend this place.

Exterior of the property is really old and need serious renovation. I needed a place for my son's golf tournament and did not realized that it was 1h away from the golf course. I asked the owner to cancel after a few hours and she said NO because it would affect her rating on VRBO... She would have had plenty of time to rent to somebody else.
