For a Taipei lived person, I think this is the best hotel if travelers drive to Taichung and enjoy the local Taichung style. Comfortable and convenient, excellent.

Several notable bonuses for staying at Lailai set it apart from other hotels: 1) it shares the building with World Gym, the franchise started by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The hotel provides a voucher for guests to work out for free. They say it is the largest gym in Taiwan, and the variety of exercise machines, weight machines, and free weights seems to bear that out. If you're addicted to working out like me, you may even feel spoiled . There's a broad offering of exercise classes and hotel guests are welcome, also for no fee. Note, the mid afternoon classes cater to retirees. 2) an excellent breakfast buffet is included. The variety of dishes is surprising. More impressive is that many of the dishes changed on the second day of my stay. So often these hotels will serve the same breakfast day after day, so that after a few days even the delicious food seems boring. 3) free laundry! The basket in your closet has your room number on it. If you happen to leave your clothes in the washing machine or dryer too long, the next person to come along can simply dump your clothes into the bucket and just get there wash on. The one issue I did have was that the AC did not bring my room to a comfortable temperature. Apparently, the 9th floor AC units are not as effective as those on the 6th floor. The staff was super about changing my room immediately and letting me know not to expect the room to cool below 20° C.

This hotel is directly opposite a busy night market and is close to many convenience stores and shopping. Rooms are clean and they were also kind enough to change rooms for us when the Aircon in our original one wasn't working properly. Front desk was also responsive, friendly and efficient. Breakfast was so-so in terms of variety but still good to have in the morning. Definitely a good place to stay in Taichung!

In general, the hotel condition reflected what described during booking. The room layout was designed in consideration of privacy, space, and flow. The bathroom layout was fully functional with separate vanity, toilet and bathtub with shower. A recommendation to the bathroom would be to insert glass doors to the toilet and shower respectively. This would maintain privacy when using the toilet and avoid water splash to the wet area using the shower. Customer service in general was satisfactory, and especially courteous and considerate in the restaurant serving daily breakfast. A takeaway lunchbox was prepared for the elderly who woke up late in the morning. The cleanliness of the room would be a concern to us during our stay as we found dust in various 'obvious' areas such as the TVs and the edges along the vanity. Photos attached showed the condition of cleanliness. COVID safety measures was implemented effectively and adequately.

Service was great, excellent gym, very good breakfast too. Only problem was the smelly closet, which apparently is a persistent problem for all rooms because of the material it used.

This was a very pleasant experience although the location was in a crowes place. The people in the hotel are very friendly and helpful the only short point is that they ran out of map for the city. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend it. Thanks

Big and spacious, unfortunately they couldnt come to the room to fix the heating. Heating is done for the entire floor than a single room. So if you end up on a corner suite like we did and there isnt enough heating, you would just have to ask for extra blankets.

We were in Taichung for medical reasons and nine days. The hospital was in walking distance from the hotel. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Hotel stay includes free workout at #1 The World Gym which includes spa facilities. A low hotel price for great Hotel accommodation.

I stayed for 4 nights in a 4 people room. The room is spacious and clean. The room temperature can be set to my desire wish easily. Wifi smooth. It would be best if I can charge my phone near my bed. Now, there are no socket near the beds.

The hotel is in a great location with lots of shops and restaurants around and a bus stop directly in front (several bus lines go here from Taichung Station). Taichung Park is just a short walk away. The hotel itself seems to be pretty new and shares the building with a fitness center, which however won't disturb you except for some annoying people at the entrance always trying to advertise. Usage of the fitness center is free for hotel guests. The rooms have a good size and comfortable, modern furnished. I didn't have any noise from other rooms during my stay. Laundry facilities are offered for free, the laundry rooms also offer drinking water dispensers. They also seem to have free drinks in the lobby, I didn't check however. Breakfast is served in the basement. Quality is very good and food is varying every day. Unfortunately within the last 30 minutes they seem not to refill anymore and sometimes even remove the signs showing the names of the food. That shouldn't happen before end of breakfast time. Lastly, staff was very friendly and helpful during all my stay. Even housekeeping without asking explained the laundry room. During my next trip to Taichung I'll probably stay here again.

the hotel was near the night market. the food selections were great. coffee, tea and buns in the afternoon were great to have at the lobby after spending the day outdoors before going back to the room. if ever i get the chance to go back, this hotel is a place worth booking again.

Very luxurious. Upgraded to a suite. It was huge! The bathroom was 150 square feet. No kidding. The buffet was large. Really nice.

This hotel was the base of our stay in Taichung. Good things were 1. duvet covers, 2. large clean washroom and shower, 3. excellent air conditioner, 4. in-room safe, 5. free laundry machines, 6. awesome included buffet breakfast. The inside rooms - with no windows - are roomier than the regular room. The location is excellent, with many buses stopping at the stop next to the university beside the hotel. There is also a decent night market within 5 min walk. The staff is also fantastic. Cant really think of a bad thing to say about this hotel.

Reception staffs are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is average. Room size is great, especially the shower room. Bed is very comfortable. Location of the hotel is closed to shopping and super market in walking distance . There isn't any restaurant/cafe inside the hotel.

Yizhong street is a stone’s throw away. Offer free drinks and little buns at lobby. Can borrow easycard with $300 deposit to be refunded upon return. Booked same room type with 2 twin beds and windows for 2 separate nights. The room facing Yizhong is much smaller than the one on the other side.

When we check out, the hotel staffs prepare some free drinks and snacks for us to go. This is totally unheard of. You can imagine how thoughtful they are. It's a wonderful experience.

Excellent hotel l! Friendly staff that provides directions to anywhere you want to go. There is a gym beside the hotel which u can use for free too. The rooms are big and new and the beds are clean too. Recommended for couples

In the middle of bustling action. Convenient location, excellent service, comfortable facility, parking available, good breakfast selection but the most impressive part to me is free access to the gold gym right next door. Major hospitals just minutes away.

Definitely recommend this place! The room was quite spacious. The price was cheap maybe because ours was a no window room but it doesn't quite matter for us. Location was good too. Close to a large shopping mall and a night market. Plenty of buses to take nearby too!
