Paradise Found – Family Friendly Beachfront Condo With all the Amenities of Home
About this condo rental
Situated in Makaha, this attractive condo for $225 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Vacation of a lifetime awaits you at this hidden gem called Papaoneone Beach (or Turtle Beach) in Makaha, often called Oahu’s best kept secret beach. On the Leeward (West) side of Oahu, the most beautiful sunsets await you, each unique and mesmerizing. We may be biased, but it is truly the most beautiful beach on the island. This unique condominium building is literally built right on the beach. Imagine waking up and enjoying a cup of coffee on your lanai with sounds of the waves crashing on the beach below you. You may even see a turtle enjoying the early morning calm right below you, or a whale off in the distance. Crystal clear blue water, a white sandy secluded beach and palm trees welcome you. Watch the spectacular sunset each evening from your lanai. Gentle trade winds sway the palm trees as you set off to explore this tranquil beach. Swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, wave riding, building sandcastles, and long walks on the beach all await you steps from the condo. Making memories is what this beachfront unit is all about. An easy 40-minute drive from Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, the unit is located away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Plenty of nearby hiking trails including Mauna Lahilahi bordering the property and Ka’ena Point State Park just a few miles up the highway. Convenient drive to the North Shore, Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, Diamondhead, Punchbowl Crater, Honolulu Zoo, golf courses, deep sea fishing and everything else the island has to offer. Whatever your desire is on your vacation, you can accomplish them all from this location. Our 1 bedroom/1 bath unit is on an upper floor of a 16-floor building, so rest assured that the views are spectacular. The property is gated with 24-hour security including 2 elevators. Each unit comes with a parking spot (free). Enjoy our amenities such as a saltwater seaside pool, hot tub, recreation room, ping pong table, community BBQ gas grills, tennis/pickleball courts (with no resort fee). Recently updated unit with granite counters, stainless steel appliances, sleek tiled floors throughout and tons of custom soft-close storage cabinets. With a Queen bed, Queen-sized sofa sleeper, and Twin pillow rest airbed mattress, 4 people can sleep comfortably here. The unit comes with free Internet/WiFi/Cable (large wall-mounted smart TVs in living room and bedroom). Other in-unit amenities include: Large Front-Load Washer/Dryer, tub/shower combo, AC (but you will not need it due to the trade winds blowing through the unit), all linens, towels, hair dryer, binoculars, beach gear (towels, snorkel gear, chairs, umbrella, cooler, sandcastle building tools). This property is NON-SMOKING (violators will be fined $250 by building management) and pet free. Our kitchen is fully stocked with everything that you will need to make homecooked meals (pots/pans, dishes, utensils, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, blender). Restaurants, Grocery and shopping nearby in Waianae and Kapolei. In compliance with new laws this unit is required to advertise and rent for a minimum of 90 days. We enjoyed our stay. Very clean and comfortable. We watched whales off the lanai!

We enjoyed the views and the unit was as listed. Parking lot was secure and the building had security and looked in good maintenence shape. Unit was adequate and as expected. Nice beach but lots of homeless

We couldn't have been happier with our stay. The space is perfect for our family, and the beach was gorgeous. Everyone has been so nice here too, and Renee has been great to work with. 10/10

Loved the view and location, out of the hustle bustle. The place had everything we needed. Perfect!

This place is right on the beach. Away from tourist crowds. Only 30 min drive from big shopping centers. Unit is nice. Hotel has its own secured parking. Nice common area, hot tub, pool. Located in little locals town, tons of tents on the nearby beaches.

View from the 12th floor is nothing short of SPECTACULAR! Beautiful lil apartment. We'd rather stay here than in Waikiki, to be honest. Great host, great apartment, great amenities. HIGHLEY recommended & would LOVE to stay here again. Great base for exploring the island. Wish we could've taken that view with us back home!

This place is absolutely amazing. The view is breathtaking. The sunsets were so beautiful, and the beach was quiet and not crowded, which is exactly what we were looking for on this vacation. The condo is so cute and feels like home. The pictures posted on this listing do not do enough justice for this property. Renee was very responsive and pleasant. I cannot imagine that I will stay anywhere else when I return to Hawaii. This place is definitely a 10!

Overall impression is of staying on a third world country island as a very well-off person. Which I've done, having been stationed overseas Carribean, Central America and Pacific. The Apartment is small but very well appointed. the sound of the surf was wonderful all day and night, and constant wind refreshing. The owners were very nice, honest, accommodating, etc. I've stayed in Time Shares in Park City, but this is very, very nice. Materiel condition outstanding, appointments in good nick. Mostly like new. There only two of these buildings, both together facing the west. The view from the 12th floor balcony was grand. Parking was a minor struggle; is very cramped with small, narrow slots, rows close together. Security seemed okay with 24/7 guard and gated. The beach side was beautiful, yet open on each end. The south side of the point had 5 unhoused encampments, although the inhabitants didn't seem to bother anyone on the beach. No panhandling at least. If you are using this as a base for touring the rest of the island, expect to spend about 3.5 hours driving every day. Crave less touristy isolation? This is your place, on the lower socio-economic side of the island in Makaha. One warning, while materiel condition is outstanding, there may be pest of the six-legged variety in the kitchen. Remember though, the managers are in a never-ending struggle to keep them at bay. Just keep your foodstuffs in the fridge and clean up behind yourself.

Came back after 20 years and was as Beautiful as we remembered it.

About the condo itself --- Really nice, clean, comfortable, up to date unit, with all the amenities. The entire property is very well maintained, and very secure. The view is spectacular, and the beach is to die for. About a half mile long, most of the time the beach is either deserted or with a few people. The water is great for swimming and snorkeling, and we enjoyed turtle spotting on our daily swims.
The area around the property is a mixed bag. This is the dry side of the island, so don't expect the lush, tropical environment associated with Hawaii. I appreciated that this was definitely more of a locals part of the island, rather than geared towards tourists. That said, it can also feel rather sketchy. There are a lot of homeless around - they never created any problems for us, but again, not what one thinks of when they think about a vacation in Hawaii.
But I went running - 4-5 miles - every day, and felt totally safe running in the neighborhoods north of the property.
I think this is a great deal all in all. We traveled to the North Shore, and to the southeast for things like snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking and scuba diving. While those areas were really beautiful, I think a unit of this quality, right on the water, with this view, would have cost 2-3 as much (at least) elsewhere on the island. I am very happy with our decision to stay here, and would definitely return.

We stayed 5 nights and the views did not disappoint. Great communication with host and great accommodations!

The condo was perfect in every way! Loved having the beach all to ourselves and traveling around the island by car was easy from this location.

This place is amazing! We loved sitting outside on the lanai just watching the ocean. The sunsets are spectacular! The condo was very comfortable and we felt so relaxed. This place is a perfect 10!!!

The property was clean and well taken care of. The views of the ocean were great. The local neighborhood is declining with a large homeless population camped out on the beach next to the condo. Security to the building was good but I wouldn't wander off too far. The local police were busy throughout every night we were their.

Very nice condo. It had everything we needed

This place is probably the nicest I’ve stayed at over the years at the Hawaiian Princess. Going into it I had concerns about the impact of the homeless mentioned in reviews, but really, we never saw them out front on the beach. A couple of tents are pitched on the rock area to the left as you face the ocean but none of these folks ever were seen interacting with guests or being a problem in any way. We would love to go back! Beautiful place, attentive host.

Was Wonderful!! BEAUTIFUL BEACH ans awesome view of the ocean. I have no complaints.

Very nice and clean unit with all the amenities (cookware, towels, beach gear...) Incredible views on the private beach from the lanai to watch the sunset on the ocean! A little far from the attractions but perfect spot to relax.

It's not a surprise the "Hawaii Revealed" travel guides rate the Hawaiin Princess a hidden gem. The facility fit what we were looking for - clean, comfortable, right amenities (grills, pool,/hot tub, right on a gorgeous uncrowded beach, to watch the sunset, we used the lanai extensively
The neighborhood looks intimidating, but was fine. Gated parking and grounds were fine.

Condo is perfect, perfect views, everything you need is provided. Watched whales and turtles from the balcony.

There is nothing that I could say that would be anything bad about this location. What had been listed as shown in the pictures for this property had no match on the actual experience. I could literally say that it felt like home for my small family and I. It was very comfortable and open to the fresh air and sounds from the beach that was outside of the balcony doors. The kitchen provided every accessory that you would need to get the job of a home cooking done. All of the beach accessories that you needed were all provided as well! The location was beautiful in every direction that you went in. All in all. I loved being able to have great communication with the property owner Renee. She was nothing short of helpful with our stay. We appreciated being able to find this location and experience it for all it was=). Granted we had to come back home to 3 and a half feet of snow... lol
Thank you again! I hope to be able to get this location again in the near future!

Everything was perfect inside this rental. It was clean, comfortable, and just the right size for my boyfriend and I. It’s a bit far from everything so make sure you want a bit of seclusion. The beach right outside of the building is beautiful and the sunsets are magical! Pokai Bay has a couple of good restaurants if you’re looking to not cook and enjoy the local cuisine. Rene, the host, is beyond helpful and she made everything incredibly easy.

Beautiful location and a perfectly equipped apartment, very clean and lovingly furnished! Highly recommended and we will be back, thank you so much for having us!

This condo was perfect for 2 people. We both had our own space without being crowded. Everything we needed for cooking was available but could have used a couple of wine glasses for those beautiful sunsets! The view was stunning!! We saw turtles swimming by and dolphins in the distance. I would stay here again without hesitation. Thank you Renee for sharing your property with us.

I highly recommend this property.

Gorgeous oceanfront property. The condo is recently remodeled and is beautiful inside. Very comfortable with a beautiful view of the ocean. Located on the west side of the island which has many homeless and few options to eat close by. We did eat multiple days at 604 Beach House which we highly recommend the food, view of ocean and relaxing atmosphere. We had a wonderful visit and will return again.

We loved the interior of the condo it's been really nicely updated. The owner is super responsive and allowed us to check in a little early we got there on a really rainy day. There was a new washer and dryer including soap to use. The kitchen was really nice with all the pots and pans and dishes you would need. Several sets of nice towels for both the bathroom and the beach, as well as beach toys, chairs, boogie boards etc. Everythingbin really good condition.
Our biggest issue was the location itself. As other reviews have mentioned there are a LOT of homeless camps all around the condo, while I realize this is not the owners issue and a problem unfortunately everywhere now, it's not where I want to vacation at $300 a night by the time you factor in all the fees. On top of that the area in general is low income and almost no restaurants other than fast food. So our first night we were kept awake past 2am by loud music nearby. It was a Saturday and that was the only night we heard it. But on top of that we were also swarmed by 50-60 termites when we turned on the stove after the sun had gone down. The owner told us they are common in Hawaii but I've never encountered any termites in other locations in my 30+ years of visiting various Hawaii islands at least once a year.
The condo is exactly as pictured and after explaining all of our issues the first night the owner did give us some money towards dinner and recommended a nice small restaurant which was really good. But I unfortunately wouldn't recommend to any of my friends to stay in this area again.

Great ocean views. Condo is perfect and updated. The area is away from restaurants but is quite which is what we were looking for. The area has some old buildings with newer. There are a lot of homeless people living on many beaches and this isn’t just Oahu but we stayed at Maui too and the same thing. It’s sad to see how some are living : mental illness, drugs and alcohol I’m sure are the main issues.

Renee was wonderful and polite. The rooms are gorgeous. Beautiful decor, plush towels, shiny countertops, and smooth, tiled flooring. The view is to die for. It was so nice to have private access right to the beach. The waters were calm in the morning, you could snorkel right there, but the waves were big in the evening. There are some homeless camps nearby, but that's Oahu's concern and not Renee's. Just be aware that you'll see a lot of them driving to and from the property. We did see sea turtles in the bay, though! Just as Renee said! If you watch in the morning, there were about 5 or 6 around 8-9am. It was a wonderful place to stay.

Unit was just as pictured and had everything we need. Views are spectacular and property is right on the beach with plenty of activities to do nearby. There are plenty of local restaurants around. Only con is that it’s about an hour to go anywhere outside Waianae. Aside from that we love the property and plan to book again if available for our next vacation.

We really enjoyed our stay in this well equipped and beautifully updated condo. The ocean front view was the best! Communication with property manager was excellent. Thanks!

This unit is updated and very clean. The condo sits right above the sand and overlooks the ocean with 180 degree views. You have a private beach right there. The only thing that needs help is the town of Makaha. It is a ghetto. Not many places to eat (other than fast food) and it seems a little sketch. However, the unit itself, building, beach, condo grounds, ect... are awesome.

My husband and I enjoyed staying at this property on Oahu’s west coast. Perfect for two people. The unit has a full size fridge, oven, cooktop and microwave, along with everything else you’d need for cooking and serving, like dishes, glasses, silverware, bowls, pots/pans, serving/cooking utensils, toaster, coffee maker, etc. Community BBQ grills also available. Nearby grocery store, drugstore, and local restaurants, our favorites being The Beach House at 604 and Coquito’s. Facing west, you are treated to the beauty of a daily sunset, viewed from your private balcony/lanai where you’ll find a table and four chairs, along with a cozy reading/coffee nook. You are literally just steps away from the beach, which is off the beaten path and was never crowded. The host provides a variety of beach amenities, including snorkel gear, boogie boards, and beach chairs and towels. There’s gated parking with plenty of spaces, and a security guard onsite who helps you get set up once you arrive. Secured access to elevators and beach. Our host was very responsive, answering all our questions and offering helpful suggestions. One thing to keep in mind is that it’s about an hour’s travel time from the property to attractions on other parts of the island, so plan accordingly.

Great Sunset View
Renee is an excellent and attentive host. The place is well stocked with kitchen equipment and ocean gear. The unit faces the ocean so we enjoyed the beautiful sunset whenever we could. We worked remotely from this place and my partner worked on the porch the whole time, she seemed to love it.
Makaha itself is a bit far from a lot of the the other destinations so make sure to plan your days well to account for the driving.
