The hotel itself is nostalgic with areas and features that are reminders of times gone by. The breakfast in the dining room completes the experience. I Choose a room with a view, otherwise street noise and freight trains going past all night will disturb your sleep. Hot water pressure is inadequate during peak times, eg morning before breakfast; it may be worse in the higher floors. Would not be coming back in a hurry.

We stayed overnight in a heritage view room. The room definitely had the view and was clean and comfy. They are heritage rooms do a bit smaller but everything was there we needed. There is a lot of roadwork occurring just now outside the property but once inside this isn’t a problem.

Loved the atmosphere, majestic… the people ,service and the food are amazing. Loved every minute. Will return again

Pretty overpriced for what is available and what was on offer. Basically a room with a view and that's it. Not bad at all, just not worth the price

Quiet, peaceful with beautiful scenery

The hydro seems to have lost its charm and become more commercial. To not have guest checked in in that grand entrance and routed to the side bar was disappointing.

Felt very special in the beautiful art deco filled public areas & loved the amazing views over the valley from a comfortable lounge seat. Loved the soft, large & cosy bed & privacy of our room. The Pavilion was a nostalgic bonus & great for a lazy afternoon & soaking up the valley views outdoors.

What a maze.
1. The hotel check-in desk is tuck away to one side of the building. 2. Due to road works the entry into the hotel car park is not clear. 3. Needed to walk though a wedding reception and kitchen to get to my hotel room from where I checked in.

We only stayed 1 night, but next time it will be for at least 3 nights. There is so much to see and take in, you need 3 nights. The history here is amazing.
Our Barman, (James), who I called Lloyd, (from the barman in the Stephen King book 'The Shining', was a wealth of knowledge.
Our meal at the 'Woodcut', was first class.
We will be back here to stay in the near future.

The hotel and service is excellent but the room condition is a bit older style.

This iconic property remains as a memorable stopping point overlooking the Jamison Valley. Luckily we were able to see the valley as the early fog cleared off. We were upgraded to a room viewing the valley due to noise on the road side from construction.

Fantastic views, excellent staff. A truly memorable experience

History was interesting, outlook and hotel was beautiful. Rooms were small and overpriced, but clean. Lounge room music was like spa music, will put you to sleep. In house Dining options limited.

This hotel is absolutely stunning! It exceeded our expectations. To step back in time into a beautiful world that is preserved in each wonderful room was a real pleasure. The staff were very helpful. It is a million dollar view from all windows. Dining in the Wintergarden Restaurant was excellent, delicious food & perfect service.

The view was very nice.
Lots of nice big halls but all are empty. A hall called "Casino" did not have even a poker machine. Not much to do there.
Aircon did not work and it was very cold. Very poor.
The room was rather small. Position of TV is ridicules.
Not on our list for returning there.

For the price we paid per night there should have been a mini bar in the room (as stated on website) or at least biscuits with the limited coffee supply. Also no ice facilities in fridge or hotel.
Rooms are small and outdated with only a coat of paint over the old furniture.
The bed was comfortable.
Realise it was a long weekend but shouldn't be told the only option for dinner was the three course meal at $115 per head on top of paying $400 per night for the room.
At $12 per bottle of beer that means the hotel is making $288 out of a carton of bottle beer that would cost $60 max to buy is a bit rude.
At that price breakfast should have been included.
Would be a great facility if you had nothing better than splash cash.

The whole hotel oozes charm and sophistication – the rooms were comfortable and the staff were always ready to help.

Room and bathroom was too small and cramped for $300 / night. The Hydro needs a freshen up. Back veranda overlooking Megalong valley has old tiles and I can see chipped paint. With a freshen up it will be a much nicer stay. No complaints about staff. Restaurant a little pricey.

Very spread out

Property is tired, carpets are fraying in areas of room and hallway, bathroom showing signs of mould, our room was on highway side so heard trains leave and bell signal each time train left. To top it off when going to sleep found massive cockroach crawling on side of bed

Beautiful historical building. Excellent dining areas. Bedrooms were smaller comparitively however was clean with reasonable amenities.

Lovely interior with beautiful views to the valley. However the lack of soundproofing between rooms and upstairs made relaxing and sleeping impossible. Requested a quiet room but wasnt given one as it was on the ground floor. Managed to change to a quieter room on the upper floor the next day but we were so tired from the lack of sleep the night before so this had ruined our weekend here. Won't be back for sure. Reception were listening to our needs the first ti me.

Extremely dissatisfied with the results when Expedia sent one email approving the date change followed by the next email refusing the date change when clearly in the AI agent discussions I clearly requested two dates for rescheduling and the response was that I did not make the date request
very bad communication with AI which clearly doesn’t work
The reason to change the dates was due to Covid and yet there was no consideration to the fact i was properly conducting myself to inform the hotel

The staff and dining were very good. Our room was tiny with only a double bed, which made sleeping very uncomfortable.
The views made up for the bed.

The Hydro Majestic is old world charm and is a beautiful place to stay. The rooms are modern with historic charm. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The sitting area in reception with the large windows was stunning and relaxing. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Whilst the position of the hotel is magic and they have made lovely renovations, the rooms are still tiny and even though we advised them we were coming away for our 40th wedding anniversay, no effort, apart from a chocolate on my dessert saying happy anniversary, was made to make it a special stay. This is not a cheap hotel so was a bit disappointed by the food although my husband raved about the scallops. It has a nice feel and the breakfasts are great. Just leaving a bit meh.

It’s was a nice place but extremely expensive for what it is.

Great valley views but not as spectacular as escarpment views. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms a bit small. Nowhere to walk outside to enjoy the view. Bit expensive but that seems to be a sign of post-COVID times.

This is an older building with wooden floors so try and get a top floor room to avoid hearing someone walking on the ceiling all night, but be warned there is no lift. We had a 2nd floor room with a partial valley view and great view of the roof.
The high tea was a disappointment with some aged Vietnamese rolls that had gone very firm and chewie and not so fresh bread. It was a holiday so maybe the kitchen had closed down and serving from the fridge, but at night this is a hatted restaurant so I expect a little better.
Interesting no one asked if we enjoyed any of the meals as we left dinning room on either occasion we dined in.
A few little touches might make this hotel a great hotel. When hotels hold out to be "special" I always test service against the BA tea service and see how a waiter puts down the tea cup, handle so I can reach it or just any old how. In this case "any old how" but that's not at all uncommon and not a criticism, just an observation..
Overall a nice stay and it was fun but perhaps once is enough and ticked it off the bucket list.

The view was breathtaking. But the room was very small especially with the price tags. So many lounge and business area. Decorations were so lovely. Definitely suits the age of the hotel. Would love to go back more if it wasn’t so expensive

Customer service was great, but the accommodations were severely below what I expected at this price point. The rooms are like a motel. The view is nice, but doesn't nearly justify this price.

Nice place to stay with family and couple.
price is bit high for room and breakfast

Does not live up to expectations.
Seems to be a training school for Asian hospitality students.
Rooms are the size of a shoe box.
Food in the hatted restaurant was average at best.
For $500 a night there is much much better out there.

Would like to see a more reasonably priced restaurant at night as well as the more expensive one. Give people the options.
