The owner sent a message a few days before that they could not accommodate us. Did not cancel, explain or refund, just a message. I had booked and paid 7.5 months prior and everything else was booked in the area. I was on the phone with Vrbo for over 2 hours to get a hotel for 1 of the nights and was stuck again the next morning with a dog and family! It may be a primary residence or was rented for more on another site. Stressful and disrupted our entire visit.

I arrived, after driving from Freeport, ME in the driving rain! Thank goodness my grandson, daughter in law and dog decided, due to weather, to drive to Keene very early the next day. I follow, Melanie, the owner’s instructions to enter property. 2 very large , protective dogs come barking/ bounding at the door. A man comes up, I say I’m Vrbo guest for next 2 weeks. He gets his wife, she tells me Melanie!!!, has rented it to them, long term as of a month ago. Melanie never bothered to cancel with VRBO or me. I’m from out of town, never been to NH, my daughter in law had a certificate course she had to take. I’m overwhelmed, the people, Melanie, rented too ( I’m a very non threatening Gramma) told me I needed to leave the property ( even though I showed them my reservation), when I didn’t move quickly enough, her husband came out and honked the horn. By this point, we’d call Melanie, and no surprise, she didn’t answer her phone, I drove to some parking lot and called VRBO. After getting disconnected several times, I spoke with Diego and the Yvonne. They were wonderful, which was great after being treated so rudely by the long term renters, who’d signed up long after I’d signed up and paid. Melanie is TOTALLY untrustworthy, I would strongly recommend not renting from her, and to the long term renters, I’d be wary, Melanie doesn’t seem to think contracts, agreements, etc, include her! Fortunately, I got rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott downtown, and they were very pleasant!

House was perfect for us for a New Year’s getaway. Comfortable house quaintly decorated with everything we needed and the fenced in yard for the dog is a big plus! Located close to Main Street, walking/bike trails and good restaurants and shops. Just a few miles outside Keene you can enjoy the mountains and hiking.

We contacted the owner the afternoon before our reservation to see if we could check in that evening (a day early). She was very nice and allowed us to do it. We truly appreciated her willingness to help us out!! We also forgot a couple of things at the house and she was sweet enough to send them to me.

This house was a great location to everything. Owner was awesome! She offered great ideas of what to do in the area. Extremely responsive if there are any issues with the house. Yard was fenced-perfect for any sized dog. Neighborhood was quiet. The house is older as is the area, a little rustic vibe- very warm and inviting. Kitchen has what you need for pots, pans, bakeware and the basic pantry items. Then there is the extremely high tech shower....once you figure it out, it is absolutely amazing! Would definitely stay again.
