This is not a place for everyone but we loved it. Not a tourist area but a 20 minute walk away. It was a convent now B&B run by an independent collective, sited above church catacombs. The beds were simple plywood with a nice mattress and duvet with room numbers replaced by religious symbols. . The breakfast was simple light continental. Street noise was notable sometimes most of the night.
The staff were only on site a few hours a day but they were helpful and kind and devoted to the community. Catacombs tour highly recommended.

Amazing location right on top of the ancient San Gaudioso Catacombs which you start to see as soon as you enter the building. As you enter Casa del Monacone itself you're surrounded by contemporary art- paintings, photographs, beautiful tiles. The decor is unique, charming, welcome. Besides having a spacious, well-appointed room there's a large and lovely terrace for all guests to enjoy. Easy walk to great restaurants and other attractions in this interesting neighborhood. Loved staying there.

When you get inside, it is nice. Area outside is little seedy, like it is round Naples.
