Where to stay in the Berkshires? Well, if you don't mind not being in the center of Lenox or Stockbridge, this is the perfect hideaway. Located above a very popular restaurant, the apartment had a lovely mixture of old and new - the building is old - the inside is new. My friend and I wanted to spend a weekend in the Berkshires, and even though we shared a room as freshmen in college, we are now at the age where our own bedrooms and our own bathrooms are a must! This apartment gave us plenty of space. We appreciated the welcome cookies (debated whether to ask for more) and liked the other welcoming touches. A couple of notes: there is some noise from the restaurant (not loud and not late), As mentioned in the description, there are stairs, and there is no outdoor area. AC is great. Plan to go the restaurant at least once. I hope to come back soon! And if I bring my husband, and let's say we have a disagreement over ....well anything....we'll at least have our own bedroom and bathroom to cool down in.

This property was exactly as advertised. Terry, the owner/chef was welcoming and friendly. He was very accommodating in providing us with an early check-in and knowledgable about the area. He provided us with cheese, milk, half and half in the fridge - a plate of welcoming cookies and some fresh fruit. The bedrooms were very equal - full sized (not queen) beds, clean linens, each bedroom had its own bathroom and room for bags etc. This was a nice feature, especially when traveling with friends ... very often one bedroom's amenities surpasses the other, and this was not the case. The restaurant below does a bustling business - but the noise in the apartment is not as loud as you may think. The only real drawbacks were that there was no place outside just to sit - which we would look for in the future. Also, be aware that there are fairly steep stairs leading to the apartment - this was not at all a problem for us - but something to be aware of. I highly recommend this clean, comfortable apartment to others.

Above a wonderful restaurant, this two-bedroom apartment was a perfect base camp for a family wedding in nearby Great Barrington (about a 5 minute drive). The owner and restaurant team members could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The restaurant sounds were not loud and were nonexistent by 930-10pm—after that you could hear a pin drop. We usually returned to the apartment as they were finishing their last seating, and would stop in for a night cap at the cozy bar before going upstairs. (This is an historic mill house, and like many of the inns and hotels in this area, the upper level accommodations are accessible only by stairs.) The beds and linens are very comfortable, especially after a day of sightseeing in the area. The towels are fluffy and dreamy soft. Outlets for hair appliances in bathrooms or near a mirror were the only challenge—as you might expect in such an old building. (It’s quite possible I just wasn’t looking in the right place. I got creative and made do :). For two desert dwellers, this was such a great space to relax and to recharge for each outing and event. Apparently, there is Direct TV but we never turned it on because we were too busy enjoying the selection of CDs, or simply the quiet places to sit and read. Wish we could have stayed longer and we certainly can’t wait to come back. Thanks, Terry and Team!

Charming, comfortable, great location.
Charming, comfortable, great location.
This is a sophisticated apartment in a 17th century old grist mill. The host, Terry embodies hospitality and was a delight to interact with. Everything in this property is thoughtfully curated to create a comfortable and memorable experience. The brook and autumn leaves outside our windows just added to the charm. The restaurant downstairs is a 10! We enjoyed a lovely dinner there, and we will return as often as we can.

The host notified us in advance of information that we needed and greeted us on our arrival and gave a tour of the property, even helped carry in our luggage. There was fresh cookies and fruit for us as well as other supplies, like fresh ground coffee and fresh milk. It was well decorated and clean. We were very happy with the accommodations. Extra benefit. My extended family enjoyed dinner in the Old Mill restaurant on the property on an evening when reservations were impossible due to the holiday. We were treated like honored guests. Definitely recommend this place.
