The property is very nice and the staff friendly. There is however no guarantee that guests will be able to enjoy amenities as those are booked for private events. In our case the entire rooftop was privatized one day during our stay, starting at 2:00pm and for the rest of the day. No possible access to the rooftop restaurant or even the pool.
There was no contact from the staff to inform us prior or offer any sort of compensation for the inconvenience.
This is quite unacceptable for a hotel that is charging over 500$ per night on average.
There are nice alternative options in Santa Monica, at least closer to the beach if you are unlucky enough to book your trip during one of those private events.
For me not worth the risk. I will book the Georgian or Fairmont or Shutter on the beach instead next time(s).

The positives:
-great design
-great location- tucked away but central
-excellent valet service
-rooftop bar is a vibe and fun
-great gym with new equipment
The negatives:
-front desk staff pretty aloof
-housekeeping hit or miss -some days you get a bottle of water some days you don’t. Some days they emptied the trash some days they didn’t. Not the standard of 5 star hotel housekeeping which is typically unobtrusive. You pop out and by the time you pop back it’s magically been serviced. Not here. Unless you remember to put your do not disturb sign out the night before they will knock on your door at 8am every day when you’re getting dressed.
-Labor strikes meant every morning at 7am we were woken by cars honking and bull horns.
Left the Santa Monica Proper more tired than when I arrived.

Stayed in a room that had an outdoor corridor - front door was warped (wood peeing off on bottom of door). Door also needed to be pulled hard for it to shut tight.
No slippers were provided. Nice having a coffee machine but no tea was offered.
Staff at front desk seemed very young and not as experienced as I was expecting from a 5 star hotel.
Unlikely to stay there again

It is very unpleasant to stay here. Considering the price, it isn't valuable to stay in. They charged many different taxes in addition the hotel charged $40 per night for the amenities although we didn't used any amenities. The room wasn't spacious. The layout was uncomfortable. While we stayed the hotel there was their union strike for days from 7am to 8pm. It was unbearably noisy.

The spa situation is quite odd and is actually detached from hotel, the price is not worth the spa environment. No steam no sauna no hot or cold plunges etc.
They had some challenges I am sure being over capacity for the Lobby bar as the rooftop was closed due to rain. Sat us (2 people) than asked us to move so they can seat the DJ’s friends, no big deal we moved for them (compd bread) . Service was very poor, no one came to table for a hour, we had to ask manager to get service.. excuse was that they thought we didn’t want anything even though it was a dinner reservation.. comp one non-alc drink. Just very poor service and even response to the poor service.
Hotel itself is nice just would pick somewhere else for a staycation with proper amenities and service

Cool vibe and aesthetic throughout the hotel. Great location within Santa Monica. We hired free bikes and rode along the beach at sunset. Heaven!

On the higher end of the price scale even for santa monica but you get what you pay for, hotel & staff first class.

Great hotel in Santa Monica with a beautiful rooftop pool with bar and restaurant with a nice view of the city. Upscale, stylish with on-site lounge and dining options. Near, walking distance to the beach and Santa Monica pier and 20 minutes from Beverly Hills if you need to do shopping there.

The rooftop pool and lounge area is very unique and you can eat/drink there too. However, the area can be booked for private groups which prevents access to hotel guests. It happened to us and we were quite surprised. We chose the hotel specifically for the unique experience but it was closed for 1 day that we were there. The rooftop bar would benefit from a couple of TVs. There are lots of cool areas walking distance, however, like most other cities, there is a lot of homeless around the area.

I love the roundness of so many elements in the decor, and the use of natural materials.

The hotel is stunning! the staff is amazing, interior decor is another level, food is out of this world and the rooftop is the spot to be!

The property itself was amazing. The area around it was scary, unsafe. Literally watched a dude get chased by a guy with a knife.

Beautiful, stylish property. Pool area was fantastic :)

Amenities were great, bed comfortable, staff attentive.
However, Leaving slightly Disappointed, I paid for a room with a balcony and had it facing an alleyway. The cleaners also left my balcony door unlocked and open all day.

It has a very warm feeling and unique qualities. The pool and resturants are great places to be when are solo in the hotel.

Amazing experience; lovely rooms and an exceptionally beautiful aesthetic. The rooftop pool is wonderful, as is the on site restaurant. You won't want to leave!

The hotel is modern and nice but I don't think it's worth it when it's over $800 a night + parking on a weekend.
Pool is small and you have to walk pass the roof top restaurant to get to it. Front desk was friendly, pool side staff didn't bother to ask us if we need anything or if we want to order any drinks.
When I booked the hotel, it says that I will get a free bottle of wine as a Hotels.com gold member - did not get that as well.
Not sure what I was expecting when I paid $800 + parking to stay a night here. There were flies flying around in the lobby when we were checking in. Definitely not a 5 stars hotel experience.
Recommend staying here only when it's around $300 a night. It does not worth anymore than that.

Very inviting & comfortable. The rooftop also gives it a unique element & alternative to enjoy. Drinks are great. Loved having access to use bikes to ride to the nearby beach & shopping!!

The design is absolutely amazing. Very beautiful and comfortable. The service was also great. It is far from the beach and the walk there is average. I would have love to be closer.
