About this house rental
Timberhouse Skye is an architect designed property with beautiful views across Loch Dunvegan and close to the famous 3 chimneys restaurant and nearby Neist point. 10 minutes drive to Dunvegan and Castle for local amenities - restaurants and onwards to the Coral beach. Immerse yourself in nature with seal spotting in the loch and if you're lucky a sea otter. Behind the house is Macleod's table mountain where the legend goes that a clan chief threw a dinner party at the top for guests. Every window in the house has a view to these stunning surroundings.
There is a wood burning stove for cosy evenings with complementary bag of logs and kindling.
The property itself was designed by Dualchas architects who are a recognised award winning practice featured in the Victoria and Albert Museum in Dundee.
The house is angled towards the views to give maximum effect from the landscape. The windows all have views and the house allows for you to feel immersed in the surroundings which is very relaxing. The night skies when clear are incredible as well as sunrises and sunsets.
Downstairs is open plan kitchen through to dining and living area. There is a tv with Freeview. Internet service is now using a satellite service at 100mbps. There is a lot of storage for clothing etc upstairs and downstairs there are shelves where you are able to store goods. There is a dishwasher, induction hob and electric oven. In the utility section there is a washing machine.
The upstairs bathroom has a bath and the downstairs bathroom is a wet room. Hot water is supplied by an emersion tank which switches on with the heating. Therefore sometimes it may be necessary to wait for the water to re heat if there have been long showers taken.

Everything in the listing is exact with just the sheep missing. They are so cute and everywhere on the outside deck and on the drive and on the path to the car along with their poo. It is entertaining and quaint. My own perceptions didn't realize the road in front of the property was a busy single lane road with people passing a bunch in front of the house during the day. The comments from the other reviews and the host reply were accurate, there is one shower on the main near the front door with a sink in the shower and a lovely tub-only upstairs, no robes to get to and from so bring one as it can be brisk in that area. Washer, no dryer. There is one wood stove with just a starter set of wood and kindling (as stated) and no matches and no instructions for opening the flu. We figured it out after the room got smokey. It cleared quickly and we left matches and extra wood for the next guests. We could not figure out the tv. There was literally only salt, pepper, sugar in the kitchen. The lovely housekeeper brought a bag of coffee for the french press (no nespresso) and some shortbread after we arrived. Nothing else, so do buy milk/creamer, and anything you may need including kit towels and napkins in Dunvegan or in Portree. The price is high, but its clean and the views are on all sides.

Lovely stay. Convenient location close to town with a bakery, restaurant and market. Our favorite was Misty’s take away. Good central location to the storr, lighthouse and fairy pools. Amazing views. Clean and comfortable.

Timber House was very clean! The views amazing! Step out on to the deck for dinner! We watched storms roll across the sky from it. It has everything you need to prepare a meal except groceries, but the towns with stores to shop for meal prep are closer than you think! We were able to do some laundry in the washing machine w/o issue. Continue to support local and stop for coffee, a latte and some sweets at the Coffee Box (looks like a horse trailer) next to the fire hall in Dunvegan!

The views from this home were spectacular. We got off to a bit of a rocky start with some cleaning issues but Juliet was quick to respond and things were taken care of the next morning. We were told this was a rare occurrence , and judging by the other reviews this is most likely true. A few things to note before booking: the two bedrooms are both upstairs as is the bathroom with the tub. There is no shower wand, it is just a tub. The second bathroom with the shower is downstairs at the entrance of the home. It is quite cold and far from the bedrooms. Speaking of cold, you will not have any control of the heating, it is set by the owner, so keep this in mind if you are cold natured. There’s a fireplace to start a fire but the upstairs did remain chilly. For how remote the home is, a basket with some simple starter items (like snacks or breakfast items) would have been nice to arrive to. Most things close early on the island, so keep that in mind if you plan to arrive late.
