About this house rental
Situated in Rancho Penasquitos, this charming house for $600 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. This two story home boasts a beautiful backyard scenery overlooking mountains and a breath-taking sunset. It includes a private pool, hot tub, outdoor grill, and plenty of space to enjoy a true vacation. It is a 3 bedroom & 2.5 bath fully-equipped home with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bath towels, stocked kitchen, board games, pool toy inflator and little odds-and-ends you may not have thought of. Although we are certain everyone would find value from our home, this home is great for families who are seeking a relaxing summer vacation from work and school. You’ll also find this as a spectacular place to stay during things such as basketball tournaments, graduations, celebrations, and fun! We spent a week here while on vacation with the family. The house was clean and the kids were in the pool every day. We also used the bbq a couples of times - it was also clean and functioned well. View was beautiful and it was very close to the freeways. If I had advice for future guests it would be to bring extra pillows and blankets because there’s not extra.

We loved this rental. We spent our mornings at the beach and afternoons enjoying the pool and hot tub. It was perfect for our family of 5. Our two younger children liked the bunk room and our teenager appreciated having his own room. We overlooked the fact that access to a washer and dryer is not included. Despite this we thoroughly enjoyed this rental.

Property was everything described. Pool with a view and location were my deciding factors for this property. We were able to hop over to all the fun stuff in San Diego as well as it being just a little over an hour from Disneyland. The property manager Joseph was very easy to get in touch with and communicate with over a couple of minor hiccups that were quickly resolved.

We traveled with our newborn and two friends over a long weekend, and this home was even better for us than we anticipated.
The spa and pool were lovely, the home was perfectly clean, and there was more than enough space for our two small families to spread out and hang out.
The hosts were personable, very responsive, and overall a joy to work with. The check in and check out processes were as easy as it gets.

Our family visited San Diego to attend a wedding. We had a multi-generational group and the house was perfect! Very easy access to freeways and you can be on the beach in 15 minutes. The house was clean, well-equipped and had all the amenities we could want. The backyard was gorgeous - we enjoyed the pool and hot tub every evening. The owners were incredibly helpful leading up to the trip and followed up once we left to make sure everything went well. If you are looking for a family home for your next stay or retreat I would definitely recommend this rental.

The house is amazing. It is beautiful and very comfortable. The host Christina is very responsive and nice. She is amazing at making sure our stay is what we expect. I would recommend this stay to anyone.

We booked this property for a work retreat. Our executive team spent the weak team building. The house was spacious and clean. It had all the amenities we needed. The pool and spa were great and the view was a nice bonus. I would recommend staying here. We will be back!

For the rental price of this home, so many things were unaccommodating or outdated & even dangerous to recommend it to anyone.
Check in process was ok, after about 4/5 tries…locking the door was also difficult, where at one point it didn’t lock at all and had to call someone to lock it as we’d headed out for the day with our belongings inside at risk.
A list:
Shower head in master bath was about 5ft high and oddly large and very awkward.
-Towels, linens & sleep pillows (and flattened) were at a bare minimum:
- No bath mat or rug
-One bath towel per adult in the master along with a single hand towel and single washcloth.
-Missing towel rack in the bathroom.
-Used the provided air mattress but no pillow or sheets were available, had to call.
-Master BR drapes did not keep out light AT ALL, didnt cover the entirety of glass.
-broken kitchen utensils
- an inexpensive flimsy mini 5-cup coffee maker
-no kitchen towels, placemats, tablecloth (obviously they’re not into doing much laundry after guests leave, supported by the Listing Note to bring your own beach/pool towels)
-Grill wasn't fully clean, had food on it.
-Patio chairs rusting out; one of the children stepped on a piece of rusted metal from the frame of the old chair! Luckily it came out.
-Had to sweep around pool upon arrival, as there were stones and rough pebbles surrounding
-neighbors yelling at kids at 5pm to “shut up”
-Cobwebs, no cleaning products/kitchen towels.

Overall a very nice stay! Great for the kiddos; the weather was cold so the pool was pretty cold for the kiddos but would definitely stay again and try to come back when the weather is better. The location was nice about 30 minutes from the places we wanted to go! We will definitely come back! Also, great communication with the homeowners!

We came to town for our son's graduation and some of our family joined us at the house for an afternoon pool party. The house is terrific, it had everything we needed. Pool and hot tub were definitely a hit. Highly recommend this place!

We were all blown away with the beauty this property holds in a quiet, friendly neighborhood. Close enough to Uber to down town San Diego, and the property is close to restaurants and all other amenities you could want/ need. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would recommend this property to anyone!

My family and I loved staying here! We had planned a few things to do in San Diego and we didn’t do a lot because my daughter and I LOVED the pool! And we all enjoyed the jacuzzi. It was worth paying for the pool to be heated. The mornings outside with my coffee was relaxing.
The manager was quick to respond to any questions I had.

We loved it. Pool is great. The place is exceptionally clean and well located between the Safari Park and other attractions down in San Diego. Only negative is the pool/hot tub fees and no laundry service - so heads up on that. That said, would definitely stay there again.

We stayed in the house for two weeks. The location was great, the house and furnishings were charming and the pool/hot tub got used every day. The home and yard were very private, the property manager was very responsive and should we return to the area we would definitely stay here again.

Based on other reviews, this seemed like a great option for my friends and I to meet up with our young kids in San Diego. Unfortunately, we had a very challenging start to our trip and a few BIG concerns.
I was not sent the code to access the house ahead of time. I thought, "well, maybe the host doesn't send it until the day of." So I waited. When I didn't hear anything, I messaged first thing in the morning before leaving on our flight. Our itinerary had us arriving at the property around 9pm. I never heard anything all day. I thought, "surely, I'll hear something by the time my flight lands." Nothing.
I took my chances and just drove from the airport to the property, where I discovered an empty house with no lights on. It was totally dark. I was solo with my two young very overtired kids with me. If you have kids, you know that this is a really stressful situation to be in. The house did have a video doorbell so I rang it hoping to get in touch with the host that way, but unfortunately they didn't respond there either.
At this point I was a thousand miles from home, late at night, with nowhere to stay. I called VRBO customer service and after about an hour of chasing my kids in the dark on a strange neighborhood street, they managed to get in touch with the host, who provided a code to get into the house. After getting settled in I messaged the host to express my disappointment with the situation, and they responded by claiming that they had provided an entry code as soon as they were contacted. Not only is that untrue, but the host should be proactive in providing access information - I shouldn't have to spend a bunch of time tracking them down just to figure out how to get into the property.
The check in process was a giant mess. Then we got in the house. The listing says it sleeps 8. We had 2 adults and 4 kids and it barely worked. They have air mattresses but no extra blankets or linens. Some of the blankets on the beds were more throw sized and didn't work for 2 people, comfortably.
The other MAJOR concern is that the sliding doors open up straight to the un-fenced pool. There are no child safe locks or handles up high to prevent little kids from just opening the door and having access to the pool. It was very scary to sleep in there with a 3 year old, knowing he could wake up without me knowing and get out to the pool. I had to barricade the doors and make makeshift "alarms" so I would hear him if he did decide to explore.
I would not recommend this house to anyone without some major changes and I will definitely not be staying here again.

Overall our stay was very positive. Loved the neighborhood. Found people to be very friendly. House was comfortable with some nice upgrades particularly in the kitchen. The listing says NO washer/dryer, but I didn't read it carefully when booking and was surprised to not have laundry access on site. Additionally there was no garage parking so cars had to sit outside. But otherwise, would stay here again if the price was right.

The house was very organized and beautifully decorated in a quiet and safe neighborhood. The location was fantastic. Joe and Christina were very responsive and accommodating. Our family had a great vacation! Thank you Joe and Christina!
