Nice hotel very well located, the beach is awsome.

Room had quite a few bugs - mosquitoes, roach, spider. A few stains on the bedding. The shower head had green film on it. Otherwise it was great! Hotel staff friendly, very quiet, and beautiful.

Wonderful property. Pretty beachfront with nice pool. Breakfast was very good.

The reception and service staff are great!!!! The breakfasts and general food menu are good too. However, the hotel is now looking more old and tired. It appears the new management is not dealing with the core issues like plumbing, electrical, cleaning the beach, replacing towels (apparently due to a broken dryer that wasn’t fixed for 6+ months), no “no smoking” signs or enforcement and still allowing guests to smoke on the beach and beach bar (even though there’s been a Mexican law in place for the past year).
Unless changes are made, it may be time to move on after going here for the past 20 years. Sigh!

The property
Here is an accurate review as it seems that the 10/10’s are false or paid for.
The property is old. The room musty. The plumbing was slow and backed up and needed to be fixed twice which put us down in the lobby bathroom.
The Staff
Front desk
It started off wrong when we arrived at 250 for a 3 oclock check in and were told the room wasnt ready. 20 min he said. 30 min later it was 20 more min. Till it got to be 430 and then 15 m more till we got to our room at 445. It had been a long day of travel.
Cleaning gal was the best part of the staff as she was extremely nice and attentive, however room service dishes sat in front of rooms and on tables the entire day and seemed to be apart of the decorations. The rest of the staff hates its guests. It seems a smile is an abstract concept especially the restaurant personal. The breakfast crew talks to each other as if they cant be bothered and looks offended if you ask for coffee. The dinner crew talks to each other while your food sits on a tray and gets cold and then brings you the extremely overpriced plate to you and then ignores you as they walk away without giving you utensils. Do not order a pizza as it is frozen and soggy. Don't order dessert as it is old and the ice cream looked as if it had been the scrapings from the edge of the container. In general the place is on its way to decline and has no pride. Like their staff.
The ocean was convenient and the dive shop professional.

I liked that the property was smaller, had a nice beach area and good snorkeling right off shore. The breakfasts were tasty and the provided a good variety throughoyt the week. The rooms have nice views and comfortable beds!

Great location for snorkeling. The reef is super healthy and full of fish. The staff is very nice. We liked that breakfast in included with egg and waffle stations. The pool and beach is nice too. The building and rooms are dated but clean. I would recommend the hotel.

10 min north of town, nice and quiet away from the cruise ship craziness. Just right size to have everything including dive shop on site. Beach easy to use and snorkelling is good. Restaurant has good variety and quality. Secure site and friendly staff. Suites very luxurious . Recommend

In the north part of the island. Nice neighborhood, beach is beautiful, people nice and friendly. Building old needs some remodeling. Great breakfast included on the rate.

Nice place. Great room, and beautiful location on the beach. Great snorkeling right off the beach.

The palapa bar and restaurant were great. Perfect for our group (2 couples.) Bartenders were fantastic!
It would have been nice to have been able to at least sit around the pool, but it was closed due to some repairs/renovations. The front desk did offer to use the pool at the adjoining property but it did not look very inviting!
We would highly recommend visiting the Lobster House directly across the street for dinner! Excellent food and wonderful musician!

This hotel is so nice, everyone here is awesome. The pool was being worked on when I was here but the other pool was open so that was okay. Beautiful little paradise!

My spouse and I had a wonderful stay over the Thanksgiving week in 2023. This is absolutely the perfect place for anyone who wants a fairly quiet and relaxing beach experience. The on-site dive shop is also first-rate. The rooms do show a small amount of cosmetic aging (an occasional chipped tile for example), but the bedding and all surfaces are clean as a whistle. I put it at a nice Hampton Inn level. The beds are extremely comfortable. The AC works amazingly well. The TVs get mostly Spanish language channels, but you have CNN (for the non-Spanish speakers) AND you easily access the USB ports and HDMI ports to pop in a Firestick or USB thumb drive with movies if you like (Netflix worked great over my Firestick by the way). Wifi is good and works throughout the property. Food is quite decent and reasonably priced in my opinion, especially for a hotel. The included breakfast EVERY day had fresh waffles made for you if you want, and a chef that made any type of eggs that you desire (plus fruit, all the fresh squeezed OJ you want, and a random sampling of I believe 8 hot dishes that you could "self-serve", typically sausage and potatos were part of that). You can walk across the street and there are three great restaurants (great burgers, steak, lobster, etc.), and there is the Key Lime Pie factory which offers to-go pies. The snorkeling directly in front of the hotel is a solid and you see lots of fish and some coral if you swim up or down the beach. Overall A !

The hotel is really nice, but the rooms need to be tarted up, they are a little old. Overall it was a good stay!

This hotel is in the Olde Hotel Zone & I’m so Happy about the location. After the hustle and bustle of El Centro, the bars’ loud music and the Cruise Ship Masses; it was wonderful to come back to this hotel. Just a short car ride away but SO worth it ! Staff are helpful and attentive. The whole facility was always clean and maintained. The junior sweet at 700sft was spacious and very comfortable. Couldn’t ask for better Tranquil setting ! Most of the clientele are multiple return clients. We’ll be back !

First off this was my first time in Cozumel and I must say I will return. From Roberto at the front desk to Misael at the playa azul restaurant the experience was phenomenal. I was a bit on the fence because of the breakfast reviews, but let me tell you it IS nothing like those reviews. They had a chief on hand cooking whatever you wanted as far as omelettes to scrambled eggs with cheese. They had a table bar full of bread, yogurt, juice, fruit etc. The rooms were amazing and the view was to die for. The only upset no elevator, but I didn’t find that too bad of an experience. It’s located near the town and across the street from a great restaurant. The front desk will call a taxi for you. Also, depending on how long you stay you pay an environmental fee, I was not aware of. It was only $10 total, but a notice would’ve been nice. If you are looking for a true peaceful, but lovely, fun and wonderful experience this is the hotel for you. I highly recommend it. Thank you Playa Azul for making my first time in Cozumel a phenomenal experience.

Yassir and Roberto were amazing and kind. Guadalupe and Francisco were lovely. We had a bit of a problem with an unaffiliated tour company and Yassir and Roberto were instrumental in helping us resolve it. I had a really relaxing time here and I miss it.

The staff is excellent. The restaurant is good. Breakfast is delicious and lunch/dinner is fine with many options. I feel the bar service is great but drinks are mediocre and overpriced. Not sure it should be as expensive as the Westin next door.

Small hotel with great snorkeling! Beautiful fish right off the beach. Wonderful, friendly staff. Fantastic lobster restaurant across the street. Only negative, I was bitten many times but bugs. But not my husband!

I was at Playa Azul Hotel, 3 days, 4 night. Every single day the toilet overflowed and flooded the bathroom. I was pretty relaxed the first two days, the third, not so happy.
First day, behind fan monitor on wall, a stocky spider came out when I turned on.
Last day, when I took extra pillows off bed to sleep, a similar spider came out onto the bed from under the pillows.
I didn’t sleep that night.
Everyday, countless mini ants, made there way from behind a picture on the wall, to and from the dresser. I was daily spraying to get rid of the ants. The screen door was about a half inch open, would not close properly. The door came right off tracks 2nd day, called to fix, put screen door back on, still half inch opening. Guess that’s how the spiders/ants got in.
For this inconvenience, offered me $30 off incidentals bill. Front desk said had to talk to manager. When I asked to talk to manager, sorry he’s not here.
What I didn’t mention to the front desk was the old mattress had two cheap foams on top. I only noticed this when I got a back ache the second day. Also, there was a motor sound so loud in the room. This is NOT a four star hotel. I was furious they lied about the manager and then compensated $30 dollars for the toilet flooding onto the floor with large amount of water EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Worst experience at a Mexican hotel EVER. I have lived and stayed in Mexico many times. Really PATHETIC service FOLLOWUP when things went wrong.HORRIBLE exp.
