Not for the first time in Mexico, we walked through an unassuming entrance and were completely blown away by what was behind it. Beyond the gate was a huge, sprawling garden hotel, immaculately kept and filled with beautiful trees and tropical plants. It felt like discovering a hidden oasis.
All the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean and perfectly comfortable, with easily the best shower of our entire trip. The pool and surrounding gardens were also beautiful.
We absolutely loved Izamal itself. Great food, wonderfully lively cantinas and some incredibly friendly locals. We had one of our best nights in Mexico at the Copacabana bar.

The gardens were marvelous, breakfast was delicious and the staff was friendly and attentive. It was wonderful to dip in the pool after a hot day out.
The mosquitos were intense.
