Once upon a time, it looked like this house was loved. Since then, it has fallen into disrepair. From a hole in the floor--covered up with a 2"x6" board--to majorly uneven deck and pool surfaces, splintering deck wood and loose bunk bed railings, there are liability lawsuits waiting to happen at Stork II. The kitchen counters were dirty and cabinets full of a plethora of dishes--some dirty, some perhaps not dirty? We felt we had to wash them before using to be certain. There was a bed full of pet hair, broken closets stuffed with ripped and stained comforters and used sheets, broken screen doors, black mold under a windowsill with the molding piece laid underneath it, moldy showers, old food under sofas, burned-out stairwell lights, and extremely faded and stained furniture and carpeting. The pool lining is coming off in multiple places, revealing sharp triangle "shark teeth" along the edges of seating areas and scraping multiple people. The pool edges and deck are a trip-and-fall nightmare waiting to happen. One of our party gashed his toe on an upraised brick beside the pool (2"+ above the deck), then sat on a chaise lounge to scope out the damage, only to fall onto the deck because the lounge was broken. One of the hot tubs was filled with algae when we arrived, rendering it unusable until the pool service came on Wednesday. The baby pool was not filtering any water and was full of sand. The pool guys came to fix the pools, got the "green" hot tub working and backwashed the baby pool, but disappeared w/o cleaning it. They never came back. The washer only ran hot water. An air filter in the basement was absolutely disgusting and covered with dust. We had to call for maintenance multiple times. While the maintenance guy was nice, it took 1-2 days for him to come to fix the issues. Housekeeping never came. The decks were warped and caused multiple splinters in kids and adults alike. Landscaping looks like it hasn't been touched all year. The grass, weeds, trees and bushes are overgrown and an eyesore at least, a haven to snakes and other wildlife at worst. A large tree in the front yard blocks the view of the sunset from the splintered, wrap-around decks. For a house that bills itself as a rental for kids and families, it is dangerous, unclean and a major disappointment. So much time was spent handling issues, it wasn't a much of a vacation.
