Very efficient check in and out. Location is close to everything.
With parking being scarce in town. It’s nice to park at the hotel and walk, Walking distance to the beach, restaurants, shops, and across the street from the grocery store.

This room faces the pool area and has an old door with no weatherstripping around it and large, very old windows on each side of it. There is no sound blocking whatsoever. This was incredibly frustrating when a group of teenagers decided to party in the pool area until 2:30am.
Those large windows? The window curtains don’t fully block the windows so there isn’t much privacy.
With this property, you’re paying for the location, specifically the proximity to the beach and the main drag of shops, and restaurants. We regretted booking this over a couple other options that were in the same price point but a few blocks off the main drag as those properties are more recently renovated and had a little more extra value (free parking, on site laundry etc).
Floors were not very clean

Location, beautiful garden and pool area, great customer service

Stayed here several times. Not what it used to be. Review is for the North location, not the run down Motel-6-esc primary building. Room was dirty, warn. Building needs some attention. Resort fee is a rip off. For what? Not even daily housekeeping. ( I stayed 3 nights.) Location is good. Customer service was ok on check in, but terrible on check-out. I expressed concerns to the female clerk (with a dog behind the counter) and she didn't care. She seemed bothered to even be working. Hotel have Roku and terrible internet. As noted, location is its best feature.

Outstanding stay! Hotel is positioned perfectly between beach, grocery store, shops and restaurants! Beautiful design and detail for a quaint ambiance! Pool was so clean! Front desk was helpful with every question. Room itself was comfortable, bed was cozy and shower was awesome!

We stayed for one night at this hotel located in Laguna Beach. Check-in is very far away from there parking. There is lots of stairs without wraps, or an elevator, which makes it difficult to navigate with luggage. They did not use card keys instead we received an actual key and only one copy so we had to coordinate sharing a key. Overall our experience was average it was a last minute decision to stay but in the future I would look for a room somewhere more updated.

DO NOT STAY HERE. Upon arrival the lady who was checking me in was incredibly rude. She did not have my reservation and wanted me to call to fix it. I showed her all receipts but she said she did not have it in the system and did not want to deal with the issue. We finally resolved the issue and I was extremely polite throughout the process. She then proceeds to put us in the back corner of the hotel where the exit gate did not lock. None of the rooms had proper hotel locks/ deadbolt locks on the doors which I thought was extremely unsafe. We get into the room and the cleanliness was okay but not the best. We leave for dinner and I go to pull out my ID and I realize she never gave it back to me after check in. I understand people make mistakes, and dinner was close, so I walk back to the hotel to get my ID. I did not receive any phone call, text message, or even a knock on my door to give it back. I approached her at the front desk and was barely acknowledged. I tell her she has my ID and she goes to the back and puts it on the counter. She claimed she tried to call me with the number on file but it didn’t work. I double checked the number and it was correct and explained she could’ve called again or texted. She was unapologetic about the whole situation and was dismissive. The next night, my friends and I were staying in the hotel room and we heard someone screaming. We were so terrified hid. We found out it was a domestic dispute. Pay the extra money and stay at a safe plac

The deluxe rooms are OK, it was nice to have a kitchenette. With the "modern" furnishing, though, they are not very comfortable (e.g. metal table and chair).
The resort fee is unjustified, since the chairs, umbrellas, and towels at the pool require an extra fee, the parking is offered for a fee, and the continental breakfast might be the worst one I ever had (a couple of cheap pastries, 1-2 bagels, a few slices of bread, coffee and hot water). All these placed by the entrance, not a real breakfast area.
Bottom line: not a resort, but with a quite pricey resort fee.

Love the kitchen and location to walk to the beach or check the tidal pools at Heisler Park. Availability of Trolly and bus transportation. Nice area to sit outdoors and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Very disappointed
They text me saying I was being too loud when I wasn’t even in the hotel

The property was clean and quiet and in a great location close to the center of Laguna Beach. Loved Laguna Beach and would stay here again.

Amazing place! Safe, clean, great location and amazing welcoming staff!!

The price is super reasonable considering how close it is to the beach. The building is old, but clean and the beds were comfortable. Walking distance to everything: beach, supermarket and shopping areas. We’ll stay here again.

The location was great. The beds could have been more comfortable. Doors did not seal very well and there were issues with our TV to where it wasn’t usable. It seemed like we were primarily paying for location over quality of hotel.

The owner of this property sent an email stating they are striving to be a 5-star property. Here are some suggestions to achieve that VERY lofty goal:
1 Fire Tamara at the front desk - she is terrible
2 Hire another Alan at the front desk - he is the only reason we continued with our stay
3 Demolish the “South Building” - the old Holiday Inn is a slum
4 Pay some attention to maintenance for the North Building. We stayed there 5 years ago and there has been a noticeable decline in what was truly a terrific boutique hotel.
I sincerely doubt this review will bring about any improvements as it appears the new owner is treating their properties as cash cows and waiting for the right offer to sell the hotels they bought in the area for a profit. In the mean time they will invest nothing and be happy to take your money. So sad.

We love that one of the rooms had a microwave, a stove ,there was a barbecue available for our use.. Potts pans silverware the works! We especially love the front desk Hostess Tamara!!

This place was a wonderfull littile oasis right in downtown Laguna. Easy walking to galleries, restaurants, shops, and of course the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely stay here again.

Nice little place. Small issues were frosted glass front door with no blind so all outdoor lights brighten room, fireplace didn’t work, and door locks need to be fixed. Staff very nice and stated that fireplaces don’t work right. Should be stated up front as this may be selling point for room. That said, clean and comfortable room and bed. Bath tub was very nice.

I can never understand how these places supposedly get good reviews. This place is run down, dirty, and noisy and certainly not relaxing or comfortable. Just really disappointing. I had to apologize to my family as soon as we walked through the door. Convenient location, though with easy access to the beach, restaurants, grocery store, downtown shopping, etc. You’ll want to be at all those places instead of your hotel. Major bummer.

Right on the PCH with great sunset views at walking distance.

Amazing location. Great tacos and bakery/coffee across the street. Beach literally across the street. Clean property, great rooms. Overall we had a great stay. Manager responsive and helpful.

We were in town for the Ohana Festival. This property is on the free Coastal Trolley route which gave us easy access to Doheny State Beach 10 miles away where the festival was happening. It's an older property in Laguna Beach, a cute part of the coast with a small town feel.

We stayed here for our wedding weekend and our experiences was AMAZING! The staff is wonderful and rwally went out of their way to make our time there special. They even put champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and roses in our room. The suites are soooo nice and we will definitely stay here again. Also, my husband was obsessed that Ralphs is literally across the street.

The hotel is very basic,
No elevator, no smart key, it’s nice for sleep and go,
Super market very close, and centre city, 5 minutes walk, this way I order this place

The only problem I had was the rugs either need to be replaced or deep clean. front desk staff were wonderful.

Property: was cute, King suite was spacious but it's Queen sofa bed smelled like dust ( I guess it hasn't been opened in a while)
The rest of the room was clean, lots of towels provided for 4 people which was great. Bathroom was spacious and well equipped.
The heated pool was not beach water cold, but also not warm.
Location is cool, right at Sleepy Hollow beach
Pricing: Overall was too much for one night.
Room charge advertised plus.. a total of $135.00..
$50 for tax then
$50 for fees then once you arrive, another
$35 for parking and whatnot which I call (hidden fees).
Like it doesn't make sense that the $35 was not in the website. The lights were flickering, no bfast included for that price.

Door insulation is non-existent but you still barely hear the street, so it's fairly quite.

We enjoyed our trip overall and the hotel's location was very, very nice. Walkable to many great places to eat (or drink) and we walked to the Pageant of the Masters and the Sawdust Festival. That was a long walk but we are in our sixties and it was fine.
The garden pool level was very nice and the staff was excellent. Parking was free and convenient (though it COULD be tight on weekends).
This is an older hotel that was recently acquired by a group that owns multiple smaller hotels in Laguna Beach. Improvements were underway but the overall age of the property has some features that won't be changed. Our room was small with very limited space to unpack for a four-night stay. Some features such as the shower and sink seemed to have been refurbished and were quite nice but there was rusting and other deterioration around door frames and the carpet was pretty old and worn.
The pool fence was old and wobbly but there were lots of loungers and towels around the pool and two nice tables for working, eating, or gathering. Good WiFi both in the room and the pool area.
The room did include a fridge and Keurig coffee maker and was right across the street from a grocery store. The hotel had two sets of washers and dryers but one dryer didn't work.

Staff was wonderful and accommodating.

We were very pleased with the property. The only thingsI found problematic was the door lock and security gate lock. I would suggest updating the door locks and making it so only guest could access the property, the entrance gates didn’t lock at all.

The property is in a good location just across from the beach. The third floor suite have a partial view of the ocean, which was nice in the ocean. Breeze were very nice. The pool area is very nice with lots of greenery and the pool is heated. The rooms are dated, however, and could use updating the carpets were fairly dirty. The staff were friendly. I appreciate the convenience of being able to rent an umbrella and chairs, however, the rentals were very old and in poor condition. It would’ve been nice if they just offered to use with a guarantee return.

Room was clean and comfortable. Couldn't find any switch for the exhaust fan.
Booking sight didn't ask if we needed a room where we didn't have to navigate stairs.

The location was great! The room was clean, comfortable, quiet at night, an easy walk to the beach. Highly recommend!

We love this "old style" hotel with great access to the beach.. There are great spots all around to eat.. My favorite is the little Ramen joint just up the hill, but the tacos across the street aren't bad either . This is a favorite spot for our family for several years and a couple name changes of the property Ultimately great vibes, Steller location, clean little rooms that take you back a bit in time but in a great way. All rooms surround welcoming pool even after a day in the ocean.

Front desk lady did a terrible job; charged my card after she EXPLICITLY told me she couldn’t take my card b/c I had booked through Expedia and told me I HAD to pay in cash (which she then told me to go to the local Ralphs and BUY something JUST TO GET CASH BACK, b/c I didn’t have any, so I could then PAY HER IN CASH.) which i did do. After going through that hassle and I paid in cash, I STILL HAD MY CARD CHARGED. Incredibly frustrating and a lack of communication/professionalism/etc on her end. The hotel was good it was just that lady that made my experience terrible. Definitely wouldn’t recommend if the employees aren’t even aware of how things work.
