Ah, Hotel Berdichevsky, how I miss you already! Where to begin? First and foremost, the staff — from hotel manager Assa to everyone at reception and housekeeping — made me instantly feel like I was home. Warm smiles, pleasant conversations, and no request left unfulfilled.
Secondly, the location — I walked everywhere, from Habima Square to Rothschild Street, Shenkin Street, Dizengoff Center, the beaches, and even all the way down to Jaffa Port (45 min) and back through Carmel Market. Several nights, I walked to Sarona Market (15 min) for dinner, which is like Reading Terminal in Philadelphia: a massive food court-type dining area with great vibes and plenty to eat and drink. The hotel is also only an 18-minute walk from the train station, where I took trips to visit Netanya, Herzliya, and Olga.
Finally, I'd be remiss not to mention Bellboy, the downstairs bar that serves as the hotel's lobby and hangout area during the day and becomes a cool “speakeasy” type of bar at night. In fact, one night I went out looking for a good place to eat, found myself pulling out my phone, only to see that Bellboy was the best-reviewed food in the area, and so I walked back to the hotel! (It was delicious).
Finally, security: The hotel has a Mamad, and halfway through my trip, the sirens went off and we visited the shelter three times in one night. I felt safe and calm, surrounded by other hotel guests in the secure location.
So, really, what more could you ask for? Great staff, a great location, clean rooms, one of Tel Aviv's best nightspots right downstairs, and a secure safe room if needed. Thank you, Assa and staff — I will be back!
