Check in was excellent - fast and easy. The person who checked us in was friendly. The room was a suite, but had no where to sit. It was just a kitchenette, a couch and a bed. There was a huge empty space where there might have been a desk or table in the past? The box spring of the be was showing (no bed skirt). None of this was a problem, but it sure looked like we were staying a room that wasn't ready for guests. The pictures on line showed a much nicer room and had tables and chairs. We were only there to sleep before our flight so this, again, was not a problem. But, for others, it might be a problem. The problem we had was the noise. We could hear the person above us walking. They walked all night, back and forth. So if you have an issue with noise, request an upper floor. Everything was clean. It looked like the room had new floors. We couldn't figure out how to turn on the mirror light in the bathroom, but that might be our fault.

So we have stayed at this hotel 30 times a year for the past few years. We stayed on December 9 and then December 15, which that night we were moved across the parking to another hotel owned by the same owner. First negative experience in over 100 stays. We were excited for our trip. The short, gray-haired sweater-wearing man, checked us in. Upon entering our room, we found lets say a small insect. We brought it to him and he tired to tell me it was a wasp. It was not a wasp, it was much smaller and no stinger. Having stayed so many times and always enjoyed our stay, we said, well its just one and we should be ok. Nope, we took these insects to Mexico with us! I wanted to change rooms but he told me no. Then, on December 15th, we were moved to the Comfort Inn, which yes is much nicer. But the reasoning is because the owner decided to make the MainStay and Sleep Inn into a project and slum house for immigrants. When we pulled up there were about 50 in the lobby and another 50 outside smoking. In at the Comfort Inn I felt unsafe. The male person that checked us in that night was so sweet. The night auditor was quite an ankle bone, refusing to give me the gray haired mans name. I one point he was over there and we got into an argument. Furious he yelled at me saying he worked in the hotel industry for 30 years. My degree is Hospitality. The ankle girl and him should be fired ASAP. This area is no longer safe. Do not park a car!

Ok for a quick pre airport overnight. Rooms tidy with some wear. Lobby and halls definitely had lingering smoke odors, so if sensitive be aware.
