I genuinely don’t know where to start with how wonderful our stay was. Nektaria is, without question, the best host we have ever had.
From the moment we arrived, the villa felt like a home away from home. We arrived in the afternoon to find the most delicious traditional Greek food waiting for us and our children, along with snacks and plenty of water. It was such a thoughtful welcome and exactly what we needed after travelling.
Nektaria really has thought of everything. There were pool towels as well as bath towels, plenty of toiletries, a hairdryer and even hair straighteners. For the children, there were loads of pool inflatables, snorkels and games — all those little things that make travelling with young children so much easier and more enjoyable.
We travelled as four families and stayed across the four-bedroom villa with the private pool and the two-bedroom villa with the shared pool. The private pool isn’t overlooked at all, so it felt incredibly peaceful and secluded , and was absolutely perfect for young children desperate to jump in the pool at 8am!
The location is just beautiful. The little village is spectacular, with outstanding views and some of the friendliest people we have ever met. It feels wonderfully peaceful and authentically Cretan, while still being so close to the beaches and everything you need.
The local beaches are gorgeous and incredibly easy to reach. Kalyves is around a 7-minute drive away, and at many places the sunbeds are free for the day as long as you order drinks from the associated bar or restaurant. Almyrida is a little busier, but still never felt overcrowded, and the most we paid was €6 per sunbed for the entire day.
The food was another highlight. Every restaurant we visited was fantastic and so reasonably priced. We were a group of 10, eating and drinking incredibly well (including alcohol) and we never spent more than around €160 for the whole group.
But what made the holiday truly exceptional was Nektaria.

Casa bellissima in un village molto carino e rilassante. L host ci ha coccolato appena arrivati ci ha fatto trovare specialità greche buonissime acqua vino colazione…ci ha dato ottimi suggerimenti

Domek ma wszystko czego potrzeba na dwutygodniowy pobyt dla całej rodziny. Są dwie sypialnie, gdzie jedna ma antresolę na poddaszu, w sam raz dla dzieci. Obie mają klimatyzacje i małe łazienki. Do jednej jest również taras. Na parterze jest w pełni wyposażona kuchnia, toaleta i część dzienna ze stołem, jednak to stół przed wejściem robi całą robotę, gdzie można zjeść posiłek na świeżym powietrzu przy dźwięku cykad. Na dole jest też klimatyzacja. W kuchni jest express na kawe przelewowy i na kapsułki, tostery, podstawowe przyprawy, kawa. Jest również duża piwnica, z dodatkową łazienką, gdzie znajduje się pralka, deska do prasowania i dodatkowa chłodna przestrzeń na gorące dni. W piwnicy znajdziemy również odkurzacz, parasole plażowe, maski do pływania ect. Na zewnątrz teren jest codziennie sprzątany. Basen należy do wszystkich czterech domków, które znajdują się dookoła, ale gdy my tam byliśmy to nie było prawie gości którzy również używaliby basenu. Jest parking na auta mieszkańców. Miejscowość jest spokojna i znajdują się w niej co najmniej dwie restauracje serwujące pyszne regionalne jedzenie. 8 minut samochodem jest plaża a w okolicach trasa trekkingowa. Na dzień dobry zostaliśmy przywitani przez właścicielkę pyszną kolacją czekającą na nas w piekarniku oraz koszem przekąsek. Przez nasz cały pobyt byliśmy w kontakcie z Nektaria, która pomagała nam gdy była taka potrzeba i udzielała informacji. Zostaliśmy też miło zaskoczeni jej wizytą przed odjazdem.
