The Keys Compound, located on the bay with its own beach and deep-water dockage in the Florida Keys city of Tavernier, Florida (MM 92.5), is a unique 2.5 acre vacation rental property for families or larger groups looking for a private oasis. From the moment you enter the gates and lush tropical landscape of The Keys Compound you will not want to leave. Please watch our video tour of the property by clicking through the photos. The Keys Compound has three 2 bedroom cottages and one 5 bedroom house which are immaculately maintained and offer the classic “keys feeling” of simplicity while providing a five-star level of comfort that makes the experience at The Keys Compound authentic, super relaxing, private and fun. New swimming pools at the Ellis House and Cottages completed January 1, 2024. You have the option to rent the entire property. THE LISTING YOU ARE REVIEWING NOW IS FOR THE FIVE BEDROOM ELLIS HOUSE ONLY but you can also rent the Three Cottages as well and have the entire property for just your group. The cost is almost double for the entire property. The beach, dock, pickleball courts and soccer areas are shared similar to a hotel. The cottages has a pool for Cottages guest only and The Ellis House has a pool for Ellis guest only. Purchased in 2020 by a family that owns several high-end vacation rental properties, The Keys Compound was completely renovated with new furniture, beds, roofs, impact windows, painting, and landscaping.
The Keys Compound property is 2.5 acres with155 feet of beach front which can sleep up to 34 guests in four different homes totaling 11 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, 4 full kitchens each with outdoor Weber BBQ grills and deep-water dockage for boats up to 45 feet. Our goal is to create a private experience for our guests, so we offer the following three rental options (please see our description of each cottage, photos and video):
THE RATES AND AVAILABILITY ON THIS LISTING ARE FOR PACKAGE 1 DESCRIBED BELOW WHICH IS THE RENTAL OF THE ELLIS HOUSE ONLY. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN OPTION 2 WHICH IS THE RENTAL OF THE THREE COTTAGES OR OPTION 3 DESCRIBED BELOW WHICH IS ALL FOUR HOMES. The price of Option 3 is usually double the price of Option 1. The common areas of the the property such as the beach and the dock are shared by all guests.
Package 1: Rent the new ELLIS House which has five bedrooms / 5.5 bathrooms and sleeps up to 16 guests with double occupancy in all beds queen size or larger (10) and single occupancy in the three bunk beds (6). Nightly rates listed here are for the Ellis House.
Package 2: Rent the 3 cottages named “BEACH”, “TIKI PALM”, and “ISLAND BREEZE”. These 3 cottages have a total of six bedrooms six baths and sleep up to 20 guests with double occupancy in each bed. We only rent all three of these cottages together. Please see our VRBO listing for the three cottages to check availability or send us a message with any questions. Option 2 is the same price as Option 1.
Package 3: Rent all four homes described in Option 1 & 2 which provides exclusivity of the entire property.

“Tiki Palm Cottage”: Two Bedroom/ Two Bath (Approximately 1,200 sq feet) that sleeps up to 6 guests:

The Keys Compound is located in the northern section of the Florida Keys between Key Largo and Islamorada (69 miles from Miami Airport), a 5 minute boat ride to Tavernier creek for ocean access, kayaks and paddle boards available at our beach, snorkel and swim from our beach (lots of fish under our dock), kayak launch ramp on property (jet skiing or water skiing in the gigantic and usually calm bay water behind the property is super fun), best sunset in Florida Keys, two fire pits, located close to the best restaurants in Key largo and Islamorada, and great location to host weddings, corporate retreats or other private events. We have recommendations for restaurant reservations, boat rentals, fishing or snorkeling trips, and other local excursions. (There is an additional event fee depending on the size and type of event. We look forward to discussing your event.)

We stayed in Ellis house (12 people total) - 8 adults and 4 little children (under 5 yrs) and had a great time. What a property! For sure, it really felt like a resort with so many things for the adults and kids to do. Swimming, mini golf, soccer, paddle board, firepit. We rented a boat for 3 days and docked at the property. Response from host was great - this is a big property so we simply alerted her when needed. We did have an issue that required a service call and so her responsiveness in handling this is important.In terms of safety around the pool, the doors have a secondary safety latch for evenings (at top and bottom) and we brought a kids safety latch for the door knob which was very important for the day time. We brought our own life jackets and swim gear for the kids - there is some down by the kayaks, but we didn't need them.There is so much outside seating for both shade lovers and sun seekers. Kitchen was stocked with basic spices - fridge was empty and clean. We did buy ice every day - it just couldn't keep up with as much as we needed.We really enjoyed the screened in porch for night time meals. It houses a table big enough for everyone and kid friendly cleanup.

This property exceeds all expectations and pictures on the listing. BOOK IT NOW if you are on the fence!! We (10 of us) stayed in the LARGE Ellis House. The house, the views and the property are gorgeous. Be sure to make dinner reservations AFTER sunset if you aren’t eating at the house. It is spectacular. Tavernier is a 10 minute drive to Key Largo or Islamorada. Such a fantastic location in the upper keys. Kelly is on top of any and all questions or concerns and takes care of anything property related asap. She is a lovely person to communicate with and has excellent follow up and follow through. Breakfast on the large lanai every morning was a fantastic way to start the day with fresh air and views. Somehow between scuba diving, spearfishing, party boating, and dining out, we found time to use the pickle ball courts, pool, jacuzzi, fire pit and tiki hut. This was our first time in the keys. We get it, we love it, take our money! Can’t wait to come back. Thank you for your amazing property.

Easy check-in, fantastic property, unbelievably clean, great hosts. From the minute we checked-in, we knew we had picked the right place. Half of my party arrived by boat, the other half by car. House is big and beautiful and CLEAN. Pools were immaculate. A/C was ice cold. Beds were comfy. Host (Kelly) was fantastic in getting back to us with answers to our questions. WE WILL BE BACK !!!

An amazing property. An exceptional host. So many great things to say! Plenty of room in a beautiful well maintained house. The pool right outside the back door was our happy place. Many TVs, a cool video arcade game, outstanding mattresses (which was a huge plus), and the multiple refrigerator space was perfect. The kitchen layout was great! Ate inside at the large table and at the long table on the screened in porch and even on the patio tables by the pool. So many amenities from a Keurig coffee maker to wine cooler to a paddle board to kayaks to fishing gear. Plus, wonderful pickle ball courts and equipment!Fire pit down by the sunset. Wifi everywhere (even in the beach). Restaurants, excursions, and so many things nearby. But we hardly left the great property because that was so fun. We WILL stay there again. The best VRBO I have ever rented! We even met Kelly, the host, and her wonderful family. Exceptional people! Thank you for helping us create such a treasured family memory.
