About this house rental

Nestled in Balsam Lake, this lovely house for $500 per night is a great option for your next break. [Note] Please do not submit a booking request without our approval. We use this as a family cabin and have many repeat customers that book with us direct. We will do our best to find you a slot to enjoy. Thanks! This four (4) bedroom, two (2) bathroom property will comfortably accommodate ten (10) people with ease. Feel free to relax, renew and rejuvenate with friends and family at this exclusive low key location. This lake house has all the amenities with an up north feel with tons of great wood in the house. Lots of great indoor and outdoor spaces. We have a waterfront boathouse with a nice high top table. We have a great rec room for those times when you need to get out of the bugs or the cold. This property is great for all the seasons. Lots of activities in this area all year long! Balsam Lake itself has much to offer – 2000+ acres of beautiful water, sandy lake bottom and great bays for water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing and all other water sports. With 7 occupied islands (and many smaller ones) and over 65 miles of shoreline, you’ll never run out of lake to explore! There is also great fishing (panfish and sport fish - including walleye), 2 restaurants you can reach by boat, and a marina with pontoon and fishing boat rental and a gas pump for fueling up on the lake! Plus, the natural springs that feeds the lake help to keep the water circulating and cleaner than manmade lakes. Wild life at the lake is a bonus enjoyment – turtles, loons, ducks, eagles, deer and even black squirrels! Downtown Balsam Lake is a quaint little strip and also fun to explore – great ice cream shop (a must-visit spot if your group has little ones), antique store, bait and tackle shop, dollar store, brewery, taverns, restaurants and more. Winter activities are also a highlight in this area. Snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing are all enjoyable activities on the frozen tundra or the 18 mile Cattail State Trail. Plus, Balsam Lake’s ice fishing could arguably top its summer fishing! After a short 25 minute drive, you can find yourself at either of the region’s best downhill ski areas – Wild Mountain or Trollhaugen! Not to mention, both have awesome outdoor summer fun activities as well. We know a really nice, large lake place is hard to come by. That’s why we are excited to share ours with you! We hope you’ll feel right at home as you walk in the door of our cabin… We know you will make special memories together as you enjoy both the cabin and this beautiful lake in this peaceful “Up North” setting. We do have outside cameras for security on our garage as well as the back yard on the deck. We like to ensure our guests arrive safely and get into the house. Also no WIFI is available. We like people to disconnect. Cell phones work great. Please contact us with any questions; we are happy to help!

Very convenient because of proximity to town. Plenty of space for our group of 7. Jason was very accommodating with early check in and was always quick to respond to question.

We’ve stayed at several properties on Balsam over the years but this was the best by far. The house and property are beautiful and equipped with everything we needed. One of our favorite things was the boathouse rooftop deck! Jason could not have been nicer and was quick to respond to all my questions.

The listing was accurate, and the photos don't quite do justice to the beautiful setting you will experience. A wonderful cabin to enjoy with family or friends. Your only problem will be choosing where to sit it... there are many fantastic options!

My family and I had a great stay at this property on Balsam Lake. The cabin was very nice and had lots of great spots to enjoy the lake view. We also really enjoyed the game room/garage area. The location was perfect- it has a nice secluded “up north” feel, but also a short drive to lots of different bars/restaurants and shops. Overall, we had a great stay here!

Nearly 2 hours after arriving, I received a message from the owner asking us not to use his “very nice cushion from his high end furniture” on the dock. My 15 year old daughter (clad in a bikini) had pulled it off a chair 10 MINUTES EARLIER, to support her as she leaned back against it on the dock to READ a book. That's just so inappropriate and creepy. 2nd of all, If you don’t want people using your things, you really shouldn’t rent your place out. We were not misusing your property in any way. If there was damage to your cushion (which btw, looked very worn and tired) then that’s what our deposit is for. When I asked him how many cameras he had and where (since at the time, it was not disclosed in the listing), Jason responded with “I only use them when guests are arriving to ensure everything is good. Deck looking at lake and the garage”. I found 4 cameras there covering just about every angle of outdoor space. Jason also came by twice (with less than a 24 hour warning) to mow the lawn. Very hard to enjoy a peaceful lake and privacy with family, while the owner is mowing and blowing around you. We were very uncomfortable here and left early. I would have never rented this place if I had known what I know now. Beware if you rent this place.. kinda creepy to think someone might be watching your every move.

Jason was very accommodating for my family to utilize his cabin for our recent snowmobile trip. We would definitely work with him again.

We brought our family of 4 for a long fall weekend, but this lake home well outfitted for multiple families to enjoy together. The property is stunning, and there are so many amazing spots to relax, dine and play. We loved the garage conversion — playing foosball and shuffleboard with the kids, with a football game on in the background while overlooking the fall colors and the lake— it was perfect! We had the ideal weather for a fire and s’mores and found a local patch to grab and carve pumpkins. The home is also very close to the Main St in Balsam. I loved HopSack, an awesome little coffee shop and store. The home is well outfitted with everything you could need for your home away from home. It is very clean and well organized. We would love to come back in the summer and take advantage of the lake activities too!
