Byaku was simply stunning, our room was immaculate with every little details so considered and deliberate. Our private garden was so relaxing. The staff were all so helpful, kind and attended to our every need. Dinner was sensational in the hotel dining room and breakfast was so generous.
The only thing that could have made it better was if the public onsen had an outdoor bath too. But this is really a tiny tiny detail.

Everything
Bath did not fill or work. Unfortunately cleaner emptied and did refill. We asked twice and still no luck.

What an incredible stay!
The properties are absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, the buildings are preserved beautifully and interior is designed to fit special features of each one of them. The rooms are also incredibly comfortable, ours included hot bath made of of wood and there was possibility to add in herbs which we liked very much. The dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious and were showing local nagano produce and what farms they reviewed them from. The stuff were very professional and friendly, they create very relaxing and welcoming athmosohere.

Main building is a lovely historic building that has been beautifully renovated. The location in the middle of town is great. Very special to take a walk after dinner in town with no one around. Ofuro was well designed for privacy and a little greenery. Great dinner.
I did not realize they had made an annex in recent years and was booked into one of those rooms. Deeply disappointed as it was a brand new build and felt very generic. Another member of the group with in the 2-story store house in the annex which was beautiful but very hot. Also, annex rooms seem to have 2 semi-double beds which is not nice for couples. In sum: be sure you book in the original building and not the new annex. The annex is not worth the investment in my opinion. The main building is much nicer and worth the investment.
