This was our first time at a higher end resort, so my expectations may have been a little high in some areas, however, some of my frustrations were definitely warranted. We booked primarily for the use of Palomino Island, and after making the reservation, I called the resort to get the details on how that works. I was told that I would be able to make reservations for the ferry upon check-in, but was assured that they've never had issues with guests not being able to get to the island daily. When I checked in, I was told there were NO reservations for ferry for the duration of our stay, but not to worry, they often have no-shows, so you can still get on the ferry after those with reservations boarded. I was also told that ALL rooms had a pullout bed when I called about the ferry (major issue for our family due to the ages of our kids), but during check in was told that was not the case. The following morning, we got to the ferry dock, and an employee told us that there would absolutely not be anyone allowed to board without a reservation. The boat left with at least 1/3 still available, but we were not allowed to board. We called the front desk three times before getting an answer- that the rules had changed, but they would make an exception, however, there were no open spots on any of the ferries for the rest of that day. My daughter was also charged as an adult for the "temporary breakfast buffet", and after two calls to the front desk, we gave up on getting that refunded.

The resort has beautiful views of the island and ocean. Rooms are average and on the side of dated with the exception of the amazing ocean views from the balcony. Kids enjoyed the water park. Make sure you make reservations to go to the island right away so you can reserve a spot because they fill up quickly. Live Music in the big room on Friday night was a nice addition.

This is a return trip to The El Comquistador and I won’t be returning. The customer service is terrible. When we arrived we were told that we were only allowed one hour at the beach for the entire week that we were staying here. We were told that a bellhop would bring our bags to the room and nobody ever came. We were sent to our room (which was quite nice) but down the funicular with no food at the restaurant down there or any availability for food and a 90 minute wait to get back up because one funicular car was out of service. A call to the manager was unanswered and a submitted complaint on their contact us page only led to a message to “we will have the management get back to you” - which never happened. This place needs a lot of customer service improvement to earn my vacation bookings again

The resort was beautiful. Everything was awesome from food & drinks to activities and amenities. Only complaint we had was the roach we found flying around our room. Besides that would definitely recommend.

Beautiful huge property totally family focused. As a couple on a trip we felt a little out of place on this beautiful family focused property. Kids everywhere. Not good not bad just fact. If I was staying with a young family I’d for sure return but as a couple this wasn’t the place for us.

We had a great stay at El Conquistador! The resort is beautiful, and extremely large - almost overwhelmingly so (to get between the upper and lower levels requires a ride on a funicular). There is so much to do, between the many pools, the water park (which for the time being, is included with your stay - although in the past has had an extra admission fee), the private island, the golf courses, etc. All of the staff members we met were also so friendly and attentive. We initially booked a room in Las Brisas building on Hotels.com, but were notified by the hotel before arrival that we would actually be in the Marina building, as the Brisas building was full. We were initially disappointed by this, particularly as the Marina is SO far from the lobby/parking area and most restaurants, but it ended up being nice to be close to the water park and the ferry to the private island. It was also connected to the nearby town (Las Croabas) by a small road, and there you can find many additional restaurants and kayaking tours of the nearby bioluminescent bay. It was nice to have some nearby local restaurants (and more affordable options) for lunch/dinner. The hotel is quite pricey, although given the many amenities, I think overall worth it; would maybe just recommend eating off site intermittently to save money, as the restaurants we tried were only okay and probably not worth the high prices. But overall stay was fantastic, and we will definitely be back!

Beautiful views. Exceptional service. We loved the golf course and the visit to Palomino Island. We are definitely planning a return trip!

Hotel is still undergoing renovations. Our room's A/C would not turn off or adjust to thermostat settings accordingly. As a result, our room was too cold all night & day.

Loved the resort. Great amenities, clean, comfortable. Front desk service was not great. We waited past the check in time for our rooms - twice since we upgraded rooms mid stay — and both times they never called to give us status or let us know it was ready. I had to call 3 times both times.

The staff are not that friendly at all from the valet who was ordering us to immediately remove our car before we even drop our lugged to the hotel front desk staff that had us wait until 7 PM to check in. Who pays for a hotel to be allows to check in at 7 pm and miss a whole day of their vacation ? Add to that the hotel did not apologize for checking is very late and making us wait and the hotel was not that busy. There might have been about a 100 gusts out of the 700 rooms they have. Why not checks us in at a readable time . Their official check in time is 4 PM. That is crazy.

Absolutely beautiful resort, we had a king ocean view, Las Brisas. The room was beautiful, the bathroom was completely upgraded and spotless, and the closet for clothes/suitcases in the bathroom was huge. The balcony was large and spacious, view was 100% unobstructed and spectacular. The lobby was beautiful, the swimming pools were beautiful, huge, and appeared to be completely new and upgraded. The water park was an absolute blast for both myself and my husband. The private Palamino island beach was beautiful. Overall it was beautiful and exceeded expectations.

It was great but the only thing that was it so great was the food. We did not enjoy the food at all.

I would never stay at or recommend this hotel to anyone. Almost every aspect of this hotel was sub par. DO NOT STAY HERE.

The view is amazing no doubt but the service and the food isn’t worth it. It’s not unique to Puerto Rico at all just a bunch of American based food. The service from the workers were off and on you had really nice ones who were helpful and other ones that were rude and not helpful at all like the manger. Me and my fiancé had a terrible encounter on our last night wanting to experience authentic food from Puerto Rico we DoorDash they would not allow them up and they had told us to either figure it out or walk cause they weren’t gonna help us. It was ashamed how we were treated and the rudeness the manger had talked to us and not wanting to help. Overall amazing views and semi cool activities but it’s insane how much you put into it and if you don’t have a car to get a taxi anywhere to old San Juan it’s very high there and back. Would recommend somewhere else for a more authentic experience and pleasant service where you’re closer to things and still have a view.

Resort fee and additional taxes will be charge. To go to the hotel beach you have to take a ferry and make a reservation a day prior. I checked in at almost 5:00pm and the room was not ready.

The resort was pristine and the staff was very accomodating! Several great restaurant options with delicious food. Highly recommend!

Beautiful scenery and ample amount of pools, things to do, and activities every day.
My only complaint was the food - it was all frozen, nothing was fresh, except for in the health cafe. Frozen food in a tropical setting is a huge miss. You want to be able to eat healthy on vacation and know that you're having wholesome food.

Love the property and would love to return. I am mobiity-impaired, though, and it's a HUGE property, so be prepared to walk. And walk. And walk. The distance from the front desk to my room was about .25 miles and my room was one of the closer ones! Still....it's a great property.

The place was beautiful for site and the people were super nice. Unfortunately the rooms were extremely dirty and unmaintained. There was nothing really included in the stay, as advertised.

The view I’m gonna give 5star but the management I would give 0. They have too much rule the feel like I paying money and get in the jail. Also the bed smelled like someone puked. Imagine when u done all day relax and get to the bed. Im not gonna come back this resort anymore. Pay high and not fun.

This resort is fantastic because of the location and the services that it offers like the water park and the transfer to the beach on Palomino island. The rooms are spacious and have central AC which is great although they need some renovations: the rooms seem a bit worn out for the money you have to pay. Also the self parking policy is a bit confusing: once parked you are supposed to use a shuttle that takes you to the lobby, but they do not have a clear schedule and sometimes it is hard to get out because the card used at exit gate would not be recognized.

Really nice resort in a convenient location

Stunning property. The pools, waterpark, boat to island…all gorgeous and worth every penny. Room was clean and remodeled with comfy beds. Our family enjoyed the coffee shop, popsicle place and juice bar. The other restaurants we tried (ballyhoo and brisas) were incredibly expensive and very “meh”. Our breakfast at Brisas felt especially overpriced for what was basically cafeteria food. So just set expectations accordingly. It ultimately looks like a 5 star resort but still has a ways to go with cuisine and training staff.

Loved this resort for his gorgeous setting, expansive pools, fun waterpark, and Palomino island. Really felt like a faraway getaway. Food was just okay and service was slow.

A beautiful resort with multiple good restaurants and an unmissable view. Palomino Island is a wonderful amenity and the water park is nice for the young (and young at heart!). Would definitely stay here again.

Views to die for across pool areas and from our room which was located in las brisas block.
Room acceptable, bed very firm and not too comfortable, bedside lamps were in a very tired, rusted, stained state and bathroom in great need of refurbishment.
Loud music playing throughput the pool areas in the afternoon, so no quiet area to chill and relax in the sun if thats what you desire like we did.
Lovely to be able to visit Palomino Island free of charge, a massive plus.

Beautifull Hotel with marvelous views.

The hotel advertises itself as a five star family retreat. The rooms showed obvious signs of water damage, the bathrooms were weathered and dingy. They charge a premium at all of the restaurants and the food quality is a step below fast food. Also, the service is slow and, nobody ever answers the phone at the front desk. It is obvious that there are very few quality controls or service trading taking place at this hotel.

We loved it here. Will def. Return. Only thing i didnt like is you cant make reservations for anything until you check in.
